Taking to Twitter, her son Aengus shared a selfie alongside his mother as she kept up to date on the local goings on in the Westmeath Independent.

“I was going nowhere but it meant everything at the time. Happened to see your Mam and you leaving a hospital one evening weeks back. Another heartfelt message read: "Good to see your Mam looking really well again. I didn't realise she was ill, glad to hear she's back on her feet. She released her memoir a year later in 2012. Thanks for all the good wishes, prayers and support, we really appreciate it."
