Canelo vs GGG 3 UK time: Alvarez vs Golovkin start time, TV ... (Irish Mirror)

Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will go head-to-head for a third time on Saturday night in one of boxing's most highly-anticipated grudge fights.

This is the biggest fight for us. This is my true life.” This is at 168. This is my life. However, Alvarez is the undisputed 168lb champion, and is a heavy favourite to perform better at the weight and land the victory over an ageing Golovkin who hasn't impressed in recent outings. Everything has changed and everything is possible.” Streaming service DAZN will have the honour of broadcasting one of boxing's biggest fight exclusively live on their new pay-per-view platform. I think this is the biggest day for boxing right now, and the biggest gift for the fans. The trilogy between Alvarez and Golovkin, like their other two fights, takes place in the fight capital of the world; Las Vegas. The full card will get underway at around 1am UK time with a whole host of top level fighters taking to the ring before the headline act including Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez. “I feel like I work better under pressure, and the pressure I’ve put on myself is to finish this inside the distance. The two legendary world champions have already competed twice, going 24 rounds altogether in a set of bouts with very controversial outcomes.

But the co-main should also be fascinating. Despite outlanding his opponent in eight of the 12 rounds, Golovkin fell on the scorecards in a close majority decision. Both have a long history dating back to September 2017 for one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the last decade. Boxing Tips: 5/1 Canelo Alvarez to out-punch GGG in third fight (Paddy Power News)

Our tipster Matt Gipon has his eyes firmly set on the concluding fight between two of boxing's grittiest competitors.

Akhmedov is a bit too easy to hit at the moment to be considered a potential champion but he has time on his side. The eye-test would suggest that Conway is out of his depth, but the Northampton man has an excellent jab and he’s tough. I think Gennadiy will be better on Saturday for being back in America and for having blown off the cobwebs, and it’s probably about time he allowed his body to fill out to 168 pounds. America’s new 115-pound southpaw titleholder Rodriguez is a star in the making, and he’s got rare power at that weight, but I think this weekend he’ll have to settle for a decision victory. The judges gave a mixed decision verdict to Alvarez, and those two results remain the only two blemishes on Golovkin’s 44-bout professional record. The first two fights between the pair were so close they had to run it back one more time, and this time it’s at super middleweight with all four titles are on the line.

Experts predict winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin (Los Angeles Times)

Who will win the final fight of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin III trilogy? Experts share their predictions.

Canelo will need to end the trilogy with Golovkin on a high note and that’s with a knockout. “Golovikin hopes to prove, once and for all, that he was right and the judges were wrong, first in 2017 and again in 2018, in a draw and then a narrow scorecard loss to Canelo. “For the record, I think Canelo lost the first fight against Golovkin and then tied the second meeting. “Golovkin represents a good rebound fight for Álvarez as it has the façade of a big-fight feel. I believe he wins a war Saturday night, breaking Golovkin’s body down during 10 grueling rounds and forcing a stoppage in the championship rounds to end one of the most memorable trilogies of the modern era. Not to mention the confidence required to beat the super middleweight champion, derived from the 24 rounds they shared in 2017 and 2018 — a majority of which Golovkin believes he won. “Yes, Golovkin is a middle-aged boxer, but the power punches are still there and he’s likely motivated for a trilogy bout he’s been waiting for four years. Golovkin is no longer in his prime, but he’s still the best middleweight in the game and he’s still an elite-level punisher if he’s allowed to get into his rhythm. But based on his age, his lack of activity since their rematch four years ago and Álvarez’s history on the scorecards in Las Vegas, it’s tough to envision a Golovkin victory. Canelo is just too big of a favorite to lay that kind of money on, but he’s younger, still in his prime and I believe he’s better than he was in 2018 when he won their second fight. Canelo will welcome the heat and do his best to not only stand his ground, but try to push GGG back on his heels. I think this fight is going to be close but Canelo may find himself in a hole that he’s unable to dig himself out of when he realizes that he cannot stop GGG.

Canelo vs. GGG Fight: Live Updates (The New York Times)

After beginning his career in the boxing hinterlands of Germany, Golovkin rocketed to stardom in the 2010s with a series of knockouts and title wins, leading up to his first two fights against Álvarez. That opens up several questions for this fight: Golovkin is one of the greatest knockout artists in boxing history, but how will his power translate going up in weight and against a beefier Álvarez? The recent loss could just be written off as the price Álvarez paid for fighting in a division he is unsuited for. To some, Golovkin won both fights, especially the first one, where one judge, Adalaide Byrd, turned in a scorecard that read 118-110 in favor of Álvarez, and was He has had a handful of different promoters in his career, but they all settled on the same formula: Have Álvarez fight as often as possible in early May, for Cinco de Mayo, and mid-September, in line with the formal day of independence, Sept. It is hard to remember now, but Álvarez fought most of his early career at super welterweight (154 pounds), only finally moving up to middleweight for the first two fights against Golovkin. Álvarez has since broken up with Golden Boy and as a promotional free-agent is able to charge a premium for his bouts. The broadcast’s cameras showed the star of the “Creed” film franchise in Alvarez’s locker room, exchanging hugs and greetings with the super middleweight champ. But Ali and Rosado fought in real life, where the 27-year-old Akhmedov’s speed and footwork and combination punching propelled him to a lopsided victory. Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico holds two major title belts, and the 35-year-old Nicaraguan legend Roman Gonzalez remains a major player in the division. Saúl Álvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin have the main event on a card of eight fights. Here’s a peek at the card and how the fights have played out so far:

Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin 3 fight predictions, odds ... (CBSSports.com)

GGG gets his final chance at revenge against the undisputed super middleweight champion on Saturday.

But he will need to fight as physical as he ever has in the clinch to slow down his opponent and he will need to show a level of urgency that simply hasn't been there late in his biggest (and closest) fights before. "I think this is going to be the good one of the three, I think it's going to be the best," Alvarez said. The other fight of note brings the return of Jesse "Bam Bam" Rodriguez as he looks to defend his WBC super flyweight title against Israel Gonzalez in the co-feature. Although Golovkin has outlanded Alvarez by an average of 40 total punches over both fights, Alvarez has held the edge in power punches landed, power punching percentage and body shots. It's a blueprint, one can argue, that Bivol used to solve Alvarez in May. It was Albert Einstein who once described the definition of insanity as doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. "This fight is very important for my legacy because it will remain in the history of boxing after this fight. I think this is one of the best rivalries in boxing history." He took it like it was a piece of meat and he ate it and kept coming." He admitted that age has made it more difficult to recover, which is something Banks, a disciple of the late Emanuel Steward's Kronk Gym, has worked hard on offsetting. To defend Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs), the undisputed super middleweight champion only fought at middleweight once more after his 2018 rematch with Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs), who still holds a pair of world titles at 160 pounds. The first two fights were PPV blockbusters and ultimately exceeded expectations as classic action fights with a high level of skill and intensity.

Their second, in 2018, was closer, but ended in a majority-decision win for Álvarez after another 12 rounds where many thought Golovkin did no worse than a draw. Hello and welcome to the Las Vegas Strip for tonight’s third fight between Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin. (The Guardian had it 116-111.) Canelo has held as a solid -450 favorite (meaning a $450 bet would pay off $100), while Golovkin is a +340 underdog (meaning a $100 wager would return $340). The close rounds are going to go to Álvarez and he’s just banked three of them. Golovkin lands a hard right hand, his best shot of the night, but Álvarez takes it in stride. Álvarez picks up the pace in the final minute, letting his hands go and pummeling Golovkin backwards. Golovkin lands a right uppercut through Álvarez’s guard, which must be the first one he’s thrown all night, but the Mexican walks right through it. He’s got Álvarez up against the ropes and he’s landing a couple of shots to the head, but the Mexican is throwing with him. Probably not a great idea for Álvarez to spend so much time along the ropes willingly. Álvarez breezes through the finish line.

The strategy was in stark contrast to his more passive approach a year earlier in the first meeting, which ended in a controversial draw. A motto was stitched in red on the other: “Legacy is Earned.” Collazo shook off the cobwebs and got back up, but Pacheco unleashed a combination of punches until referee Celestino Ruiz stepped in at the 2:29 mark to end the fight. Canelo is just too big of a favorite to lay that kind of money on, but he’s younger, still in his prime and I believe he’s better than he was in 2018 when he won their second fight. Rodriguez used a deft jab for most of the fight to keep Gonzalez at bay. A clash of heads occurs in the final seconds of the round. The fight is one-third complete and the drama is lacking so far. Canelo is the aggressor who is marching forward picking and choosing one punch at a time. Golovkin starts to muster offense with an uppercut in the final minute of the round. Yet it should not be forgotten that, for most of his career, he was an implacable and ferocious world champion. He tried to build on that momentum but, in the last stretch of the fight, Álvarez cruised comfortably home. It was here, in May, that he lost for only the second time in 17 years, when he was outboxed by Dmitry Bivol. He was unable to impose himself and, especially in the first seven rounds, he looked a disconsolate version of the previously formidable middleweight champion who dominated his division for so many years. It was plain that, then, he and Golovkin were two champions of almost equal merit. Álvarez, the undisputed world super-middleweight champion, was a comprehensive winner and the only surprise was that, for once, the judges were sympathetic to Golovkin.

Canelo Álvarez beats a faded Gennady Golovkin in unanimous ... (The Irish Times)

Álvarez, the undisputed world super-middleweight champion, was a comprehensive winner and the only surprise was that, for once, the judges were sympathetic to ...

Álvarez, at 32, is eight years younger than Golovkin, and the difference in age was obvious on a painful night for the older man. He tried to build on that momentum but, in the last stretch of the fight, Álvarez cruised comfortably home. Álvarez continued to land the meaningful punches and it looked as if Golovkin would need to rely on all his considerable bravery to survive a slow and methodical beating. By the end of Round Five, the older man looked lonely on his stool in the corner, his face reddened and a swelling forming beneath his right eye. He was unable to impose himself and, especially in the first seven rounds, he looked a disconsolate version of the previously formidable middleweight champion who dominated his division for so many years. Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez swept aside the troubles of his difficult year, and a festering rivalry, when he defeated a faded Gennady Golovkin in a unanimous victory on points in their third fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
