However, Eken argues there is enough money in the game to make certain things possible. At the time, Eken was studying at Real Madrid ’s graduate school, and incorporated some of these ideas into his thesis. It was at this stage that he put forward the idea of facilities inside stadiums which would allow staff to treat players immediately rather than relying on transporting them to the nearest hospital. In Ekeng’s case, the doctor who took him to the hospital was later handed a suspended jail sentence after it was found that she made no attempt to resuscitate him during the journey. He has had contact with FIFA, as well as a chance meeting with the organisation’s chief Gianni Infantino, while incidents such as Christian Eriksen’s collapse at Euro 2020 have brought the issue into sharper focus once more. Cameroon international midfielder Ekeng had recently joined Dinamo Bucharest after his first taste of La Liga football with Cordoba had ended in relegation, having spoken with Eken about a potential move to Turkey.

Christian Eriksen transfer is the kind of business we've come to ... (The Athletic)

Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United. It is a move that makes plenty of sense for both parties.

Barcelona should have pushed to sign Eriksen rather than Philippe Coutinho in 2018 and in 2022 Manchester United are thought to be one of a number of suitors for his signature. The negative spiral that marked much of United’s 2021-22 season can be halted this summer through smart player trading (outgoings as well as incomings). United are in desperate need of reinforcements and upgrades to their defensive midfield capabilities. Eriksen’s arrival would raise further questions as to the future of Donny van de Beek: an altogether different kind of No 10 who favours off-the-ball running over line-breaking passing, but after a 2021-22 season where United struggled to score goals, one can see the attraction of a short-term deal. The presence of two playmakers in a side at the same time could in theory allow United to sustain attacking pressure for longer. The unusual nature of the upcoming 2022-23 season likely feeds any interest United may have in Eriksen as well. Ten Hag has already had the opportunity to view Eriksen’s current playing style closely as the Dane spent some time early in January 2022 training with Ajax’s youth team.

Christian Eriksen Agrees to Manchester United Deal, per Report (Sports Illustrated)

The Danish midfielder is reportedly set to sign a three-year contract to head to Old Trafford.

The attacking midfielder is set to become one of the first signings under new manager Erik ten Hag, while the club is also reportedly close to a deal for Feyenoord left back Tyrell Malacia. One year ago, a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs would have been hardly believable after Eriksen’s collapse on the field due to a cardiac arrest at the Euros. The Danish star needed to be resuscitated on the field before he was transported to a hospital. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the 30-year-old midfielder has agreed to a three-year contract with Manchester United. Once Eriksen officially signs the deal and completes an all-important medical, the Danish international will become one of the first signings of the summer for the club.

Christian Eriksen's incredible road back to football as Man Utd ... (Irish Mirror)

Christian Eriksen is on the verge of joining Manchester United on a three-year contract after a remarkable stint with Brentford upon his recovery from a ...

I was convinced he could help us and that he could be the best signing ever for Brentford. It was not an injury, it was a heart condition. Frank certainly didn't seem to be concerned about the potential risk of signing him back in January, telling reporters later in the term when the Bees assured their safety: "For me, it was not a gamble. The Red Devils defender-turned-Sky pundit added: "Why would you not look to him to come in for two seasons and do a job for you doing that? To be fair, Brentford played out here [at Old Trafford], it was one of the games United won, but some of Eriksen's passing in that game was out of this world at Old Trafford." Not only the big-name teammates and new manager Erik ten Hag, but those behind the scenes who're bidding to replicate Brentford's success and whose importance shouldn't be forgotten if another miraculous transfer is finalised. When I woke up from the CPR it was like waking from a dream. "I look up and see the fans singing. But it's not just what he does on the pitch that makes Eriksen such a special player and person, it's his incredible mental and physical resilience which emerged on his darkest day and shone through right up until his road to recovery was complete. "If Sabrina had said, 'I don't want you to play any more', this would be a very different situation," Eriksen explained ahead of his remarkable comeback. On Saturday, June 12 last year, the footballing world was brought to a standstill. As winter came around after months of being a free agent, he began regaining his fitness with two of his former clubs, Danish side Odense Boldklub and Dutch giants Ajax, who he joined in 2008. As paramedics heroically rushed onto the pitch, the midfielder was quickly and thankfully saved.
