He’s followed all the way and goes down as he makes contact with the ball. Watts forces another excellent save from Vasyutin after pouncing on loose possession and shooting on the turn. This time it’s Seán Gaffney who has the chance as he gets on the end of an excellent ball over the top from substitute Jack Byrne. He brings the ball past the keeper and gets a little nudge along the way but the momentum takes him too far away to get a shot off. It takes a deflection on the way to result in another corner. Very nervy moment there for the hosts, and Cleary will be very relieved they got away with that. Djurgardens take back a bit of the control again, spraying passes around without much pressure from Rovers. They do little from the kick though as the delivery is gathered easily by keeper Vasyutin. Tallaght Stadium is rocking as the visitors get an early half-chance. None of the three qualified for the knockout stages of that competition, with Stephen Kenny’s Dundalk going closest in 2016.

Greene does well to make something out of a hoof forward - his ambitious shot is blocked though. He swivels on it and unleashes a low shot that cannons off the legs of keeper Vasyutin. 71 mins There's a bit of pinball in the box and it drops to Dylan Watts. 47 mins Shamrock Rovers are hunting a fifth home win in the bounce - but this won't be easy. Dan Cleary gets himself into a right mess as he tries to sell Victor Edvardsen a dummy - it doesn't work, and Edvardsen hares forward with Asoro to his right. Greene's first touch is a little heavy but he gets around the keeper before the balls runs away from him and the angle proves too tight for him to get a shot in. Finndell smashed it in from the edge of the box but Mannus was equal to it. He's dictating things in the middle of the park. 15 mins Magnus Eriksson is the string-puller in Djurgardens' midfield and he has been good so far. Andy Lyons then does well to box in the full-back and win a corner. 2 mins A confident start from the visitors who boss possession in the very early exchanges. Djurgardens are in town, and while they are sure to pose a big challenge for the Hoops, Stephen Bradley's men have every chance to get at least one point on the board here.

In the end, The Hoops had to settle for a well earned draw. But the biggest chance came to Dylan Watts shortly before the end. Rory Gaffney had a huge chance to put the hosts in front but skewed his right-footed shot tamely at the keeper. A long ball found Aaron Greene who rounded the keeper, but just couldn't quite sort his feet out and the moment passed him by. Dylan Watts began to take up some good positions, while Ronan Finn's influence on the game grew. That atmosphere threatened to be dampened early on as Djurgardens of Sweden settled well.

Vasyutin decided to come out but then changed his mind and backpedalled. Rovers claimed handball when it was blocked by Hjalmar Ekdal but their appeals for a penalty were waved away. He should have played it to Joel Asoro who was in support but instead fired straight at keeper Alan Mannus. Still, they had a corner and Ferizaj’s delivery was met by the head of Lyons but he could not keep it away from Vasyutin and, moments later, the Blackpool-bound player was told to get to his feet as he looked for a spot-kick after a tame challenge. And the former Dundalk defender had a scare after his introduction when he struggled to deal with a pass from Sean Gannon. The Swedes had edged the first half with Rovers unable to create a chance of note.
