Officers began the evacuation procedure at around 9:00 pm after hours of firefighters taming the blaze.

"Please remain to keep windows and doors closed if you are downwind of the fire. Two members of the Dublin Fire Brigade were taken to the hospital for injuries but no residents were hurt it has been confirmed. It’s likely some road closures remain in effect this morning and the advice to people living in the surrounding areas is to continue shutting windows and doors if you are downwind of the fire site.

It said there were two areas of operation to protect homes on Glenaula Road and Ballinclea Heights. “At the moment it’s been scaled back now — there’s actually three pumping appliances in attendance and the Air Corps helicopter is going to lift off from Baldonnel shortly and do some water drops this morning.” Two firefighters were treated in St Vincent’s hospital overnight for injuries.
