He’s followed all the way and goes down as he makes contact with the ball. Watts forces another excellent save from Vasyutin after pouncing on loose possession and shooting on the turn. This time it’s Seán Gaffney who has the chance as he gets on the end of an excellent ball over the top from substitute Jack Byrne. He brings the ball past the keeper and gets a little nudge along the way but the momentum takes him too far away to get a shot off. It takes a deflection on the way to result in another corner. Very nervy moment there for the hosts, and Cleary will be very relieved they got away with that. Djurgardens take back a bit of the control again, spraying passes around without much pressure from Rovers. They do little from the kick though as the delivery is gathered easily by keeper Vasyutin. Tallaght Stadium is rocking as the visitors get an early half-chance. None of the three qualified for the knockout stages of that competition, with Stephen Kenny’s Dundalk going closest in 2016.

Europa Conference League: Shamrock Rovers v Djurgardens (RTE.ie)

Shamrock Rovers begin their Europa Conference League group campaign against Swedish outfit Djurgardens. Follow the action right here.

Greene does well to make something out of a hoof forward - his ambitious shot is blocked though. He swivels on it and unleashes a low shot that cannons off the legs of keeper Vasyutin. 71 mins There's a bit of pinball in the box and it drops to Dylan Watts. 47 mins Shamrock Rovers are hunting a fifth home win in the bounce - but this won't be easy. Dan Cleary gets himself into a right mess as he tries to sell Victor Edvardsen a dummy - it doesn't work, and Edvardsen hares forward with Asoro to his right. Greene's first touch is a little heavy but he gets around the keeper before the balls runs away from him and the angle proves too tight for him to get a shot in. Finndell smashed it in from the edge of the box but Mannus was equal to it. He's dictating things in the middle of the park. 15 mins Magnus Eriksson is the string-puller in Djurgardens' midfield and he has been good so far. Andy Lyons then does well to box in the full-back and win a corner. 2 mins A confident start from the visitors who boss possession in the very early exchanges. Djurgardens are in town, and while they are sure to pose a big challenge for the Hoops, Stephen Bradley's men have every chance to get at least one point on the board here.

In the end, The Hoops had to settle for a well earned draw. But the biggest chance came to Dylan Watts shortly before the end. Rory Gaffney had a huge chance to put the hosts in front but skewed his right-footed shot tamely at the keeper. A long ball found Aaron Greene who rounded the keeper, but just couldn't quite sort his feet out and the moment passed him by. Dylan Watts began to take up some good positions, while Ronan Finn's influence on the game grew. That atmosphere threatened to be dampened early on as Djurgardens of Sweden settled well.

And can Rovers make history by becoming the first ever League of Ireland side to advance past the Group Stages of a European competition? On the players front, Djurgardens’ stars are strikers Victor Edvardsen and Joel Asoro – the latter formerly of Sunderland and Swansea. Shamrock Rovers open European campaign with Djurgardens draw (The42)

SHAMROCK ROVERS' DEBUT in the Europa Conference League ended in a goalless draw with Swedish side Djurgarden at Tallaght Stadium, a night to prove that ...

The loud travelling fans howled for a penalty when Haris Radetinac went to ground in the box after a tangle with Lyons, with the referee unmoved and no VAR in operation to offer a reprieve. Now it was Rovers’ tempo that threatened to overwhelm, and Djurgardens reacted on the hour mark with a quadruple sub, beefing up the midfield by introducing Schuller among them. Sabovic was a threat from the edge of the box, and he saw an early shot blocked in the penalty area by Gary O’Neill.

Djurgardens had plenty of the ball but no conviction up front, while Rovers were close again nine minutes from time when Lyons’ header from a Byrne free kick went narrowly over. A good ball from Dylan Watts sent Greene bearing down on goal, he shrugged off his marker Piotr Johansson and rounded the keeper but ran out of space and the ball came back to O’Neill who fired from the edge of the box and won a corner. The only response from Rovers a shot from teenager Justin Ferizaj which was off target. But it was clear from the off that the visitors had a touch of class about them and were not underdogs by any means. In a move started by Andy Lyons, Ronan Finn and Dylan Watts worked well but Djurgardens’ teak-tough defence nipped the danger in the bud. There was a lot at stake with this group a winnable one for all four teams, and the rivalry in the stands made it clear that this was no friendly.

Rovers tore into them after the break with a Watts ball causing enough panic for Greene to find himself one-on-one with Aleksandr Vasyutin. Djurgården were snappy and threatening but Chris McCann and Gary O’Neill provided the Rovers defence with a security blanket. The Tuam native seemed caught between two minds, to leather it or wait for Ronan Finn to arrive, and he ended up doing neither. A half-volley eventually fell to Hampus Finndell but Mannus gathered without any fuss. Their lively presence, among the 6,330 attendance, enhanced the occasion of Rovers’ return to the European group stages after 10 years. Hoare limped off on 12 minutes, to be replaced by Cleary.

Shamrock Rovers earn historic point in Conference League group ... (Playing for 90)

Shamrock Rovers hosted Djurgårdens IF at the Tallaght Stadium in the UEFA Europa Conference League and earned a historic point in the goalless draw.

Rovers have shown throughout this qualification process that they are an extremely tough team to beat at the Tallaght Stadium. Gent and Molde also tied their opening match of the Conference League, therefore all four sides in this group are even on 1 point after one match. Unfortunately, that 2011 Rovers squad failed to acquire any points in the Europa League group stages, losing all six matches.

He said: "Her state visit to Ireland in 2011 marked a crucial step in the normalisation of relations with our nearest neighbour. "Her popularity with the Irish people was also very evident and clearly made a very positive impact on the Queen. In 2011, she became the first British monarch to visit the Republic of Ireland since Irish independence. The supporters, some of whom waved flags and pumped fists in the air while belting out the words, have been heavily criticised on social media. Sick." Another user wrote: "Wow, I cannot comprehend what sick minds it takes to sing this."
