Writing something as personal and as intricate as my family’s story, and putting it into a straightforward play was not easy. How unpredictable it is that I've performed this play and now will have it on RTÉ.ie as part of Culture Night! . Then I became a father and thought "There’s my audience!" And it was worth it. When the Salvadoran civil war ended in 1992, so many books and plays were written about it that I thought there was nothing else I could possibly add. . And we did. For a tenth of a second I was in an absolute panic. And what an adventure we had. Janet had never been, my boys had never been and I hadn’t been back since 1997. In October 2020, I found myself on stage performing Looking For América as part of that year's Dublin Theatre Festival. And remade.... And remade.

Local artists to hold exciting drop-in event for Culture Night 2022 ... (Westmeath Independent)

Mote Park Artists which comprises artists from Athlone and Roscommon will host an inspiring Culture Night event in Knockroghery Community Hall this weekend.

The art will be on display again on Saturday, September 24 from 10.30am to 1.30pm. The drop-in event will be open from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Culture Night, Friday, September 23. The artists promise that there will also be a few other surprises on what is sure to be a fantastic cultural experience.

A full schedule is planned for West Clare at the tranquil setting of Lissycasey, music and dancing in Kilrush Square and Quilty. Siobhan Mulcahy, Arts Officer with Clare County Council said, “We are excited to be fully back with in-person events this year. Oliver O’Connell will premiere the screening of ‘Always a Journey Never a Destination’ at the Teach Ceoil. Mountshannon Arts Festival will ‘Shine a Light for Culture Night’ as they host a Lantern Festival in the beautiful setting of Aistear Park. The Circus Ponies, an exciting group of musicians and singers will entertain on the steps of Ennis Courthouse. All genres of the arts sector will be programmed include music, song and dance, literature, film, art, and workshops starting at 4.00pm until late.

Also at 8 p.m. Wexford Festival Opera invites audiences to the National Opera House where The Wexford Factory artists will perform a selection of opera arias.

In New Ross Library at 4 p.m. Fresh from its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh, Robert Tyrrell and Joanne Heffernan’s documentary film Halted will be screened in the Presentation Arts Centre at 6 p.m. The activities will be held in the Augustinian church, which dates back to 1829. As part of the experience, visitors will be able to converse in person with historical residents of the castle and Enniscorthy, be greeted by a Norman knight guarding the gates, help a prisoner escape the dungeon, and learn how families were raised in the castle. In The Bull Ring at 4.30 p.m. Later that evening, at 10 p.m., the Presentation Centre presents one of Ireland’s leading drag artists and star of Comedy Central’s Dragony Aunts, Candy Warhol. At 8.30 p.m. Later, in St Peter’s Square, at 7.15 p.m. Also at 8 p.m. Enjoy 20 minutes of wonderful music with these artists and pianist Giorgio d’Alonzo in the foyer of the National Opera House. Wexford Festival Opera invites audiences to the National Opera House where The Wexford Factory artists will perform a selection of opera arias. This year’s Culture Night takes place on Friday, September 23 and will see free events take place all across the county from 4 p.m.

Athy Sing and Sign are pleased to be a part of Kildare's Culture Night (23 September) programme for 2022.

As well as learning new ISL signs, the group have been learning about her heroic life, her achievements and her contribution to feminine strength. As well as showcasing an artistic mannequin representing St Brigid which they have worked on collaboratively, the group have been busy in the run up to Culture Night learning Irish Sign Language (ISL) signs associated with St. They will perform a St Brigid song in ISL on the night.
