The golf ball can sit and rest in that position but downward pressure was clearly applied. Sky Sports Golf commentators and golf fans on social media have been reacting after seeing Brian Harman appear to touch his golf ball with his wedge and possibly improve his lie while in the greenside rough on the 13th hole on day two of the US Open.

People tend to get ahead of themselves when it comes to the rules. But looking at the incident, can you be sure that’s what happened? I aim to steer clear of emotion when it comes to assessing whether there is a breach. I’ve re-run the incident now a dozen times.
