I’m really intrigued as to how the Bluebirds are going to get on in Morison’s first full season in charge. I have to say that I can’t see past Cardiff for this one, though it could well be tight. It has been an extremely busy summer for Cardiff, with Morison overseeing a major overhaul ahead of his first full season in charge.

But the least we should be leaving here is with a point. The lad's made a run and it's gone off Andrew's (Omobamidele) calf. Norwich's Dean Smith: "I've worked with Romaine a long time and he's gone for the pass without a shadow of a doubt. "We spoke at half-time about how our two number eights didn't get high enough up in the first half to be able to get into the box to score a goal. He loves the game, he loves the tactical side of it and understands it really well. It simplifies the game for him and allows him to go and have moments like that.

Ten-man Bluebirds produce statement win over Norwich thanks to ... (WalesOnline)

The Bluebirds hosted the Canaries on the opening day of the season at Cardiff City Stadium.

Chaos! Ralls with a professional foul on Pukki before Hanley storms in and pushes Ng to the ground. Sawyers smacks it from 25 yards and it wobbles and dips into the bottom corner. It was a necessary foul and he can't have much to complain about. What a victory to start the season, though, eh? Just moments later, Ng ragged Milot Rashica to the floor to stop a counter-attack. He left the pitch to even louder applause from the home fans. Grant Hanley and Andrew Omobamidele came hurtling in and steamrolled Ng to the deck. But it lit the fuse under Norwich, specifically Todd Cantwell, and Cardiff were made to work to defend their lead. In fact, they shot out of the traps after the break and that's when they rocked Norwich. After some tricky feet from O'Dowda, Sawyers picked the ball up from him from 25 yards. Cardiff dictated the play early on, but on the 20-minute mark Norwich fired a warning shot from the boot of Todd Cantwell which quickly jolted the Bluebirds fans upright. Morison promised a new Bluebirds style and the fans saw just what he was referring to early on, with the hosts producing some lovely, patient build-up play through slick passing. It all got a bit niggly late on, as both Perry Ng and Grant Hanley were sent off following two bookable offences, but the whole affair turned a bit sour.

Cardiff start with victory in bad-tempered clash against Norwich (BT Sport)

New-look Cardiff began their Sky Bet Championship campaign with a 1-0 victory over Norwich in a bad-tempered affair in the Welsh capital.

Cardiff had attempted to play through the thirds, with Morison keen to put greater emphasis on a passing game than some of his predecessors. McLean found Cantwell with a precise pass and the debut-making Ryan Allsop had to produce a sprawling save to stop the ball from finding the bottom corner of his net.
