Harps move to the bottom of the table for the second time this season as they couldn’t find a way past the UCD defence. But the 10-men of UCD would take the lead just before the hour mark as Higgins found Caffrey from 30 yards out, and the 19-year-old took a heavy touch and smashed it into the top corner from way out. As Harps failed to clear the danger Higgins and Lonergan linked up to find Keane on the edge of the box and his shot was well saved on to the post by James McKeown but the rebound fell to Higgins who fired into the net with ease just on the water break. The next best chance of the half fell to The Students as Lonergan’s header to Keane gave him a massive chance but McKeown got out quick and spread himself well to save, 1-1 at half-time. But a terrific strike from Evan Caffrey gave UCD the lead and Harps couldn’t find a way past the 10-men in the remainder. Harps took the lead as Dara Keane was booked for pulling down Ethan Boyle in the box and Filip Mihaljević scored from the spot.

Finn Harps drop to the bottom after defeat at UCD (Donegal Live)

UCD, who played for 40 minutes with ten men, came from behind to defeat Harps in a relegation six-pointer at the UCD Bowl and the Students climbed above ...

UCD - who included Donegal men Sam Todd, Michael Gallagher and Jack Keaney from the off - were level when Donal Higgins followed up to convert after Keane struck against the inside of a post from distance. Harps began on the front foot and were ahead in the 18th minute. Mihaljević stepped up to slot the spot kick - the ninth conceded by UCD this season - into the bottom corner. UCD were incensed, but they took the lead six minutes later when a wonder strike by Caffrey from distance flew beyond a stunned James McKeown. Dylan Duffy and Higgins worked the ball into Caffrey, who let fly with menace from 30 yards. Again, goalkeeper Mark Anthony McGinley - who lost his place to new recruit McKeown - was not a part of Harps’ match day squad. Finn Harps slipped to the bottom of the Premier Division as UCD came from behind to defeat Ollie Horgan’s side in Friday night’s relegation battle in Belfield.

Harps’ play became ragged in the last quarter and they resorted to long balls into the box, which the UCD defence dealt with very capably, and even with the lengthy added time, they were unable to get a scarcely deserved equaliser. McWoods had a chance to regain the lead a few minutes later when he took advantage of sloppy play at the back by UCD, but his shot was high and wild. Harps started the better of the two sides and mounted a number of good attacks in the opening stages of the match but even with the advantage of an extra man for most of the second half, their play gradually became more ragged and despite six minutes of injury time at the end, they were unable to fashion an equaliser.

Captain Jack Keaney got on the end of a Dylan Duffy free-kick but his header never had the power to trouble James McKeown. The midfielder's drilled shot from just outside the area cannoned back off KcKeown’s right-hand post. It's now two wins and a draw for Andy Myler's Students over the Donegal side. Harps huffed and puffed for much of the remainder of the game, failing to register a real chance on target. https://t.co/7rzXOfm8p9 #LOI Two minutes later College were behind after conceding their ninth penalty of the season, Dara Keane livid with himself after he was adjudged to have pulled down Ethan Boyle as they went for a Donelon free-kick into the area.
