The 34-year-old striker admitted to stalking and sending abusive messages to ex-girlfriend in 2019.

But he missed a sentencing hearing last month after testing positive for Covid-19 and had been ordered to appear back in court on Friday. In 2019, Stokes admitted to sending Ms Scott abusive messages; up to 100 texts a day on WhatsApp and email between July 2018 and February 2019. He has been without a club since 2020.

He also repeatedly phoned her parents to "utter inappropriate and offensive remarks" about her, the court heard. At the time, sentencing was deferred for Stokes to be on good behaviour.
