Jack Sparrow Isn't Coming Back for Pirates (Vulture)

Johnny Depp's reps clarified that the actor would not be returning to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise as Jack Sparrow despite reports otherwise.

That last one was true for a few strange hours after an Australian news outlet reported a rumor that Depp was working on a return to Pirates of the Caribbean for close to $300 million. “If Disney came to you with $300 million dollars and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film?” asked Heard’s defense attorney, Ben Rottenborn, during the trial. Or would he somehow jump back into the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as one petition gathering more than 800,000 signatures seemed to suggest.

No, Johnny Depp Is Not Returning To 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' (Forbes)

A recent rumor that Johnny Depp is returning to play Captain Jack Sparrow for $301 million is ridiculous.

Depp now has a legion of simpering fans, who are determined that he receives “justice,” which seemingly, means Depp returning to the role that made him an icon. Even Depp thought he was being overpaid for his work in the franchise; in a 2011 interview with Vanity Fair, he said: The rumor states that Depp is set to return to his most iconic role, as Captain Jack Sparrow, for no less than $301 million dollars.

A representative for Depp has put to rest rumors of the actor accepting $301 million for a chance to reprise his swashbuckling duties.

But what I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow – so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character.”

What Johnny Depp's Rep Has Said About Actor Returning to 'Pirates ... (Newsweek)

Fans of Johnny Depp have been hoping for several years he would be reprising the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in future "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.

"I wish to acknowledge the noble work of the Judge, the jurors, the court staff, and the Sheriffs who have sacrificed their own time to get to this point, and to my diligent and unwavering legal team who did an extraordinary job in helping me to share the truth. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. I also hope that the position will now return to innocent until proven guilty, both within the courts and in the media. From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Heard, in her post-verdict statement said: "The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable, worldwide spectacle into my life, was only made after considerable thought. The essay did not name Depp but his legal team argued the essay was false and destroyed his career. All in the blink of an eye. Depp was awarded $15 million in damages.
