I think minister Troy has given a full explanation and certainly, from my point of view, that stacks up,” Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said.

So, you’d have to look at that in the round. It’s very important that everyone should be afforded due process when it comes to these matters,” the Enterprise minister said. Speaking of Mr Troy, Mr Varadkar said: “He made an error in his declarations, he’s made a full statement explaining that, he’s now going to write to the clerk of the Dail and to SIPO to amend his declaration, and it’s up to those bodies, if they feel that it’s necessary to carry out any further investigation, well, then, that’s going to be up to them. A spokesperson for Sipo confirmed to the PA news agency that there are no provisions under the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995 that require TDs and Ministers to disclose the sale of property to a public body. A spokesperson for Westmeath County Council said in a statement to the PA news agency: “The Council required a portion of Mr Troy’s site in order to provide access to its housing site at Saint Brigid’s Green.” “I know he’s going to contact the clerk in the Dáil and Sipo (the Standards in Public Office commission) to amend the declaration that he’s made and I’m sure they’ll take it from there.

A local Junior Minister has admitted he made an “error” by not declaring a house he owned and subsequently sold to Westmeath County Council in 2018.

As I was no longer in possession of this property on 31 December 2018 it was not registered and this was my error,” he conceded. I did not wish to stand in way of the development of social houses for older people.” “I had been under the impression only property in my possession on December 31 of the registerable year was to be registered and not properties sold during that year.

Fianna Fáil Junior Minister Robert Troy has published a substantial list of changes to the Dáil register of members' interests.

During the course of my review, it was brought to my attention that this property is in fact registered in the sole name of the co-owner. • 2019 – I have now declared the sale of Ashlawn, Clonbalt Woods, Longford. • 2011 – 2021 I have now included all properties under land and occupation. • 2021 – I have now added RMT Management Limited. That is clearly an error, and I will take the necessary steps now to have this corrected. I was unaware that the process was not formally completed until 2021 – hence my error.
