The 19-year-old Briton was trailing 4-6 6-3 3-0 to Latvian Jelena Ostapenko in Seoul but was unable to complete the match.
She fell behind early in the first set but broke back immediately and claimed a decisive break at 4-4. Raducanu needed a medical time-out and could not halt Ostapenkoโs charge when she returned to the court. Top seed Jelena Ostapenko mounted a gritty comeback to advance to her second Hana Bank Open final where she will face No.24 Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Alexandrova bolted out of the gates to quickly build a 4-0 lead in the opening set and took full control from there. Both Ostapenko and Alexandrova will be bidding for their second titles of the season on Sunday. Raducanu took Ostapenko to deuce in the Latvian's first three service games and broke through for a second time at 4-4. After Raducanu took an off-court medical timeout, Ostapenko continued her surge to lead 5-2 and closed out the set to force a third. Raducanu broke back immediately to put the set back on serve and her early return pressure would tell the tale for the remainder of the set. Ostapenko saved three break points in the opening game to keep Raducanu at bay and then broke for a 2-0 lead.
