The Irish star is tonight's Main Stage headliner at Electric Picnic.
Dermot Kennedy discussed his new single, "Kiss Me," his upcoming album, "Sonder," and his busking tour, Sonder Street Sessions.
"The busking is just a really, really nice way to find that connection in a very real way and it just feels like a genuine connection -- that as your career grows, it's as if that's sort of almost taken away from you. "When I sing that lyric, 'I was something to someone,' and I look at people in the crowd when we're playing and I think about, 'I wonder what it means to them?' " he said. "I would say it's probably a bit more joyful than the first, which is a nice thing for me, because this is where I'm at in life, which feels good," he said. "It's the idea that no matter how difficult things get, the best version of a relationship always exists," Kennedy said of message attached to the single. "I think with this title and this idea we can really share it properly." Scott Fitzgerald's novel, "Tender Is the Night."

The music video for “Kiss Me” was directed by ABCDCD (Franz Ferdinand, Sparks) and depicts an epic journey of a couple set against bold, cinematic images.
