Caroline Stewart was another Gorey winner, taking home a silver medal in the ‘This Radiant Season’ category, while Paula Hore also received a silver medal in the ‘Another World’ category. Meanwhile, Irish Fuchsia Nursery from Gorey received a silver medal at the Nursery Village and seven medals were awarded to Wexford floral artists. Hazel Woods of Kilmurry Nursery in Gorey also received a gold medal for her display at the show.

In a tribute, posted by WLOS, they said: “Betty was an absolute stalwart of Wexford Light Opera Society having made her debut in ‘The Gypsy Barron’ in 1967 and she performed in 51 shows from this date up to 2019, missing only 2 productions during this time.

The following are the dates and locations of the Fun in the Sun days across the county: July 26: Enniscorthy Hub, July 27: Riverchapel Community Complex, July 28: Pearse Park, New Ross, July 29: Duncannon Beach, August 4: Bunclody GAA grounds, August 5: St Mary’s GAA Club, Maudlintown, August 6: Rosslare Recreation Centre. “We have been unable to hold our Fun in the Sun days for the last couple of years due to Covid, so we are delighted to be able to provide this again this year,” said Assistant Staff Officer with Sports Active Wexford, Bridget Kenny. Sports Active Wexford are holding a number of free ‘Fun in the Sun’ days for kids in different locations in Wexford in July and August.

Yet Wexford can still make both scenarios suit them if they execute. This is not likely to be a game that Wexford enjoy. Wexford have the quality, the talent and the drive to win this but they need to believe it themselves. If Wexford can break even they should advance, but they need to be ready to be pressed or to encounter a passive Roscommon approach. Wexford need to be smart but they also need to be patient. Defensively they dealt very well with Roscommon in the league final (0-9 to 1-5), and if they replicate that they will better the wretched tally they scored that day and advance with ease.
