Fantasy Premier League – Gameweek 9: Who to pick, who to drop ... (Independent.ie)

England and Brentford's Ivan Toney during a training session at St. George's Park, Burton-on-Trent. Picture date: Tuesday September 20, 2022. Seán O'Connor.

Despite the Foxes woeful start to the season, Maddison has performed well, with three goals and an assist in six games earning him 29 points so far. The Saints face an Everton side on Saturday who have struggled in front of goal this term. Brentford also face the likes of Newcaslte, Brighton and Aston Villa soon, with Toney likely to continue his rich run of form. It’s been a difficult few weeks for the right-back for both club and country. He leads his teammates for shots (17) and chances created (11) so far, with 21pc of users backing him this weekend. Here are our picks for who you need this weekend, who to drop, and an Irish pick to drive your team up the leaderboards.

Fantasy Premier League: Four of the best captains for GW9 (The Football Faithful)

Ivan Toney vs Bournemouth (A). Ivan Toney ranks third among FPL forwards for points scored this season, trailing only the premium priced Erling Haaland and ...

The Norwegian has scored hat-tricks in each of his last two league appearances at the Etihad. The task for Erik ten Hag and his team will be stopping Erling Haaland however, a feat no team in the Premier League has achieved this season. Liverpool take on a Brighton team under the management of Roberto De Zerbi for the first time this weekend, an opponent that Salah has regularly returned against in recent seasons. Even given the big-name options elsewhere, he’s becoming difficult to ignore as a captaincy option. The 28-year-old maintained his excellent form over the international break, with four goals in two games for Serbia, including a hat-trick against Sweden. An international debut failed to materialise however and Toney will return to Brentford well-rested for this weekend’s fixtures.

FPL Gameweek 9 differentials: Bowen set for favourable fixtures (Fantasy Football Scout)

Gameweek 9 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is almost upon us, which gives us an opportunity to have a look at some more differential options.

It’s also worth noting that he has been a reliable source of Fantasy returns in past seasons, with a combined 21 goals and 27 assists in his last three campaigns. Now, Bournemouth return to action on Saturday, when they host Brentford before playing a second home fixture in succession a week later against bottom-placed Leicester City. Bowen has started poorly but will have a point to prove as West Ham’s league season resumes against Wolves, with his ownership down to just 3.8% in FPL. They have also racked up in excess of 1.45 xG in three of their last four outings. He has a lovely quality on his left foot. That’s because they have adopted a more attacking approach, whether playing a 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-2-1 formation. I think he took up some lovely positions, always works his socks off. Christie has played a key role in Bournemouth’s recent revival, and while most of the Fantasy chatter during the international break has been about Dominic Solanke (£5.7m), he is perhaps going under the radar as a budget differential. I think he was a big part of the comeback at Nottingham Forest. More recently, Christie has played a role in both of Scotland’s Nations League fixtures, scoring and assisting for his country against the Republic of Ireland. However, they have still scored a respectable 10 goals in their seven matches, despite a tough run which has included games against Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton. However, he has netted two in Europe, and if he is to have any chance of being part of the England World Cup squad, will need his domestic form to pick up soon.

Fantasy Football League, review: Nineties lads' TV favourite makes ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

Elis James and Matt Lucas have replaced Frank Skinner and David Baddiel, but otherwise the format is unchanged – un-PC jokes and all.

It was just a shame there were no nods to the women’s game, especially after a week with no top-flight men’s football. Later in the series, we’re promised actor Brian Cox (currently languishing bottom of the league), athlete Mo Farah (top of the table), comedian Jennifer Saunders, presenters Rachel Riley and Gabby Logan, and newsreader Trevor McDonald. New co-hosts Matt Lucas (a devoted Arsenal fan) and Elis James (Swansea City) came off the bench for an ambitious 16-week run, filmed the night before transmission to ensure topicality. Segments included “The Big Hello”, “A Few Things We've Noticed from Watching Football” (basically Harry Hill’s TV Burp for football coverage) and the much-loved “Phoenix from the Flames”, recreating moments from footballing history. Mensah made for a lively addition, cracking edgy gags about taking the knee and teasing Lucas for his blackface misdemeanours on Little Britain. [Frank Skinner and David Baddiel’s BBC Two cult classic](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/didnt-even-drink-baddiel-skinners-fantasy-football-accidentally/) was in its pomp during the mid-1990s, when it spawned inescapable terrace anthem Three Lions and, along with Chris Evans’s TFI Friday, came to epitomise laddish Nineties TV.

But we have our reason to pick him as one of the midfield choices for game week 9. So far He has nine shots inside the box, three goals, one assist, and an xG of 1.61. Along with Haaland up top to finish those accurate passes or long balls provided by KDB we expect him to have a huge impact in the Manchester derby this game week 9. Here are our top selections for midfielders in Week 9 of the Fantasy Premier League. Son came into life finally in the last game week. Thanks to the inconsistency of Everton’s defense and play as a whole, their goalkeepers are generating the best value at the position in the league right now. The wingback is known for his aggressive style of play on the right flank and for his majority of set-pieces role for Liverpool. The midfielder is a true x-factor for the club and he continues to co-run the entire pace of play and offense alongside teammate Pascal Gross. Everton is starting to show a jump in form, but Ward-Prowse still has a chance to reach his ceiling in this meeting. Nevertheless, Liverpool has the highest odds to win, making Alisson the ‘safest’ keeper on the slate and he is also averaging over 2 saves per match right now. The striker is also playing in a formation that is friendly to his play style – lots of crossing to him –. Depending on the possible addition of teammate Ben Chilwell on the left flank, the majority of the play is expected to go through James on the right flank. The salary is not quite ideal, but he is at least playing in a somewhat positive matchup. If Bournemouth is to generate any sort of attack, Tavernier will be in the center of it. Due to the lack of consistency of set-pieces for the Blues, we will take a look at the scorching hot Sterling. Despite the turn in form for Bournemouth and playing at home, Brentford will still have the upper hand and it is a matter of them playing consistent football for 90 minutes. Tavernier is the midfield guru for the Cherries, running all set-pieces and controlling the pace of play.

FPL Gameweek 9 Scout Picks: Liverpool pair return (Fantasy Football Scout)

We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 9 ahead of Saturday's deadline. We line up in a 4-3-3 formation this week and, ...

[VOTE FOR SCOUT AT THE FOOTBALL CONTENT AWARDS!](https://footballcontentawards.com/voting) Ideally, we’d have Joao Cancelo (£7.2m) in this slot, but due to budgetary constraints, have had to opt for teammate Ruben Dias (£6.0m). Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) may find himself on the periphery for England, but he remains a key player for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and returns to the Scout Picks XI for the visit of Brighton and Hove Albion. Not only is his expected goal involvement (xGI) the highest of any defender in 2022/23, but he also sits joint-top alongside Kieran Trippier (£5.4m) for chances created. While David Raya (£4.5m) has only one clean sheet to his name in 2022/23, his total of 30 saves can’t be beaten by any other goalkeeper. That poor goalscoring record makes this the perfect fixture for Raya to record his second clean sheet of the season.

FPL Player Rankings for Gameweek 9 (Fantasy Tipsters)

Tipster Paul takes a look at the best players to consider from each position in FPL after the International Break.

They haven't scored more than one goal in any of the games this season and also failed to score in three out of seven games. West Ham is welcoming one of the worst attacking teams in the league. Cancelo doesn't have the numbers from last season and his position seems to have changed a bit, but he is nailed for the best defense in the league, and even if not like last year, he still gets attacking returns. James seems to be nailed at RWB, and along with Potter joining Chelsea, he might play even higher up the pitch. With him being let out of England squad for the last few games, I can see him trying to get back on track in the last games before WC. He has underperformed until now, even though he looked good on the pitch, and did not return at all since the start of the season. Son seems to be again the previous year's "rank killer." Son seems to be back on track after a rough start of the season with a hat trick in the last game and a couple of goals for Korea. You can back him with the form he is in and with Haaland up front to finish his passes. Maddison is against the weakest team in PL for xGC, is on a great run of form, and is Leicester's talisman lately. Wilson is one of the best forwards in the league when he is not injured. Even though Arsenal is a tough fixture on paper, Kane has one of the best records in the league against them, with 13 goals in 15 games.

Fantasy Premier League tips: Transfer and captain options for FPL ... (Evening Standard)

The Premier League resumes later today after the international break gave FPL players plenty of time to mull over their teams.

After a gradual introduction to the team, Sinisterra has scored in back-to-back Leeds games now he has a starting role. Injury issues may arise but he was, as a result, spared from international duty, while he has a couple of goals at the Etihad in his bag. Who would have seen this coming for Salah at the start of the season (apart from the smug few who ditched him at the right time)?

Who to captain in GW9? What the experts say (Premier League)

Haaland? Salah? Son? Some of the world's top Fantasy managers reveal who is getting their armband.

The [north London derby](https://www.premierleague.com/match/74991) seems to be a high-scoring fixture and Son loves to get involved. We saw in Gameweek 8 that going against Haaland for Harry Kane (£11.4m) as captain worked out for those who were brave. He has returned in eight of his previous 10 league meetings with [opponents Brighton & Hove Albion](https://www.premierleague.com/match/74997) and averages 7.8 points per appearance against them. If I ever needed extra incentive to captain Haaland, now I have it! Manchester United," Haaland said during pre-season when asked about which match he was looking forward to the most this season. The passion of the derby will intensify his desire to continue his perfect returns record this season.
