Graham Alexander's departure has forced the Fir Park club into the search for a new boss.
Motherwell chiefs will now start putting together a shortlist of candidates to consider while the fans will also have their eye on certain figures within the game as they make their opinions known. The Fir Park club announced Graham Alexander had left his position as boss in a statement earlier this evening following his side's Europa Conference League qualifying defeat to Irish outfit Sligo Rovers last night. He spent eight-and-a-half years in charge of St Johnstone between 2011 and 2020, and led the club to glory in the Scottish Cup in 2014. After retiring as a player back in 2016, he went on to work with his former club Rangers as a youth coach and earned a good reputation in the role. Last season, he also took on a role as a coach with the first team and could now have to be persuaded to leave the Parkhead club if Motherwell try and move for him. He also had two spells in caretaker charge of the Toffees and clearly caught the management bug as he decided to leave Goodison Park at the end of last season in search of opportunities.
