Chelsea have travelled to Italy for their final games of pre-season against Udinese, after finishing an eye-opening tour of the United States and there are ...
Chelsea won their penultimate pre-season game against Udinese with a 3-1 win in Italy on Friday night.
It was certainly great to see the side pressing tremendously for 90 minutes. The link up in the first half was refreshing to see. The showdown with Udinese showed that the side are very close to full fitness. What was evident throughout the game, the pair were playing higher up the pitch without fear. In the showdown with Udinese, Sterling was sharp from the off. Thankfully, the club were able to bring in Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. The Senegal international started his first game against Udinese. Right from the off, his presence was well-known.
Goals from N'Golo Kante, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount helped Chelsea defeat Udinese 3-1 and lift the mood heading into the Premier League season.
Sterling's first effort was a backheeled one after a cutback from Kai Havertz, and the second was a deflected drive from the edge of the box that hit the post. After an excellent first-half performance, Mount was a little quieter after the break. The Spaniard may harbour ambitions of joining Barcelona this summer but was given 90 minutes in Udine. Alonso didn't have too much defending to do – always a positive – yet wasn't his usual threat in the final third. An influential first-half performance from Jorginho continued into the second period as he moved the ball sharply across the pitch and was able to feed the Chelsea forwards regularly. The Frenchman almost grabbed his second goal of the night with a fine turn and shot from the edge of the box and was able to play 90 minutes. The 37-year-old didn't have to overdo things in the second half as Chelsea kept Udinese at bay.

Chelsea scrapped through a 2-1 victory over Club America before losing to Charlotte FC on post-match penalties. A plethora of changes in the second half hampered the flow of the game, however, Mason Mount had the last laugh as he added the icing on the cake to cast Chelsea's victory in stone. - Kante, Mount and a first-ever Chelsea goal from Raheem Sterling were enough to arrest the club's poor pre-season form
There was plenty for Thomas Tuchel to be happy about as his team came through this tie against top-flight European opposition in tiring conditions with a ...
It didn’t produce much in the way of chances, though, apart from a driven Mount cross which was theatrically beaten away by Silvestri. The game soon settled back into a familiar pattern of Chelsea dominance and we twice went close to extending our lead. It was substitute Hudson-Odoi who twisted free on the right and drilled low across goal, leaving Mount a simple finish from point-blank range. The pace dropped slightly after the water break midway through the first half, but we were no less dominant for it and our superiority was underlined by Sterling’s first goal in a Chelsea shirt. We were still having things mostly our own way, even if another goal continued to evade us when Sterling’s deflected strike from the edge of the box hit the post and bounced out. Mount in particular was winning possession in dangerous positions frequently, and was unlucky not to see a blue shirt on the end of a low drive across goal on one such occasion. Instead, it was a smart combination between Mount and Sterling which provided the first chance of the game, just shy of 10 minutes in.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Barcelona wonderkid Pablo Gavi as the Blues target a new midfielder this summer.
Chelsea could get revenge by pursuing a deal for Gavi by activating the 17-year-old's £86million release clause, but the youngster has dealt a blow to the Blues by dropping a hint over his future during Barca's pre-season tour. N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge this summer and Thomas Tuchel is understood to want to strengthen the midfield area of his squad. Barcelona have prioritised signing the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde despite the club's ongoing financial struggles.
Chelsea are interested in signing Wesley Fofana from Leicester City this summer and Thomas Tuchel has a secret weapon up his sleeve that may soften ...
Colwill seems to be behind Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly, Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge – raising big question marks over his future at the club. Tuchel wants to bring in at least one more centre-back this summer, but the German would prefer two. It appears Tuchel does not see him as a key member of the first-team squad as he continues to pursue other defenders. The asking price of Leicester could force Chelsea to look elsewhere, however. This puts Leicester in a really strong position, meaning there is no immediate rush whatsoever to sanction the sale of the highly-rated defender. The Blues missed out on Jules Kounde, who has now agreed a deal to join Barcelona, with Thomas Tuchel desperate to bring in at least one more central defender.
Sevilla's sporting director Monchi has revealed that Chelsea had essentially bought Jules Kounde before Barcelona swooped in.
The player was sold to Chelsea, it was all agreed. “But then doubts appeared, not about the player’s quality, but about his profile, whether they preferred a different type of player. Monchi said that Chelsea had an agreement, and that “the player was sold to Chelsea”, before certain issues arose.
Former Premier League forward Gabby Agbonlahor has said what clubs should be trying to sign Chelsea's Armando Broja.Divider(Variant 1)
“The clubs will just have to hope that he can do it over a whole season, not just six months.” “He’s shown what he can do in the Premier League. He’s a threat, he’s big, he’s strong. “Clubs will want him, but he tailed off in the second half of the season.
Chelsea hold a 2-1 lead in their pre-season friendly against Udinese with N'Golo Kante and Raheem Sterling on target for the Blues.
After a quiet pre-season, Havertz needed a strong performance to be assured of his place in the side for the opening game of the Premier League season. The 27-year-old caught the eye with driving runs from deep and did find the back of the net late in the half, albeit in fortunate circumstances as the ball rebounded off the forward and over the line from close range. It was something of a surprise to see Alonso start at left wing-back ahead of Ben Chilwell – and the Spaniard didn't quite do enough in the opening half when in several promising positions. Took the Antonio Rudiger spot on the left of the back three, Koulibaly looked completely at ease in the Chelsea defence. He stepped in when required and was cute with his use of the ball to get Chelsea into the Udinese half. Chelsea's captain was used on the right of the back three and was comfortable in the early stages.

This may be due to the fact that a certain Premier League club are closing in on the duo. It's why Tuchel has named just six substitutes on the bench; they are all expected to be given game time, but five of the starters will get an invaluable 90 minutes under their belts. The 27-year-old caught the eye with driving runs from deep and did find the back of the net late in the half, albeit in fortunate circumstances as the ball rebounded off the forward and over the line from close range. He fashioned an early chance for Raheem Sterling with some brilliant footwork and was twice denied from getting on the scoresheet by reaction saves from Marco Silvestri. 8 Grabbed a deserved goal late on to round off the Bules' victory. What a lucky goal that was! The England international started as Chelsea's number nine and could have got on the scoresheet after being teed up by Mount, but Silvestri made a smart save. After an excellent first-half performance, Mount was a little quieter after the break. The academy graduate continued to cause problems down the Chelsea left and was too unselfish in trying to tee up Sterling after breaking into the box rather than firing toward goal. Work continues off the pitch as Todd Boehly navigates a crucial first transfer window as Chelsea co-owner. A good night's shift from the team. Sport Bild have reported that just like Romelu Lukaku did with Inter Milan, Werner has decided to take a 50% pay cut to force through his RB Leipzig return.

Tammy Abraham has been speaking to the Italian media about his time at Chelsea and whether he has any regret about leaving the Blues in the summer of 2021.
It got to a point towards the back end of the season where I was stropping, I was annoyed, because I'm working hard in training and I wasn't getting any chances. "I was the [joint] highest scorer in the FA Cup [with four goals] and to be told I wasn't in the squad for the final, you can only imagine how I felt," Abraham said. I could understand if I wasn't in great form or wasn't training well or had a bad attitude. "It wasn't a nice feeling, but I was there to support the boys. Under Tuchel, the striker had not started a game since February 2021 up until when he left and he was also left out of the squad for both the FA Cup and Champions League final. Abraham has got a very high potential and that's why some Chelsea supporters were bemused when he was allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal last summer.

It remains to be seen as to who could come in before the end of the transfer window as Tuchel will be hopeful of making at least one addition to his side. Chelsea could look to make a bid for the defender before they face Everton on the first match of the Premier League season but it remains to be seen as to the level of interest from the Blues. It is unclear as to whether Tuchel would look to bring the French international to the club or whether he would have agreed to join.
Even Liverpool depart from their transfer template sometimes, but Todd Boehly is taking a big risk by going for a 'Virgil van Dijk' move so early at ...
Even on the highest estimations of Fofana, it is questionable whether Boehly will be getting a player as transformative as Van Dijk, not least because the rest of the team is still not wholly in order. The new owner is not completely oblivious to the market realities. Harry Maguire managed 6.65. In short, he is a very bright prospect, and it is not hard to see why Chelsea and Boehly have him on their list. FSG broke from their usual template in order to take Liverpool up to the next level, and it worked. New majority owner Todd Boehly has appointed himself as interim sporting director, and he is quickly finding out that the transfer market is no fun to navigate: having missed out on Matthijs de Ligt and now Jules Koundé, he has once again turned his attentions elsewhere. However, when it comes to buying players, Van Dijk was very much the exception rather than the rule for Liverpool. This was ultimately reflected in his record £75m transfer fee.

The former Gunners midfielder told talkSPORT: "I think Chelsea are going to struggle this season. He told Sevilla's club's website : "On Thursday night Kounde was ‘sold’ to Chelsea, for a fee accepted by all parties. There have been a number of departures, including club-record signing Romelu Lukaku who has returned to Inter Milan on loan after just one season.
N'Golo Kante, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount scored as Chelsea ended their 2022 pre-season on a high on Friday night by winning 3-1 against Udinese in ...
Mount restored Chelsea's well-earned two-goal margin in the final minute of the 90 with a tap-in following a cross from Callum Hudson-Odoi. The former Manchester City forward collected a Jorginho pass with a sublime first touch before feigning to shoot in an attempt to trick keeper Marco Silvestri. N'Golo Kante, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount were all on target for the Blues in Italy, where ex-Everton star Gerard Deulofeu netted a consolation goal for the hosts.
Chelsea are looking at other targets after losing out on Jules Kounde to Barcelona.
Whether Tuchel gets the above remains to be seen, with Chelsea clearly starting to run out of options. Signing Dumfries would allow Tuchel to move Reece James into central defence, though doing something like that is likely to be a last resort for the Blues boss. Barcelona have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Sevilla to sign the defender, leaving the west London club needing to consider other options like Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana, who is now thought to be on their radar.

By that point, Chelsea were already a goal to good. Chelsea came into the game following a disappointing 4-0 defeat to London rivals Arsenal and a loss on penalties to MLS side Charlotte FC as the club prepares for their first season under new ownership. Chelsea hold an interest in signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard this summer as Thomas Tuchel continues his search for new players.
Pavard was asked about the best player he had ever faced back in 2018 – when Hazard was still at Chelsea – and the versatile defender was swift with his answer. His deal now runs until 2027, meaning the Foxes are in a very strong bargaining position. He is considering his future, with numerous parties said to be interested in his services. According to BILD reporter Christian Falk, Pavard would be willing to move to Chelsea this summer. At the moment, I am focused on the national team." Chelsea hold an interest in signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard this summer as Thomas Tuchel continues his search for new players.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Leicester City's Wesley Fofana following their unsuccessful attempt at signing Sevilla's Jules Kounde.
The addition of Fofana and Koulibaly saw the Blues improve defensively in the league, with Tuchel's side conceding 29 goals - four fewer than last season. Chelsea improved defensively after his arrival, though a lack of goals proved costly, maybe hinting that investment at the other end may also be needed. Sadio Mane then scored one minute into added time, enough for Bayern to lift the trophy. Here's Chelsea's Best XI for the 2022/23 season, according to our simulation. Kai Havertz led the line after scoring 24 goals in all competitions, whilst Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount sat in-behind. With Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen having departed this summer, the Blues signed Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as a replacement, though with Cesar Azpilicueta also tipped to leave, more depth is needed in defence.
Chelsea are keen on Benjamin Pavard, who quite fancies a move to Stamford Bridge, but there's a hitch. Also: an update on Man Utd and Benjamin Sesko...
And, according to Bild, the Blues’ interest in Pavard is most welcome. There have been a few whispers around Manchester United’s interest in Benjamin Sesko in recent days. Which suits Chelsea down to the ground.

Kounde agreed on the sale to Chelsea, there was an agreement with the player." Sevilla director of football Monchi confirmed Chelsea had verbally agreed a deal to sign Jules Kounde before Barcelona swooped in and hijacked the deal to sign the 23-year-old. "Last Thursday, we reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea and the player,” Monchi told SFC Radio. “When everything was closed and there was a good offer, there were some doubts on Chelsea’s side and everything stopped.
Chelsea prevailed over Udinese 3-1 in well-tempered pre-season action at the Dacia Arena on Friday evening.
That aside, his all around play was extremely positive, displaying a deft centre of gravity on the turn frequently and demonstrating his world-class dribbling. His left foot will always remain a dangerous asset in crossing positions, but it's his deficiencies at the back which cause the most collective headaches. There were no signs of ring rust from the two time Premier League champion, who was exceptional at progressing the ball and got his just reward with a stunning low drive from distance. Oozes confidence and authority on the ball and, on the very early evidence at least, seems a natural fit for the fabled number 26 shirt. The first half performance was a far cry and time removed from the events of last week, no doubt much to the delight of Thomas Tuchel who raised reservations about his side's readiness for the season opener against Everton. Raheem Sterling piled on the misery with his first Chelsea goal just 17 minutes later, yet time remained for former Watford man Gerard Deulofeu to scramble home a rebound and keep Thomas Tuchel's men honest on the stroke of half-time.

A transfer insider has spoken about Chelsea's interest in Leicester City's Wesley Fofana this summer.
- Report: Chelsea & Barcelona Have Held 'Secret Conversations' About Manchester United Target Frenkie de Jong Dean Jones of Give Me Sport has confirmed that Chelsea have indeed held talks about potentially signing Fofana this summer. That 'hefty fee' is said to be around £85million. With that being Leicester's current valuation of the Frenchman, it could turn Chelsea off a potential transfer this summer.
Chelsea ended their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Udinese at the Dacia Arena thanks to goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Hakim Ziyech.
There were a couple of flashes of his quality in the opening period – one excellent cross should've been converted by Broja – and after the break, but not enough for a player of Ziyech's undoubted quality. The American was on the periphery of the game throughout and was reluctant to drive at his opposition defender. The academy graduate was quieter after the interval and is unlikely to usurp Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic in the midfield pecking order. The Croatian wasn't as influential after the break but offered a reassuring presence and constant outlet when the Blues had possession. The academy graduate was used at right wing-back and had been quiet in the opening period until he opened the scoring with a deft lob over Daniele Padelli. Back in northern Italy after his season-long loan at Venezia last term, Ampadu played in the centre of the Chelsea backline and was always willing to try to move the Blues up the pitch quickly.
During the first cooling break, the cameras cut to Thomas Tuchel having an intense conversation with RLC, who had a monster of a game after that point.

Chelsea reportedly want two bonuses of €1.5million (£1.25m) in the deal. Napoli would have to pay loan fees, obviously, and the two clubs have yet to agree on bonuses. Report: Chelsea agree to pay majority of player's salary to send him on loan
Premier League club Chelsea are reportedly willing to let Kepa and Timo Werner leave on loan in the summer transfer window.
The two clubs are currently negotiating a loan transfer and a deal is getting ‘closer’. Now 27 years old, Kepa should be aiming to be a club’s No. 1 goalkeeper, and it is not a great look for Chelsea to have a £72m player warm the bench every matchday. This may be due to the fact that a certain Premier League club are closing in on the duo. However, the player now has dropped a number of hints that he will give new manager Erik ten Hag at least one season. Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly have so far been the only two senior signings in the men's set-up, but there could be plenty of movement on the incomings and outgoings front as we fast approach the Everton Premier League season opener next weekend.

Loftus-Cheek continued to impress from right wing-back, setting up further chances for Ziyech and Chilwell around the hour mark. A flowing Chelsea move ended with Chilwell picking out Gallagher, who spun on the edge of the box and curled towards the top left-hand corner. Broja fired at Padelli’s legs after yet another enterprising foray forward from Kovacic, who eventually got the assist his performance deserved in time added on at the end of the first half. Chilwell had a good sight of goal in the second minute, only for his shot to be blocked, and Gallagher fired over from a Ziyech pass. The hosts broke, and Sandi Lovric shot straight at Kepa with his second good opportunity of the morning. From a Gallagher corner, Broja headed goalwards and Bram Nuytinck just about diverted it onto the post and out.
Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has discussed Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling's performances against Udinese in their final match of pre-season.
Chelsea will be hoping to compete at the top of the table once more as they look to make further additions this summer to add to the signings of Sterling and Koulibaly. The pair are the only two signings that Tuchel has been able to make this summer as he looked to add to his squad in order to compete at the top of the Premier League next season. Koulibaly made his first start for the Blues in Italy, while Sterling got further minutes in his tank ahead of the new season.

Azpilicueta's long-term future at Chelsea was called into question towards the end of last season, with his current deal in west London set to expire next summer. Combined, the trio have played 1,887 official club games. In a week's time, Chelsea begin their 2022/23 top-flight campaign. As a result, Thomas Tuchel is yet to lose in normal time to Jurgen Klopp. Given the length of the Jules Kounde transfer saga, which spanned more than 12-months, it feels like a long time since Chelsea's original interest in De Ligt surfaced. Chalobah was part of a defensive unit that improved as the game progressed and will be pushing for a start against Everton in a week's time. The senior member of the Chelsea back three given his 30 appearances last term, Chalobah was confident in possession and ready to step into midfield to help the Blues overload the Italian side. That is less true of Chelsea, although there is no doubting the quality of their coach and their squad." Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour should hear transfer rumours linking him to Everton and want to join the Merseyside club.
It’s been reported by the Daily Mail that Everton are monitoring the 21-year-old midfielder. The biggest tick in the box about Gilmour moving to Everton would have to be the presence of their manager Frank Lampard. The main problem with his Norwich loan is that he fell out of favour and ultimately didn’t get enough minutes in a side that were relegated from the Premier League. However, the adversity that he faced is going to be a brilliant learning curve for his development.
Chelsea are interested in signing Wolves centre back Max Kilman, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
When asked about centre back alternatives after the disappointment of missing out on Kounde, he told GIVEMESPORT: “There are other players that they’re interested in. WhoScored gave only three players in the squad a higher rating, and two of those were Adama Traore, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Barcelona, and Toti, who made just four appearances. Despite having just under four years remaining on his Molineux contract, Kilman is valued at just £17m by CIES, which suggests that he could be available for relatively cheap compared to the likes of Ake, Kounde and Presnel Kimpembe, who’s also been linked in this window.
Chelsea are expected to make at least four more signings before the summer transfer window closes for business.

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri could be on the move to Lazio this summer with former head coach Maurizio Sarri keen for a reunion.
He could play in a back four, as wing-back in a back five and he could even slot in on the left side of a back three. With Champions League matches on top of the Premier League, where you can now make five substitutions in the 90 minutes, he should still have plenty of opportunities if he is chosen as a backup option for Tuchel to utilise. That didn't happen and the German didn't have a real chance to get on the scoresheet in Friday night's game. He needs to be able to pick the lock, to create space where there appears to be none. He doesn't appear to have the same confidence to skip beyond challenges and accelerate beyond defenders. Given the sheer number of games Chelsea have to play this term and the condensed fixture list due to the winter World Cup in Qatar, Gallagher will be given opportunities first-team opportunities. There is no doubt he now takes his place through the middle of the Blues' attack against Everton. It resulted in Chelsea playing their most free-flowing football of pre-season and ensured the England international maintained the goalscoring threat he developed at Man City. Not only is he behind Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic but Conor Gallagher appears to have jumped ahead of him in the pecking order after the England international returned from his loan spell at Crystal Palace. Afforded only two 45-minute appearances during Chelsea's tour of the USA, Sterling was let loose against Udinese and led the Blues' attack. And the second is the academy graduate has showcased his versatility over the last 12 months and again against Udinese. I don’t think he in particular needs a long time to adapt to our game because N’Golo is N’Golo and everybody is aware he is a key player. Due to his vaccination status, Kante was unable to join the Chelsea first-team squad on their tour. That was the role vacated by Antonio Rudiger earlier this summer and given the German's performances under Tuchel, there are big shoes to fill for Koulibaly.
