The legendary RTE pundit stepped away from Sunday Game duties after the 2022 campaign and will appear on Friday night's Late Late Show.

"Everything she did in her life was for us. Promoted Stories "We are together 32 years and I am a Mammy's boy but I have never changed from the day I met her to now." Pat’s mother later passed away in her mid-80s in 2012, but the pundit remains a self-confessed “Mammy’s boy” despite being married to his wife Rosarii for 33 years and having three children Cara, Shona and Pat. Tom died of a heart attack in his mid 40s, leaving Pat's mother to rear four children and run the family pub alone, while Pat stepped up to become the “father figure” of the family to his three younger siblings. What some fans may not know is Pat’s father Tom was not around to witness his success, as died suddenly from a heart attack when he was just eight years old.

I know there’s a silent majority out there that have supported me.” A peaceful mind, happy, contented and move onto the next chapter. “If you can do that in a job, that’s good. If someone was giving out about you, would you invite them into your head?’ Believe me I am just going another direction.”

"They went for a walk on the Saturday night and my father got a bad pain in the chest and the man with him said: 'Tom, you may go to the doctor.' "On the Monday night, when they went back to his car after coming down from London, he got bad pain in the chest again, lent against the wall...and on the Tuesday night, he died. He said: "The day of the All-Ireland, I saved my first public crying in front of the nation, and it was a tsunami of emotion released the minute the final whistle was blown."
