Celtic get hit on the counter attack and Sam Gallagher nearly doubles his tally for the afternoon. The Celtic bench will be praying he will be okay to continue. But now it is homeward bound as Blackburn Rovers are the opposition with Jon Dahl Tomasson eyeing a bright start to his time with the Ewood Park side. Celtic continued with their pre-season work on Saturday afternoon, drawing with Blackburn Rovers 2-2 at home.

The Portuguese winger really enjoyed himself out there today. He was taking men on, coming up with tricks, flicks, incisive passing and of course, came up with the classy finish to bring the Bhoys back into the match. Jota fired a beauty in off the post from the edge of the box to equalise before a deflected David Turnbull free-kick gave the Bhoys a lead.

At one point in the first half, the ball was wide on the right. Matt O’Riley played it infield, Liel Abada stepped over it and who was running onto it on the right-hand edge of the box? They have the capacity to, like a boa constrictor, wrap themselves around the opposition, not giving them a breath, squeezing, squeezing, squeezing. Enthusiasm for friendly matches can understandably be low, the tempo slower than the proper thing and lacking a semblance of edge. Against Blackburn it was within the first 20 seconds when Callum McGregor of all people took a loose touch and the visitors pounced through former Scotland youth international Sam Gallagher. And so should the neutral.

Celtic v Blackburn Rovers - Ange's post-match thoughts plus ... (thecelticstar.com)

Here's what Ange Postecoglou had to say to Celtic TV after the 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Celtic Park yesterday afternoon.

“The football in the 1st half was really good, don’t know why we were so bad in the 2nd it was a hard watch. We need a few more 6ft + bruisers we ain’t physical enough especially in the middle of midfield. That’s a lot of time for us to prepare a group of players and we’ve put two solid weeks in already. I asked Jota if we can expect more tricks and he basically said ‘no you can expect a lot of running and a lot of hard work. Both teams were at it and we obviously conceded early but, after that, I thought we got a good grip of the game and their football was really bright and the movement was good and was solid defensively. We’re still two weeks out from the season but I’ve done a fair bit of work in Austria and continue to do that here. “First half we looked awesome, mostly, after that terrible start; could’ve been a few goals up at half-time. “The only thing that worries me about this team is that they are very small and too nice. Q: As far as preparation and readiness go, where we are you on that timeline? The second half got to be a bit scrappy. The first half was real good, both from a competitive point of view and also our performance. Here’s what Ange Postecoglou had to say to Celtic TV after the 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Celtic Park yesterday afternoon.
