Atkinson linked with centre Harris to secure his second and the visitor's third try of the game, following a solid driving maul from the Gloucester men. Winger Ollie Thorley pounced on a beautifully-weighed crossfield kick in the first 90 seconds following a strong attacking line-out to score. Hastings duly added the extras.

A magnificent tip from Fraser Balmain to Jack Singleton puts Gloucester within millimeters of the try line. First try of the season. Chris Harris picks off a Ben Healy pass just as Munster start to look on the front foot. Back-and-forth as Munster kick their way into the 22 after a breakdown infringement from Gloucester. The Gloucester driving maul may as well have sprinted into the Munster 22. Adam Hastings dinks the ball towards Tom Seabrook into the dead ball area, but the winger marginally knocks the ball forward in his attempts to claim it. Ben Morgan steamrolls up the field as he picks and go from the root of a ruck. Ben Morgan links up with Freddie Clarke in the wide channels to put Gloucester just short of the try-line. Munster continue the march as the pack pile on the pressure. Paddy Kelly is within inches with a drive from the root of the ruck, Alex Kendellen goes next and manages to beat Ciaran Knight to the floor for the touch down. Jack Crowley tests the inside shoulder but is brought down, Paddy Patterson quickly retrieves the ball, passing outside to Shane Daly who then assisted his opposite wing Calvin Nash for a score in the corner. The tempo was unreal in the quarter following half-time, so perhaps a drop in pace is excusable.

A second try came in as many minutes before Gloucester returned the favour, Jack Reeves scoring the visitors fourth try of the evening – converted by Lloyd Evans. Fellow Scotsman Hastings added the extras to send Gloucester in 0-21 up at the break. Munster found their form in the second half against a younger Gloucester side, matching the visitor’s three tries.
New head coach used a mixture of youth and experience against the English Premiership outfit.
This ignited a spark in Munster and Kendellen also dotted down approaching the hour to bring Munster well into contention. Although Tom Seabrook spurned an excellent chance to touchdown moments before that, Gloucester brought a commanding lead into the break. Shorn of his international contingent, new head coach Rowntree used a mixture of youth and experience against the English Premiership outfit.
Following this first outing under their tenure, Rowntree, along with his new attack coach Mike Prendergast and defence coach Denis Leamy, will have plenty to ...
- 13. - 14. - 15. It was another debutant who rounded off the night with Munster’s third try, however: Paddy Patterson meandered into space off a scrum and fed Fekitoa, whose soft backhanded pass set off teenager Ruadhán Quinn wide in the Gloucester 22′. Cork man Bryan O’Connor also emerged from Gloucester’s bench to bank some minutes in his hometown. They worked their way back towards Gloucester’s line only for Daly — impressive otherwise — to knock on unchallenged. The difference between the two sides in the opening half was accentuated in their handling, Munster routinely spilling possession and Gloucester’s being almost pristine. Hastings, again, added the extras for 21-0. The next 10 minutes played out in a similar vein. Rowntree may even have wryly laughed at the degree to which his first pre-season fixture in charge got off to an inauspicious start. But a more disorganised second half was ‘won’ by the hosts, and the defining memory of those in attendance will surely be the celebrations of teenager Ruadhán Quinn who scored his side’s third and final try with a beastly finish. In reality, though, it was a game not of two halves but of two games: Gloucester literally named a separate team for each half prior to kick-off and, by full-time, Munster had fielded all 31 players from their matchday squad.
