Keating's late penalty seals victory for Cork as their promotion ... (The42)

JUST AFTER RAUL Uche looked to have snatched a point for Waterford, Cork City collected the three points through a Ruairi Keating penalty in the 94th minute.

The second ball in from Patterson was met by substitute Raul Uche, who headed in the equaliser for Waterford. The shot-stopper put the ball into Murphy’s path and the striker tapped this in to make it 1-0 to City. Another ball in went to Quitirna and this was scrambled away before the forward steadied himself. Paul Martin spotted this and tipped it off the crossbar, and the ball went out to Cian Bargary. When he did get free of the full-back, a deep cross was put in and this was scrambled clear by the City defence. Just as he ran into the box, Matt Healy lunged in and won the ball back for his club.

First Division: Cork edge Blues to close in on title (RTE.ie)

Cork City are two wins away from the First Division title after an injury-time penalty from Ruairi Keating saw off Waterford at the RSC on Friday evening.

The second ball in from Patterson was met by substitute Raul Uche, who headed in the equaliser for Waterford. Referee Alan Patchell had a good look at this and wasted no time in sending off the midfielder. This was the start of a strong spell in possession by the Blues, and this ended with Patterson having a long-range shot blocked by Jonas Hakkinen. This was cleared to Coffey and he curled a shot in towards the bottom right corner of the goal. Then City won a corner and a short ball was swung in by Healy. His side broke from this and Ruairi Keating got into space on the right flank.

Keating keeps his nerve in chaotic climax to put Rebels on brink of title (Irish Examiner)

Late, late drama sees Waterford equalise only for an injury-time penalty helps Healy's side move one win from promotion.

But the drama didn’t end there, City were awarded a penalty in the 94th minute when Richard Taylor was adjudged to have fouled inside the box. Healy delivered into the box after a short corner, and with the City centre half pairing of Cian Coleman and Ally Gilchrist causing issues, the ball fell to Barry Coffey. City kicked into gear as the half wore on with Keating leading from the front. The opening quarter brought glimpses at goal for both sides with Phoenix Patterson a threat down the left for Waterford. A Patterson corner was met flush by Darragh Power, whose header crashed off David Harrington’s crossbar. Waterford made two changes to the starting 11 that drew away to Wexford, with Dean Larkin and Yassine En-Neyah making way for Richard Taylor and Niall O’Keeffe.
