Queen's coffin lowered into Royal Vault at St George's Chapel (INSIDER)

The Queen will then be laid to rest in the King George VI memorial chapel and Prince Philip will be moved from the Royal Vault to join her.

ET, the Queen will be buried with the Duke of Edinburgh in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor. It will take place in a private service for friends and family, away from the public eye for the first time in her 70-year reign. The Queen’s Piper, Pipe Major James M. Harris conducted at both the 1937 and 1953 coronations of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II respectively. Based on a 17th-century German text and chorale melody, the music for this arrangement was written in 1930 by English composer, Herbert Howells. Afterwards, the Assistant Director of Music, Luke Bond, will perform the following works: After Her Majesty’s funeral at Westminster Abbey in London, the Queen’s coffin will be taken to Windsor Castle for a televised committal service in St George’s Chapel. In the Royal Vault are the tombs of George III, as well as Queen Victoria's father Prince Edward. Edward III's sword is kept in St George's Chapel - he lived at Windsor Castle in the fourteenth century and it was this king of England who proclaimed St George protector of the Royal Family. The Queen's father is buried in here, along with her mother and her sister Margaret, who was cremated because there wouldn't have been room otherwise. Also in this vault is the body of a child of Queen Anne. Charles I is also buried in here - his burial was secretive following his beheading. It is the same seat on which Henry VIII worshipped 500 years ago.

The Choir and Succentor leave the Quire by way of the Organ Screen. At the Galilee Porch the Archbishop of York,the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Dean of Windsor take their leave. The Clergy leave by way of the North Quire Gate. LORD God Almighty, King of creation, bless our King and all Members of the Royal Family. GOD SAVE THE KING May godliness be their guidance, may sanctity be their strength, may peace on earth be the fruit of their labours, and their joy in heaven thine eternal gift; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Above all, we rejoice at thy gracious promise to all thy servants, living and departed, that we shall rise again at the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ. We give special thanks for the life of thy daughter Elizabeth, for the mercy she received from thee, and for the example that through her life of service, love and faith, she has set before our eyes.
