Premier League: Arsenal v Spurs updates (RTE.ie)

TEAMS: Arsenal: Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, William Saliba, Magalhaes Gabriel, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, ...

Doherty, aching backwards, managing to get a flick to direct it away from the Brazilian winger. Matt Doherty has his legs chopped from under him by Martinelli, after playing a neat one-two down the line. Meanwhile, Doherty gets himself into bother, under pressure from Martinelli, he shuffles back towards his own endline, floats a wild pass across his own box which almost leads to a fourth. Dier is booked for a lazy tug on Nketiah as the Arsenal replacement rounded him down the left side. A magnificent, high energy performance from the hosts thoroughly overwhelmed their north London rivals. There's an air of giddy contentment around the Emirates Stadium that we haven't seen the likes of since about 2007.

Arsenal 3 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur - Match Report (Arsenal.com)

Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka secure a third-straight home win against our local rivals.

Sensing an opportunity to seal the win, we quickly pressed for a third goal and after Saka bent a shot wide after coming inside, it arrived. But for all our early dominance, Spurs found a way back level just 10 minutes later when we failed to clear our lines from a counter-attack and Gabriel fouled Richarlison in the area. Saka did well to jink inside from the right and get a shot away, which Lloris did well to parry. However, just four minutes after the restart, the Brazilian did get his goal to flip the game back in our favour. Saka was again involved, receiving possession on the right and found Ben White. And on 20 minutes, we grabbed the lead with an absolute blockbuster.

Arsenal keep hold of top spot with impressive derby win over rivals ... (BreakingNews.ie)

A rare Thomas Partey strike and goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka secured a well-deserved 3-1 win.

The lead would last just 11 minutes, however, a rash challenge from Gabriel Magalhaes on Richarlison leading to a penalty which Kane converted with the usual aplomb to continue his excellent form in this fixture, seven of his 14 goals against Arsenal coming from the spot. But the second half belonged to the hosts, Jesus striking on his north London derby debut and Xhaka continuing a fine run of form either side of Emerson Royal’s red card for Spurs. Partey got the ball rolling with his first Arsenal goal from outside the box in his 65th match for the Gunners, with Kane levelling from the spot to take his tally in this fixture to 14 in 18 appearances.

Arsenal move four clear after derby win over ten-man Spurs (Irish Examiner)

This was a powerful statement in a dramatic north London derby by an Arsenal side in no mood to surrender their leadership of the Premier League.

It was a disaster for Lloris, who could only parry a low shot by Saka and then fumbled the ball through his hands when it rebounded back to him off Romero. Little had been seen of the Brazilian until he took the ball from Martin Odegaard on the corner of the penalty area two minutes before the break, shimmied past Royal and Cristian Romero and hit a shot that Lloris blocked at his near post. That was a reminder of the potency of Tottenham’s front three, but Arsenal continued to dominate and they took a deserved lead in the 20th minute. On the half-hour, careless defending of a Tottenham break led by Son resulted in Gabriel tripping Richarlison and Kane coolly converted the resulting penalty. His team started on the front foot and Gabriel Martinelli lashed a shot off the outside of a post after four minutes. It was Tottenham’s first defeat in 14 Premier League games and they have now not won at the Emirates Stadium since 2010, their only success on Gunners turf in 30 attempts.

Arsenal get some revenge over Spurs as Conte's game plan comes ... (ESPN)

Arsenal made it look easy in the North London derby, running out 3-1 winners against archrivals Tottenham Hotspur.

"We have a really meaningful opportunity to give a lot of people happiness on a beautiful day and we have delivered that and it is a really great feeling. I tried to give minutes to players because the game had ended and also to try and save energy. [Bukayo Saka](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/280555/Bukayo-Saka)'s tame 49th-minute shot straight out in front of him and then allowing the loose ball to squirm under him as [Clement Lenglet](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/193917/Clément-Lenglet) struggled to clear, allowing Jesus a tap-in. Tottenham: Conte will take his Spurs squad to Germany on Tuesday to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. "The players grabbed the game and deserved to win it," Arteta said. "We made a big mistake with the last pass because we had great space. [Liverpool](/soccer/team?id=364) and [Manchester City](/soccer/team?id=382) for the title. "It was the whole team -- starting from the back to front. That progress has to continue, otherwise speculation will quickly resurface over whether an ambitious striker already proven as one of the Premier League's finest can really achieve his ultimate aims at Tottenham -- and links with [Bayern Munich](/soccer/team?id=132) persist. It will come as little comfort to Kane given the result but he became the first player ever to score 100 away goals in the Premier League with a 31st-minute penalty that drew Spurs level in the first half. Tottenham have won multiple matches without playing well this season, staying in games before their attacking talent comes to the fore, and it appeared for a while that would be the case here as Arsenal dominated the opening half hour before a rare breakaway saw Gabriel bring down Richarlison in the box. For the most part, they also avoided the same mistakes as when losing at [Manchester United](/soccer/team?id=360) in a similar sort of game.

Arsenal stay top with derby win as 10-man Tottenham self-destruct (Reuters)

Arsenal meted out their usual punishment to north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates with Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka all on ...

"From the first second I think we were the better team," Xhaka said. Tottenham began the second half in sloppy fashion, and when Bukayo Saka fired in a shot, Lloris parried it out to Romero who bundled the ball back towards his keeper, only for it to squirm out of the Frenchman's grasp just enough for Jesus to convert. It was a sweet moment for the Brazilian, whose fifth goal of the season sent a reminder to his national side's manager Tite, who left him out of the squad last month. "After we conceded we were struggling a little bit, but in the second half we were much better, and I am so happy to score my first derby goal and help the team to win." They are third with 17 points. Royal was then red-carded in the 62nd minute for a needless kick out at Martinelli deep in Arsenal's half, and five minutes later Xhaka swept in Arsenal's third to leave Tottenham reeling.

Every word from Mikel Arteta's post-Spurs presser | Press ... (Arsenal.com)

A gleeful Mikel Arteta attended his post-match press conference having seen his side beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 to remain top of the Premier League.

Because when you play such a big game, you want to win, and those opinions are correct because when you look at the stats and if you just put it in that context, you can do it. But we have to - first of all - have what we have, and with that group of players and that connection I think it is much easier, that something nice can happen. Because emotion is related, and the table says what it says, but it is not something that we look at. Absolutely [this result can be a springboard], I think it started in that dressing room when you get the right people and the right players and they start to connect with each other. I think this is the biggest success that this group of players are having. It’s quicker, you are closer to the goal and it’s easier to do.
