"It was up to Alli to perform, and were he to rekindle those early days at White Hart Lane, such a hefty fee would surely have been justified. The hope was that Lampard could spark something inside him, but given Everton's own problems, it may just have been the right player at the wrong time. It's one for me and for him - we're all pulling in the same direction, and I hope he can have a good season for us." This is a double PFA Young Player of the Year and scorer on his England debut and World Cup quarter-final. Dele Alli at Everton: It was never going to be simple (The Athletic)

The decision to cut ties with Dele is not purely a footballing one but now he is a puzzle for someone else to solve.

“If all Dele ever contributed was the cameo against Palace then in itself you could say he was worth taking a punt on.” Lampard had said he was an option in the false nine role but declined to use him. He had been running during the break and it set him in good stead to impress during early sessions at Finch Farm, when he regularly led the group in running sessions. “Sometimes you have to hear serious things to get the best out of yourself. “For me, full pelt in training is non-negotiable, and Dele needs — needed — to understand that is important for me and for him.” “Dele has to train and show he is in that thinking,” he said previously. The quality and desire on show during that memorable night could have been a watershed moment. “In the last two weeks, Dele’s training has been spot-on,” Lampard said, reflecting on the response to his intervention. “I don’t think the story was ever going to be simple with Dele after the last two or three years. That the pursuit of another faded star, in Dele, meant the club was lapsing back into the ways of old that had got them in trouble last season. The general opinion was that reviving Dele would be a huge challenge, particularly when Mourinho, Antonio Conte and others had already failed. Everton will also avoid having to fork out a £10million fee, as Dele falls seven appearances short of triggering the 20-match payment threshold agreed with Tottenham.

Dele Alli's rise and fall from England World Cup stardom to Turkey ... (Irish Mirror)

England international midfielder Dele Alli is hoping to revive his career at Besiktas, just four years after scoring for his country in a World Cup ...

He might have more miles in his legs than others of a similar age, having racked up the minutes so young, but there's still time for him to recover what he lost. That is what makes the difference between a top, top player and a player with top potential. There were brief moments where the quality shone through, be it at Spurs or even for flickers at Everton, but Alli never looked likely to respond to the kind of tough love Mourinho has been prone to offer. The move evokes memories of Joe Cole's switch to Lille back in 2011. “I am not expecting you to be the man of the match every game. It was under Pochettino that Alli played his best club football, and a lot of this can be put down to the manager understanding how to get the most out of his talents. That Alli doesn't even make it into the third group speaks to the scale of his drop-off. "We’ve seen the ability he has and with all those guys he is another one who is at an age where he could be playing for the Under-21s. With the pressure fully on, Alli did what was needed not just to travel but to start several games, but that's when the drop-off began. A few months back on loan in Milton Keynes suggested he might not have an immediate path to the first team, but that very quickly changed, with manager Mauricio Pochettino feeling like a perfect fit. "We need to help a player like Dele Alli improve, not put him in a box. Just five years have passed since he won the second of his two PFA Young Player of the Year awards, but a return to Gareth Southgate's England squad looks further away than ever.

Crazy, I know – but we have to remove the financial shackles of the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock somehow. They have this novel idea of picking up unknowns for peanuts to sell on at a whopping profit. It is totally maddening, yet another Premier League game upcoming where we will be desperately underpowered and almost certainly lose to a fired-up Brentford team who have, ya know, signed players in time for the season. We could have a team of Doucoures, all running around but unable to play a killer pass. He is doing the right thing by moving down to play at a lower level of football. He should be applauded for not being happy not playing, unlike many in our squad who are clinging to their fat contracts, knowing they are getting nowhere near the team. I think we are still looking back at our two greatest "Lazarus players" – Gray and Reid. The loan may be the best business we can do at this point. Playing off Wout Weghorst should suit him and if he can bag 10 goals and a few assists then I reckon either Besiktas or someone else will pay the reported £7M transfer fee. It's a good move for him as he gets his huge wages paid and perhaps another shot at recapturing his form. I think if he was stronger he may have already thrown in the towel. The midfielder’s switch to the Toffees was an unusual one, in that it was a free transfer but with huge add-on potential of up to £40m. The first add-on clause in the deal to send Alli to the Merseyside club was 20 appearances, with Spurs then reportedly being in for £10m. Spurs plucked him from MK Dons for a mere £5m in February 2015 and let him stay at the then League One club until that summer. MK Dons also had the security of a 20 per cent sell on fee should he fulfil that potential in the future.

CONFIRMED: Dele Alli leaves Everton for Besiktas on loan (Royal Blue Mersey)

The former Tottenham star's brief Goodison spell comes to an end.

Such a decline seems almost inexplicable to understand from the outside. It is almost hard to believe that Dele was part of the England side that reached the World Cup semi-finals four years ago (and a Tottenham team that reached the Canny Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not that naive.

Everton transfer news: Dele Alli completes Besiktas loan move as ... (Teamtalk.com)

Dele Alli has completed a loan move from Everton to Besiktas following his struggles since moving to Goodison Park in January.

The fact that he only made one Premier League start last term was down to a few factors. A run of matches, minutes and form with Besiktas will no doubt put him back in the spotlight. [the finances of the move](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12679252/dele-alli-everton-midfielder-completes-season-long-loan-move-to-besiktas-after-just-seven-months-at-goodison-park), Everton have received a £1.86million loan fee. Last term, all but one of Alli’s Premier League appearances for Everton came from the bench. Ultimately, though, if he does well, the decision over his future is out of their hands given Besiktas’ purchase option. Indeed, Everton would have owed Spurs £10million after 20 Premier League appearances for Alli.
