The Boys season 4 - can't wait for the Amazon Prime superhero show to return? Everything we know about season 4 from potential release date, cast, ...

Season four of The Boys will have to explore the restoration of the company one way or another. The Deep and A-Train were hardly the strongest members of the gang, and yet it is they who remain. An early filming schedule offers hope it will be back at the earlier end of that timeframe in summer, as opposed to early autumn. In an interview with Collider, the man behind Butcher said: "I think August 22, we're going to be starting season four. The Boys' season 3 finale left too many questions unanswered, and we're just chomping at the bit to have them resolved. This probably wasn't the only contributing factor to the The Boys' increased viewership, but no doubt it helped.

The Boys season 4: Everything we know about the Amazon Prime ... (GamesRadar+)

We've broken down the potential release date, which cast members are likely to return, and where the plot could be heading. But just a warning before we get ...

There’s a lot up in the air ahead of The Boys season 4, but we’ll keep updating this guide as soon as any news lands. The Boys cast has grown quite a bit in the past few seasons and it seems like almost everyone will be coming back. That means Antony Starr will be back alongside Chase Crawford’s The Deep, Jessie T Usher’s A-Train, and Colby Minifie as Vought suck-up Ashley. Homelander also brought his son Ryan into the limelight at the end of season 3 so Cameron Crovetti will likely return. The Boys are now back together and more focused than ever on their plan to take down the Supes. However, it seems like their major enemy has shifted to Victoria Neuman. After making a deal with Homelander, she landed the Vice President ticket in the season finale thanks to The Deep drowning her opposition. The Boys season 4 is on its way! But they’ll have a bit of help this time around thanks to Starlight. After trying to change things from the inside, she’s now firmly on team Butcher as a fully-fledged member of the team. The early renewal for the superhero show came just a few episodes into The Boys season 3. One thing that seems likely is that ahead of season 4, we’ll get to see The Boys spin-off show Varsity first. Given this news, it seems likely we could see new episodes of The Boys in late 2023. But just a warning before we get stuck in, this article contains MAJOR spoilers for The Boys season 3 finale. The show was only recommissioned in June 2022, with the season 3 finale airing on July 8, 2022. If season 4 follows the same pattern, then it could be released anywhere between July 2023 and March 2024.

Will Jensen Ackles return as Soldier Boy for The Boys season 4? (Radio Times)

The Boys' season 3 finale seems to take Soldier Boy out of the picture...for now.

He’s not dead, just locked up – and while this does give the show’s writing team the option to keep him out of the action, they could also bring him back at any point. So will Jensen Ackles and Soldier Boy return for the next season? Soldier Boy might remain locked away off-screen for the rest of the series, or he could be broken out in the very next episode.

The Boys Sets Up A Surprising Villain for Season 4 (Comicbook.com)

(WARNING: The Boys Season 3 Finale SPOILERS Follow!) In the finale episode "The Instant White-Hot Wild" Homelander locates Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) at the stash ...

The Boys comics have set up a framework where Ryan may ultimately find redemption in and stop Homelander, in place of another character who is now dead in the TV version of the series. The storyline of The Boys Season 3 has been all about family and legacy, as Homelander (Antony Starr) struggled to find his place in the world, and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) struggled to find anything besides his unquenchable thirst for vengeance. In the aftermath of the fight, Ryan chooses to go with Homelander for good.

Spoiler warning: Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell is stepping into a slightly different role in 'The Boys' season 4 after his character death.

"We wanted to see Noir sort of Dark Knight of the Soul. It's hard to do that because he doesn't communicate. That's why he developed The Boys Presents: Diabolical, the anthology series of animated shorts that tell separate stories set in The Boys universe. "Like everything on the show, it's sort of this organic road to hell, I guess," Kripke explains. Kripke and the writers decided that Black Noir would die in season 3. They come to life and they have a lot of interaction with him." While the silent character has notably kept his mask on at all times, we saw a rare moment in the flashbacks of Noir without the mask — and he was talking freely.

'The Boys' Boss on Finale Deaths, Butcher's 'Ticking Clock ... (Variety)

"The Boys" showrunner Eric Kripke explains the major deaths from the Season 3 finale and Season 4 plans.

I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but the one that pops into my head of a “Supernatural” reference I think people enjoy is, we tend to do a lot of the through-the-trunk shots. I mean, they’re technically in the same scene, in that Singer is up on a stage and and Homelander has that vision of Soldier Boy. But there’s no interaction. So he has to really stack the deck with allies now that he has the ability to make those decisions. I specifically went back into Episode 5 and I wrote that moment of Soldier Boy reacting to the Singer poster for this reason. We wanted to do the opposite of that and send her off and give her a happy ending with Elena. The best way to do that was, well, take away her powers and she’s not useful in the fight anymore. And what was your favorite “Supernatural” Easter eggs of the ones that you did include? And then Ryan. Ryan is a really important piece of the story because he’s half Becca, half Homelander. If Butcher can figure out how to get his shit together and get the kid back, that could be the single best weapon they have against Homelander. But vice versa. And we did that because Annie can’t really grow into her own until all the characters that are around to protect her are gone. Obviously, we didn’t want to kill her and fall into the tropes of gay characters and bisexual characters in shows getting killed. It’s just a notion taken to the extreme that the more horrible public leaders act, the more fans they seem to rack up. “The Boys” ended its third season Friday with a finale that included multiple character deaths, changes in alliances and cliffhangers so huge that even Starlight would have a hard time flying down from them safely. Ryan sees the excited reaction from the QAnon-like crowd to Homelander killing the man who hurt him, and Ryan’s pretty excited himself by the crowd’s reaction.

Eric Kripke talks about a couple of main stories that will drive the next season of the Prime Video series.

However, you can take a better look at some behind-the-scenes moments from the past season in GameSpot's coverage of The Boys below. It's sort of a sneak peek of one of the one of the big themes for Season 4." It continues to grow and evolve the world it lives in without losing that identity either. And while what's happening in front of the cameras between people of various political parties is a big focus, the next season will also focus on the Presidential election. At the end of Season 3, The Deep killed Lamar Bishop, who was in line to be Dakota Bob's running mate for the Presidential election. With Season 3 of The Boys ending, many people may want to know where the show will go next.

Is The Boys Setting up an Even More Disturbing Homelander Twist ... (Den of Geek)

In season three, we learned that Homelander was not simply the creation of Vought scientist Jonah Vogelbaum. Rather, he was fathered by Soldier Boy, the ultra- ...

She had a deep interest in the creation of Supes and the establishment of a master race. Like most things in the comic, the Homelander/Soldier Boy sex scene is played for a bad taste joke. And just in case you were worried that the show would not want to make one of Homelander’s romantic partners from the comics into a parental figure, the Herogasm comic book miniseries does include a scene in which he forces Soldier Boy to have sex with him. Finally, The Boys comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson give even more credence to a connection between the two. But the revelation of his mother may be even more disturbing in Season 4. Throughout season two, Klara Risinger – aka Liberty aka Stormfront – praised the superhuman genes she possessed and dreamed of continuing that line.

The Actor Behind One Of The Seven Will Play A 'Whole New ... (/FILM)

If you haven't seen the season 3 finale of "The Boys," read no further, because we're about to delve into some major spoilers for the fate of one character.

Instead, "The Boys" season 3 brought in another actor, Fritzy-Klevans Destine, to play the talking, unmasked version of Black Noir in flashbacks, where we saw the character as a member of an earlier super-team, Payback, led by Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). Hopefully, when we meet the eventual Black Noir II, he'll be able to talk so that Mitchell's character isn't left mute like Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and actually gets the chance to say some lines next season. For one thing, it seems increasingly likely that the narrative of "The Boys" will continue to depart from the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book series on which it is based since Black Noir's fate in that series was very different and he played an integral role in the final destiny of team leader Homelander as well.

'The Boys' Showrunner Eric Kripke On Parricidal Season 3 Finale ... (Deadline)

“You're a f*cking disappointment,” a vengeful Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) tells offspring Homelander (Anthony Starr) in the final battle of The Boys' Season 3 ...

You know, I wrote them a letter and I was explaining the intent and the satire. Then, we all just started reaching out to anyone and everyone we knew, and you know, Seth and Evan have a much better rolodex on that than I do. I haven’t spoken to anyone there but the fact that they gave us permission to the song probably tells you a little something about how they felt about that viral video. It was ultimately, a hit on the bubble of celebrity. I like the Wonder Woman movies and I understand and respect that she approached that with good intentions. We’ve been moving our chess pieces in place to play a version of that story because that does feel like the highest possible stakes, especially with Homelander becoming more and more untethered from reality. KRIPKE: I mean, it’s a very different corner of the world and it’s a different concern and thematic but it has been interesting. It was sort of the old classic Hollywood move of how do you make sure that no one thinks the butler did it. KRIPKE: One of the end game storylines in the books that we always really responded to was this notion that the vice president was literally gunning for the president and that the president was in mortal danger. DEADLINE: With that, you must be going insane from the sheer volume of The Boys as it becomes a franchise. People come in and they come in angry and scared, and my response is invariably the same, which is well let’s figure out a way to write about it. So, you know, I don’t think serious issues and taking the piss out of them are mutually exclusive.

To be honest, The Boys season 4 seems like it will be a lot like The Boys season 3. So, in short: expect The Boys season 4 release around mid-to-late 2023. We didn't have to wait long for The Boys season 4's announcement. That would make sense considering season 3 ended more or less where season 2 did — with everyone in the same area, locked in the war between The Boys and Homelander. It might be safe to go back to Vought Tower, but The Boys season 4 looks to bring even more chaos. The Supe-powered fight is going to continue.

Is There a The Boys Season 4 Release Date and Episodes List? (Game Revolution)

Fans are hoping to hear a The Boys Season 4 release date some time soon, preferably with a full episode list to go with it.

The Boys Season 4 is coming, but an official release date hasn’t been set yet. Fans are already clamoring for a The Boys Season 4 release date and hopefully an episode list to go along with it. The first three seasons consisted of eight episodes each, so we can assume the fourth will also.

The Boys Season 4: What Will Happen Next? (Den of Geek)

The Boys season 3 saw an increasingly unstable Homelander remove the corporate shackles of Vought and the encumbrance of disloyal members of his superhero team.

Luckily, since Karl Urban revealed in a recent interview that production for The Boys season 4 begins on August 22, 2022, we won’t have long to wait. Sure, she made a deal of convenience with the superhero and made it clear to Starlight that she knows her secret is out, but something tells us her rise to power may be equally as important as that of the sociopathic head of The Seven. Seems like a bit of foreshadowing for The Boys season 4!

“The series is not going to end without Soldier Boy popping up again. As for this season’s main foe, Soldier Boy, he’s been thwarted, but he’s not out of the picture for good. Soldier Boy proved himself to be an even more terrible person than Homelander during the episode, purposefully striking and wounding Ryan during a climactic battle.

The Boys Showrunner on Season 3's Finale and What's In Store for ... (IGN)

The Boys Showrunner Eric Kripke sat down with IGN to discuss the explosive Season 3 finale and what Season 4 has in store for Homelander, Butcher, Ryan, ...

“Without spoiling anything, I'll say that Homelander was like a big kid smashing a toy once they let him be in control, or once he got to be in control of Vought, but he's a really smart character, and I think he's really smart about learning from his mistakes and figuring out how to redirection Vought into a way that will be advantageous to him. The problem is now she's sort of in league with Homelander, who is the opposite of trying to play all sides. “I think she tells herself she wants to make the world a better place for her daughter, I think she tells herself that she probably has a reasonably liberal agenda, but she's just ruthlessly climbing as high as she can, because I don't even know if she could totally define why to herself. Will the best parts of him come out now that he is a parent to save Ryan from going down a dark road? He's going to have to decide which of those goals are the most important to him and go after them, whether or not it's what the CIA wants him to do or the other Boys want him to do. The Boys’ third season has come to an explosive end and the finale capped off a season we called one of the best we’ve seen in years.

Eric Kripke Teases The Boys' "Exciting" Season 4 Plans (Gizmodo)

Let's talk about some of the big moments in that pretty big finale, yeah?

Kramer combined with Avengers: Endgame. “If Homelander wins the kid over,” teased Kripke, “that’s apocalyptic because then there’s two Homelanders.” But if Ryan can be turned, then he could finally bring an end to Homelander and the Seven, and Butcher can die happy. “He has to really stack the deck with allies now that he has the ability to make those decisions.” Still, the Seven won’t be deprived of Noir: Mitchell will be returning next season as a different version of the character, who Kripke told Entertainment Weekly would be an “interesting and hilarious character.” Hopefully, Black Noir II is as much of a Disney princess as his predecessor. Much of season three has been about the idea of fathers and sons, and a lot of it revolved around Homelander. At the very end of the season, he introduced his son superpowered son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) to the public. Having forsaken Butcher for Homelander, Ryan is visibly excited to watch his father laser a protestor to death after the kid gets hit. Starlight (Erin Moriarty) left to join The Boys and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) lost her powers and faked her death so she could leave the superhero game and live with her girlfriend, Elena (Nicola Correia-Damude). Suffice to say, whoever joins the hero team next will have to be “sympathetic to Homelander’s batshit crazy cause,” in Kripke’s words. Amazon’s The Boys wrapped its third season a few days ago, and now the raunchy superhero satire is taking a break until season four hits sometime presumably next year.

Why Maeve Likely Won't (& Shouldn't) Return In The Boys Season 4 (Screen Rant)

The Boys season 3's finale has major ramifications for Queen Maeve. Will she return in season 4? Here's why she probably shouldn't and probably won't.

More important than how Queen Maeve returns in The Boys season 4 is whether Queen Maeve should return in The Boys season 4. If The Boys seasons 1-3 were the "Seven saga," season 4 is entering a whole new phase. When the situation gets that dark, it'll be difficult for Queen Maeve not to return in The Boys, especially if Butcher's hypothetical slaughter includes those who used to be supes. Although Dominique McElligott's absence will be keenly felt in The Boys season 4, her departure signals a shift in focus. Maeve began in The Boys season 1 defeated and hopeless, completely convinced that true heroes are a myth after years of Vought covering up tragedies. With Starlight (quite literally) flying Maeve's nest, the latter's The Boys arc draws to a natural close. And even if Homelander did discover Maeve's farm during The Boys season 4, would he even care? The Boys' season 3 finale ends with Queen Maeve officially out of the game... Queen Maeve popping up again next season as if nothing happened would totally undermine The Boys season 3's tearjerker ending. Publicly, Vought claims Maeve died battling a radicalized Soldier Boy, so as far as the world is concerned, the Queen is dead. On one hand, she's still alive, which goes a long way in The Boys. Nothing is physically preventing her from making a comeback. MM, Kimiko and Starlight have Soldier Boy beaten, but the literally and figuratively toxic supe threatens to explode, taking Vought Tower with him.
