Kodaline are in a reflective mood as they prepare for the 10th anniversary of their first EP, with one member admitting the band 'just got lucky'.
We got to go live some life and then there might be a record in a year or so.' We were looking forward to playing the Olympia so much, the Malahide show was originally a week of Olympia gigs. Once Kodaline are finished with Ireland, they're embarking on a tour of Europe in the autumn. Luckily we haven't lost any of ours, but you're going to festivals across Europe and not seeing the people who were the heart of them before the pandemic. You'll hear it on the live record when it comes out, that's where the fun is. Little did Jay and the gang know that their 2020 album 'One Day at a Time' wouldn't be played live for two years. He got there before anyone heard any of our songs, he heard us playing in a little pub and took a chance on us. With over a billion streams, four albums and world tours, it's safe to say the band enjoyed an eventful ten years. That's the way the music industry is these days. We ended up sitting on our hands for a little while,' he laughed. 'Unfortunately we lost our booking agent who was one of our earliest supporters, Mr Steve Strange. He looked after Coldplay, Eminem and some of the biggest bands in the world. 'Everyone had, without being cheesy, high hopes for the project but I don't think we ever thought it would go as well as it did.
