The Dutch team, Team DutchSail - Janssen de Jong mixed, rose to the pressure to win Act 4 of the 69F Youth Foiling Gold Cup 2022 in Torbole on Lake Garda.

We are going to make some changes to the race format so the teams that make it on to the podium will have to have worked very hard for their reward." It will give them a great understanding of the communication and teamwork that is required when you're foiling and racing at high speeds." It encourages teams to think in advance, to have a clear understanding of the rules, of the game. It's going to be challenging on the sea, you can have waves in Barcelona, but we have seen the boat can race and sail in wavy conditions. So now we are starting to see that good tactics are the key difference, the racing is coming down to the finer details." After six days of intense competition across 48 races in perfect medium airs conditions, the outcome of the regatta all came down to the final double-points race.

"It's a situation to keep an eye on, even if from the point of view of using the lake - like wind surfing, sailing - there is no problem," Mr Ginepro told AFP. The pedalos lie far from the water's edge and the flat stone slabs around the Sirmione peninsula are exposed after drought reduced the level of Italy's Lake Garda to a 15-year low. "We are currently at 30 centimetres (12 inches) above the (benchmark) hydrographic level," compared to an average for this time of year of between 80 and 100, said Gianluca Ginepro, head of Garda Unico, which promotes the lake.

Lake Garda in Italy shrinks to near-historic low amid severe drought (News9 Live)

Usually submerged rocks were exposed as water in the lake dropped to critically low levels.

"The lake is usually a meter or more than a meter higher," he said from the rocks. On Friday, the Garda's water was nearly 26°C, several degrees warmer than the average August temperature of 22°C and nearing the Caribbean Sea's average of around 27°C. The parched condition of the Po, Italy's longest river, has already caused billions of euros in losses to farmers who normally rely on it to irrigate fields and rice paddies. But in late July, they reduced the amount to protect the lake and the financially important tourism tied to it. Before, you could hear the noise of the waves breaking up here. Tourists flocking to the popular northern lake Friday for the start of Italy's key summer long weekend found a vastly different landscape than in past years. We were a bit shocked when we arrived because we had our usual walk around, and the water wasn't there." He confirmed the lake was losing two centimeters of water a day. Italy's worst drought in decades has reduced Lake Garda, the country's largest lake, to near its lowest level ever recorded, exposing swaths of previously underwater rocks and warming the water to temperatures that approach the average in the Caribbean Sea. Northern Italy hasn't seen significant rainfall for months, and snowfall this year was down 70 per cent, drying up important rivers like the Po, which flows across Italy's agricultural and industrial heartland. "We found the landscape had changed a lot. To compensate, authorities allowed more water from Lake Garda to flow out to local rivers — 70 cubic meters of water per second.

Water levels on Italy's Lake Garda drop to 15-year low as drought ... (The Local Italy)

Local tourism promoters insisted on Tuesday that summer activities can still go ahead on Italy's northern lakes, despite receding waters.

How strictly the rules are enforced is hard to say. It’s not uncommon in rural areas for properties to have a well or similar that provides fresh but untreated water. Watch out for a mention of acqua di pozzo (well water). - Limit the amount of tap water used on gardens – install containers to collect and store rainwater to use instead (some areas have more stringent measures in place on gardens) Tap water use restrictions only apply during the day in some cases: residents of Villorba, near Treviso, are not allowed to use potable water to water gardens, wash vehicles or fill up pools between 6am and 11pm. This depends on the level of drought restriction in place in your area, but most parts of Italy now have some restrictions on private swimming pools. For example, in some parts of Varese you may need to get permission from the water company before filling your pool, while the comune of Florence has a complete ban in place. I have a well on my property, can I use water from the well to water the garden? Check local restrictions in your area, but some authorities have specifically forbidden the use of water for watering plants, or only allow them to be watered in the evening. Such a rule usually means supplies are restricted during the night only, typically between 10pm-7am, but if you have water use restrictions in place in your area check your comune‘s website for full details of what you’re allowed to do and when. But in some areas, municipal authorities have placed restrictions on the supply of tap water as local supplies threaten to run dry. For example, in the Veneto region, dozens of towns and comuni including Verona, Villorba and Montebelluna have imposed restrictions on the use of potable water for anything other than domestic and hygienic purposes.
