I wanna be Prince, I wanna be Cyndi Lauper, I wanna be all these fun crazy things that I’ve never actually done.” - “In this particular song, I wanna just be a rockstar. And, as she said in her Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl, there was always a part of Twain who wanted to be a rockstar. “The song is incredible and the amazing 80’s glam looks from this video took it to a whole new level,” one YouTube commenter wrote. In this particular song, I wanna just be a rockstar. In true Twain style, the video is incredibly fashion-forward and features her in a bright pink wig, oversized false eyelashes, and a Prince-inspired outfit of sparkly purple pants and a white ruffled button-down shirt.

Shania Twain continues to chase some rekindling of her pop flame, which at this point, puts her strangely at odds with the direction the rest of Nashville and country music are going. And right now, the 90s country era that Shania was very much a part of is one of the hottest influences in country music at the moment. And do we really see “Waking Up Dreaming” helping Shania cozy up to the Country Music Hall of Fame committee, which will be considering her as a nominee in the coming years? Shania could be doing what other 90s country stars are currently doing, which is growing old with their music, and going back to their roots in an era when 90s country is very popular once again. “I’m honored and excited to be the label’s first artist and lead the charge of this new and exciting chapter. In fact, when you Google “Republic Nashville,” the first thing it brings up is a map of the half dozen locations of the Nashville eatery Burger Republic.

“All sorts of things are in the pipeline. It’s a happy album.” “This album is very chirpy, and I’m very frank with my lyrics on it, so it’s not a fluffy, lyrical album. You can’t please everybody, that’s normal.” I never really get angry with criticism. READ MORE:

Fans welcomed the recent release of Shania Twain's first single in five years — “Waking Up Dreaming” — and designer Marc Bouwer was in the front of that ...
Bouwer then DMed her stylist Molly Dickson, who asked Bouwer about suiting up Ballerini for her “Heartfirst” tour in the U.S. Bouwer also teamed with the five-time Grammy-winning Twain for her music video “From This Moment On,” in which Twain descends a staircase in a pale gold sparkly velvet gown with a chiffon train designed by Bouwer. “If your hero is Shania Twain, meet your hero, you may become friends and she may even let you wear THE dress,” Ballerini explained. As for what people might not know about Twain, Bouwer cited the laid-bare documentary and said, “I don’t know how much more open she could be or that she wants to be. The pair will soon be collaborating again on another music video that Bouwer was not at liberty to discuss yet. Her Instagram post explained the dress was a 24-hour loan from the Grammy Museum. The country music star donned three ensembles that Bouwer designed for the video for the song. They reconvened about a month ago for the “Wake Up Dreaming” all-day shoot in a Toronto film studio, where Isaac Rentz directed the video. “We had some issues about the hair. They agreed on using a red-haired wig as a nod to Bowie’s mane, Bouwer said. Synthetic horsehair was added to the ensemble to give it more of a sci-fi effect, the designer said. We shot ’Ka-Ching!’ and ‘Up’ in Madrid and then ‘I’m Going to Get You Good’ in London.”
