India vs Australia: Suryakumar Yadav blitz, vintage Virat Kohli help ... (India Today)

India vs Australia: Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav stitched a 104-run stand to help India successfully chase down 187 and complete a 2-1 series victory.

There were positives for Australia too as Cameron Green showed once again that he can be a fine option for Australia in the T20I format. Earlier in the day, Axar Patel proved once again why he could prove to be an able replacement for Ravindra Jadeja as he broke the back of Australia's middle-order with a 3-wicket haul. When Suryakumar Yadav got out in the 14th over, Kohli once again took on the onus of being the main man in his 48-run stand with Hardik Pandya. Captain Rohit Sharma, who was instrumental in the successful chase in Nagpur with a 20-ball 46, tried to put the pressure back on Australia. It was Virat Kohli who put the pressure back on Australia after India were reduced to 30 for 2 in the powerplay. India rode on a stunning 104-run partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli for the 3rd wicket as the duo played ice and fire in the middle to defuse the Australian threat.

Coming to the delivery, it is short and on middle, Virat Kohli pulls it towards deep mid-wicket for a run. 16.6 overs (2 Runs) Short of a length and on off, Hardik Pandya drags his pull shot wide of deep mid-wicket where Pat Cummins runs and dives to his left to keep it in. Sams bowls this slower, full and on off, Virat Kohli slogs it uppishly back towards the bowler where Daniel Sams can only get a hand to it but fails to grab it. A full toss and on off, Hardik Pandya slashes at it but it goes off the outside edge towards short third man, the fielder there has a shy at the batter's end but misses. Pat Cummins bowls this almost on a yorker length and outside off, Hardik Pandya puts his bat down and the ball goes off the outer half towards the vacant third man fence for a boundary. A bye is taken and it is called a wide for height. This is on good length and around off, Virat Kohli leaves it thinking that it is a wide. A slower bouncer now, on middle, this is way above the height of the batter, Virat Kohli tries to play at it but misses and Wade cannot collect it cleanly as it goes towards short fine leg. Josh Hazlewood bowls a low full toss, outiside off, Hardik Pandya moves across and smokes it just over the long on fielder for a biggie. 18.4 overs (0 Run) Swing and a miss! Daniel Sams bowls a yorker length delivery, on off, Hardik Pandya throws his bat at it and gets a thick outside edge past the diving Cameron Green at short third man as the ball races away for a boundary at the third man fence. The first game of that series will be played on 28th of September and it will start at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT).

India vs Australia, 3rd T20I, Australia tour of India, 2022 (Cricbuzz)

Virat Kohli, right handed bat, comes to the crease. Josh Hazlewood, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack. IND: 5-1 after 1 overs.

India get a tight win, the kind of wins Rohit wants his team to get before the World Cup And with some of his outrageous shots, SKY brought the run rate down in a hurry. And that intent in the partnership with Virat was what sealed the deal for India. Their post-powerplay game was top notch as they ensured a boundary almost every over to keep the run rate in check. I try to back myself with the line and lengths I bowl and even if the batter takes me on I back myself. He's got the gift of timing and I was in awe watching him play his shots. It was important to maintain my composure and get one boundary (on that first-ball six in the 20th over). It's the array of shots and to play those shots at the right time is such a tremendous skill. At times we were sloppy with bat and ball, but playing a tight series like this against a World Class side is going to keep the guys in good stead. I loved the way he took the game on with his ultra-aggressive approach. The Proteas put on a good show in June to share a 5-match series 2-2. The game shouldn't have gone on that long, we should have probably had 4 or 5 to chase in the final over.
