Minnesota 4-0 Everton: Dele Alli's woeful miss summed up Toffees ... (GiveMeSport)

Video shows Dele Alli miss an absolute sitter for Everton last night and rival fans are loving it.

Whether he couldn’t sort his feet out in time or was just being lackadaisical, we aren’t sure. The ball slips through the grasp of the keeper and the nearest defender but Alli seemingly tries to tap it home with outside of his right foot, only to send it wide of the post. All in all, it was a disastrous night of preparations for the Merseyside club and Lampard’s got his work cut out to get them into shape ahead of the new campaign.

Minnesota United 4-0 Everton: Match Recap & Highlights (Royal Blue Mersey)

Evertonians could argue they were unlucky with some of the goals, but in the end who dares wins, and Minnesota dared to play. You could say Inchy’s side were lucky to be ahead by three, but were certainly good value for the lead with their endeavour. Lewis Warrington was looking good again just like against Arsenal but looked to have tweaked something, coming off soon after. Just like on Saturday there was an immediate improvement in the Blues’ cohesion with the ball, but they continued to be wasteful when the chances were presented to them. The Blues started reasonably well, moving the ball around decently as Minnesota sat back. The Loons’ star Emmanuel Reynoso made no mistake from the spot, sending Jordan Pickford the wrong way.

How will Frank Lampard cope with Everton ambitions beyond mere ... (Football365.com)

Frank Lampard has had a stop-start managerial career and Everton have a stop-start managerial history. Will they benefit from this long summer?

With less than two-and-a-half weeks to go before the start of the new Premier League season, this was not a sign that much has improved. No team is going to get very far without “a great work ethic and energy” while mentioning that “we’ve made some adjustments in the analysis, sports science and medical departments” may make cynics wonder how much attention was being given to them before. The names of Usmanov’s companies were taken down from the hoardings at Goodison Park and plans for the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock had to be re-evaluated and refinanced. And there were mitigating circumstances surrounding his arrival at Everton. There was little opportunity to strengthen a dysfunctional squad which had in previous years come to resemble the financial mess that was going on behind the scenes at the club. But when Russian tanks rolled over the border into Ukraine in February, the writing was on the wall for that source of ready income. The suspicion remains that he is the Little Lord Fauntleroy of the Premier League, parachuted into several prestigious positions on the basis of his name and his reputation as a player rather than anything he’d done during his brief and not especially successful managerial career.

Indeed, Men in Blazers , the same podcast who held a sell-out live event with Lampard, Anthony Gordon and Jordan Pickford at Washington DC’s historic Howard Theatre last week, hosted by Scouser and lifelong Blue Roger Bennett, even tweeted “Everton in danger of becoming the first team in league history to be relegated from MLS” as the club were on their way to their heaviest loss on US soil since Czech champions Dukla Prague smashed them 7-2 in the first leg of the International Soccer League final back in 1961, a gruelling eight-match competition that saw Harry Catterick’s side make four transatlantic flights. Moshiri asked to be judged at the end of the transfer window in his most recent statement to supporters, which strikes as a fair assessment. If that is the case, I'd like the club to be more honest with us and say "we're fucked by FFP, the kids are going to have to step up, and we're looking at getting a couple e.g. Billy Gilmour in on loan". But nobody has said that, and Frank is still talking about incoming players, so what is going on? It’s more aimed at the recruitment team and Moshiri that he needs them to help him out, now. He could find himself pretty friendless at Finch Farm quite quickly. But I do think this result is good because it does support what Frank and his backroom have to and are trying to do. He's the club's outward face to the world, he's got to project a degree of competence. I'm not saying Frank is the answer but it's a lot deeper than he realises. But while familiarity might bring reassurances, based on these figures at least, it might prove prudent for the pair to start casting their scouting net a bit wider. A useful attribute perhaps and given that Dendoncker stands at 6ft 2in, perhaps not too much of a surprise. How do those figures look against Everton’s existing players in the position, though? Both offensive and duels parameters are a mixed bag between the pair but the differences in their defensive figures is stark with just Dendoncker’s aforementioned ball losses better than Allan’s 4.16. However, the Blues player is ahead when it comes to ball recoveries (4.73 to 3.94); ball recoveries in the opponents half (1.12 to 0.71); interceptions (5.5 to 4.11); ball losses in his own half (0.92 to 1.12); ball losses in his own half that led to a shot in 20 seconds (0.35 to 0.46); defensive actions (20.71 to 13.94) and successful defensive actions (12.7 to 8.63). It’s a similar story against Doucoure, who is also ahead of him in all the same categories while he also makes more passes. Originally arriving at Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan back in 2018, the Belgian international has played 154 games in English football so far, scoring 12 goals. When going head-to-head with Allan, Dendoncker received more passes (28.58 to 25.83); made more key passes (0.33 to 0.23) and more successful key passes (0.12 to 0.08). However, the Brazilian outperformed him in eight other passing areas: Passes (37.49 to 33.55); successful passes (30.72 to 30.03); long passes (1.42 to 0.5); successful long passes (0.77 to 0.21); passes to the final third (11.63 to 7.88); successful passes to the final third (8.39 to 6.35); crosses (0.35 to 0.21) and successful crosses (0.15 to 0.04). With just one year left on his existing contract, perhaps Everton reckon they might be able to tempt Wolves over Dendoncker in a manner they have so far not been able with Morgan Gibbs-White. However he is understood to have an option to extend by a year so that might not be straightforward either. When compared to his Premier League peers in his position last term, the one area he came top of the class in was for headed shots with 0.18 per game, ahead of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi (0.17) and West Ham United’s Tomas Soucek (0.14) while Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure was next up on 1. In terms of pure style, the 27-year-old seems to fit the bill given that Comparisonator’s Similarity Comparison algorithm places Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka, and Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic – now reunited with Jose Mourinho once more at Roma – as the Premier League players from last season most like him in style having both been calculated as having matches of 79%. The former Anderlecht man was just 44th for passes with 34.72 per game (leader Jordan Henderson of Liverpool had 83.59); 39th for successful passes on 31 (Manchester City’s Rodri led here with 75.56); 44th for key passes, and had no successful key passes at all. Fabrizio Romano reports that Everton want to sign an extra quality midfielder and Lampard has Dendoncker, who is appreciated by both board and manager, on his list with the Blues ready to explore the move in the coming weeks. Frank Lampard revealed during his team’s tour of the USA that Everton are searching for a number six type player to provide their midfield with more balance.

Supporters had staged walk-outs and sit-ins at matches last season.

There seem to be a lot of short-term fixes for short-term gains by Moshiri. It is for raising awareness. The club pointed to a number of open letters from Moshiri, the latest last week, in which he said “judge us at the end of the transfer window – not now” and also to the channels of communication now open through the newly-launched Fan Advisory Board. “At the end of the day it doesn’t matter who the individual is, if they are not doing their job properly they are not doing their job. “It is more than mismanagement, it is more the erratic behaviour of the owner and the board that are working with him as well. “It is no secret at all there are a massive amount of Evertonians who are not happy with Bill Kenwright, (chief executive) Denise Barrett-Baxendale and others on the board,” added the spokesman.

Ben Foster makes Everton 'miracles' prediction after blunt Premier ... (Liverpool Echo)

Everton will be looking to get off to a good start in Frank Lampard's first full campaign at Goodison Park.

The interesting thing with Everton is, when Frank Lampard took over, they tried to play a certain style of football that they just weren't suited for. Then towards the end of the season, they found out that Jordan Pickford can kick the ball an absolute mile, get the ball up there, get around it, get work rate high, Richarlison if you can get him ticking you'll get a chance and that's exactly what they did, they managed to win massive games. It's a difficult start for the Blues as they begin their campaign at home to Chelsea before trips to Aston Villa and Brentford, with Nottingham Forest visiting Goodison Park in between.
