The decider will be a doubles match. In case of a 12-12 tie at the end of 24 matches, a fifth match (Decider) on Sunday is played to determine the winner. Every player has to compete in at least one singles match in the first two days and no player can complete in more than two singles match in the competition. In case of a tie, the third set will be a 10-point match tie-breaker. Both singles and doubles will be a best-of-three match with ad scoring. Federer announced his intention to retire from tennis at the end of the Laver Cup event, following his continued struggle with knee injury.

Matteo Berrettini is an especially handy alternate for Team Europe at Laver Cup London 2022.

“Watching them as a kid, I was cheering for them,” Berrettini says of the Big Four. “It’s one of the most historical cities we have for tennis, and not only for tennis,” says Berrettini, who got his first taste of Laver Cup action last year in Boston. “Probably one of the best things about these things is that everyone is so different from each other,” says the world No.15. The O2 Arena, I love that arena, and I’m sure it is going to be great to play there. Team World’s only point during the weekend, however, came when John Isner and Denis Shapovalov defeated Berrettini and Alexander Zverev in doubles in another Laver Breaker to end Day 1. The team is unbelievable.”

T serve from the man in red and Berrettini’s backhand lands into the net. Wide ace into the deuce court from Berrettini - 10-9 and a fourth set point with FAA serving. Wide serve into the deuce court from Berrettini and FAA’s forehand return down the line goes wide. Wide serve into the ad court from Berrettini, the Canadian gets the backhand crosscourt in, the Italian goes for forehand down the line but FAA hits a gorgeous forehand crosscourt pass to save another set point. Gritty stuff from FAA to hang in and get a shot deep into the backhand corner of the Italian who hit the return into the net - 5-all.
