The line was closed between Dalkey and Bray. While people are understandably anxious to reach the station, on such a busy and warm day, this has turned a delay outside Bray of just over 5 minutes into one which has impacted services for up to two hours. Gardai and emergency services were at the scene with huge crowds left standing around the tracks. All services to the seaside town were temporarily stopped as a result.

“Unfortunately, the train was waiting for 5½ minutes when a small group forced open the doors and went on to the track. We always advise coming to the air display early if at all possible as it is a hugely popular event,” the statement said. Mr Kenny added: “We will be working to ensure we get people away from the Bray air show afterwards without incident.
