Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the bodies of an elderly couple in a house in Co Tipperary.
“It is a very early stage in the investigation and we are keeping an open mind. There was no sign of a disturbance in the house and there was no sign of any forced entry. The indications were that the couple had been dead for a considerable period of time.
Gardaí had called to the house in Cloneen, near Clonmel after neighbours reported that the couple had not been seen in some time.
The local person said they were concerned for the pair, who some locals had understood to be away on holidays. It is understood that one body was found in a bedroom and the other in the living room. “We will be very much guided by the results of the postmortem but it’s simply far too early to speculate on how they died.”
