It was a great fight between two unbeaten prospects but Murphy had too much to take a 79-74 win on the scorecard. Walker having to be patient, but he did find some success at the end of the second, pinning his opponent to the corner at the end of the round. Shot of the round was a solid body shot that you would have heard in the car park. McCrory appeared to have some blood around his eye at the end of he round. End of the fourth He had Periban down twice in the round before another barage of shots had the Mexican tumbling again and the referee stepped in to wave it off! Jenkins found some success at the end of the round, appeared to land some punishing body shots that forced McKenna to cover up. He seems to be revelling in the who occasion. Jenkins skips back to his corner at the end of it. More of the same punishing action in the third. Sticks to his boxing and lands the cleaner shots in the ninth. End of the 6th

'A loss is not going to define me' - How Michael Conlan picked his ... (Irish Examiner)

The Irish Olympian's knockout – at the hands of Leigh Wood - was one that families have nightmares about.

So I tried to finish him in the next round and he was out on his feet for most of that round. “I always felt I was comfortable in the fight, I felt it was easy. I know for me to get back in that position I need to have a good fight, a hard fight and a credible opponent. He winced every time I hit him to the body and he was hurt every time I hit him to the head. “A lot of fighters would take a lot of time out and say they need to recover,” he said. Probably the worst thing was me knocking him down in the first round because it made me expend so much energy trying to get him out of there. “The only way I can look at it is to say ‘that’s boxing, it happens’,” he said. “I was awake on the floor,” Conlan said. By the next morning, he was already talking about coming back to Nottingham for a rematch. “The last thing I remember is going out for the twelfth and then it’s vague. Was it bad?’ And I said ‘We’ll talk about it later’.” It had been the biggest night of his career, as he challenged Wood for the WBA featherweight title in Nottingham in March. For most of the 12 rounds things had been going well.

McKenna refuses to push out and give himself some space to work. The Belfast man should stick with this approach and 'box' Jenkins as opposed to 'fighting' him. Both guys fighting in a phonebox. But then he gets in tight and Jenkins looks good. McKenna stays long and looks decent. Jenkins calls McKenna on and clearly wants McKenna to go back to engaging in tight. In our co-main event, Tyrone McKenna outlasted Chris Jenkins to get a decision victory. Conlan recovered quickly however and held on to pick up the 17th win of his professional career. Conlan started to fire on all cylinders at this point, and dropped Marriaga in rounds seven, eight and nine. Copy and paste these last few rounds. Seconds later, the Mexican hit the deck following a strong left hook. After that, Kurt Walker came through a stern test in Marcos Gabriel Martinez to move to 3-0 in his professional career.

Conlan picked himself up to finish on the front foot, ensuring this homecoming was a glorious one. The visitor pawed the jab in an effort to draw a mistake from Conlan who remained poker-faced.
