Boston, on the other hand, looked daunted and suffered a second consecutive defeat for the first time in this postseason. He had 14 points on the night and renaissance man Gary Payton II, who fractured his elbow just a month before the NBA Finals started, was also a big contributor in Game 5 with 15 points and 5 rebounds. As for Wiggins, who has been the Dubs' second-best player in the series by a distance, he had multiple highlight plays. Tatum looked like he was on the cusp of his best performance of the finals for a spell in the third quarter but he undid that work with some poor decisions and on two separate occasions, the 24-year-old missed both free throws after being fouled. Curry, for his part, failed to make a three-pointer in an NBA game for the first time since November 8, 2018. Andrew Wiggins was the star man on this occasion, impressing with his scoring, defense and rebounding in a magnificent all-round display.
Andrew Wiggins inspired the Golden State Warriors to a 104-94 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the NBA Finals and a 3-2 lead in the ...
He shot 12-for-23 on Monday and found time for a game-high 13 rebounds, completing his second consecutive double-double despite missing all six of his 3-point attempts. Missed 3-pointers were the story of the night, as the Warriors took advantage of Boston misfiring on its first 12 attempts to build as much as a 16-point lead in the first half. Both teams survived long droughts from beyond the 3-point arc only to be separated by just one point through three periods.
But this much is already clear: Even without a single game decided by single digits through the first five contests, these 2022 NBA Finals are on the brink ...
Boston started the game by missing its first 12 3-point tries, then made its next eight from beyond the arc, a dichotomy the likes of which has never before been seen in NBA Finals history. The 48-18 run by the Celtics to turn a 15-point third-quarter deficit into a 15-point fourth-quarter lead in Game 1. Curry scoring 43 points, even yelling at the crowd along the way, to lead Golden State to a road win in Game 4. The 35-14 third quarter that the Warriors turned into an easy win in Game 2. Such has really been the story for Boston most of the way in these playoffs. “We have a chance. It looked easy early for his team in Game 5, with the Warriors up 16 before long and taking a 12-point lead into halftime. Such has been the story of these NBA Finals — the guys with more fight walk off winners. The way the Celtics wasted a big lead, then outscored the Warriors 34-17 to close Game 3. That’s the thing we’re not having throughout a full game, consistent efforts, sustained effort, more so offensively than anything.” It’s Golden State 3, Boston 2 going into Game 6 on the Celtics’ home floor on Thursday night. But that’s more a byproduct of two teams with a propensity for cranking up defense when they must, more than lackluster offense.
Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson scored 26 and 21 points respectively to help Golden State Warriors beat Boston Celtics 104-94 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals ...
Golden State Warriors guard Jordan Poole shoots a 3-point basket against the Boston Celtics during the second half of Game 5 of basketball's NBA Finals in San Francisco. Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, left, shoots against Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins during the second half of Game 5 of basketball's NBA Finals in San Francisco. Warriors, who lead 3-2, can win their fourth title in eight years when the series resumes in Boston on Thursday night.
Golden State Warriors star Andrew Wiggins' replicated his father's performance from 36 years ago in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
But there is no denying the fact that Wiggins was the Game 5 star in San Francisco. Stephen Curry failed to make a single three-pointer in the game and Golden State’s explosive offense produced just 104 points. The Golden State Warriors took care of business at home in Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals. However, it wasn’t a typical Warriors performance.
Who's going to win Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals? To see what we think, make sure to read our preview of the Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics series.
They sure have the manpower to do so, not to mention that their fans will cheer them on from the very start. They just need to win one more game and the 2022 NBA Championship is theirs. The Golden State Warriors have a chance to win their seventh NBA title in the history of the franchise.
In the first four games of the NBA Finals, Golden State progressively tilted its attack toward Curry running high pick-and-rolls. It started Game 5, however, ...
It's a great read by Curry with Smart top-locking him, and it's another perfect pass from Green. But it's also an example of the Warriors getting used to their opponent -- they know that Williams is ignoring Payton, which makes him a dangerous screener. (In fact, he missed all six of his 3-point attempts.) When Curry was cold and the team needed him to bail out a possession, he obliged. In this case, that means Green pushing the pace when the Warriors don't have the numbers and sending a bounce pass exactly where it needed to go to turn a 2-on-3 break into two points -- at exactly the right time. With nine minutes to go and the Warriors on a 13-0 run, Marcus Smart ran a dribble-handoff with Brown way outside the 3-point line. Curry looks at Wiggins after the pass, first pointing at Thompson and then calling for the ball himself. Because the Warriors had nine steals to Boston's two, and five of those Golden State steals led directly to buckets on the other end. After hearing Boston lament its "stagnant" late-game offense in the previous game, this was a tough look. This is my favorite of Curry's eight assists, and it demonstrates why the Celtics have been reluctant to put two on the ball against him. He gives the ball up to Green, who fires a lefty pass to Klay Thompson on the opposite side. Tatum got into the paint with good spacing around him, collapsed the defense, made Andre Iguodala think he was passing to Jaylen Brown in the corner and hit Horford for an open 3. Scoring against the Celtics is exhausting, and they believe that, if they are locked in and limit their mistakes, the opponent will eventually wear down. The Celtics have done a fantastic job defending Golden State's off-ball actions, but that doesn't mean coach Steve Kerr is going to default to static pick-and-rolls.
The big star for the Warriors in game 5 was Andrew Wiggins, whose post-season has been a palate cleanser from his history. Wiggins, who has demolished Jayson ...

When we watch the Warriors vs Celtics live stream for game 6 of the NBA Finals, we'll see a Boston team whose patterns are broken that needs to win and win. Oh, and then he sealed the game with a dunk over Derrick Wright. He missed four of five shots in the final frame, and posted a record nobody wants to have: most turnovers in a single post-season.
The Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics face off on Thursday at TD Garden in Boston in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Golden State is the all-around better team and I expected a bounce-back performance from Curry to help them secure an NBA Finals victory. Devon Platana writes: "After winning back-to-back contests, I expect the Warriors to close out the Celtics in Game 6. The prediction and odds for this game also favors a win for the Celtics." It writes: "For the Celtics, the Game 6 becomes a do-of-die game. It predicts that the total will go over. They sure have the manpower to do so, not to mention that their fans will cheer them on from the very start."
The Boston Celtics' backs are against the wall in the NBA Finals, now down 3-2 entering Thursday's Game 6 matchup in Boston.
I’m going to side with my original lean and bet Boston to get this to Game 7. However, if their role players can provide a little relief for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown at home, Boston has enough to get this back to Golden State. Golden State withstood a major third quarter run by Boston to secure their second home win of the series.
The Golden State Warriors parlayed the momentum from their Game 4 victory into a ...

Get ready for Warriors vs. Celtics with our NBA Finals betting preview, with best bets, props, and what to expect for Thursday's game.
The Celtics have the edge on the Warriors in terms of size and may be able to break Golden State’s small-ball strategy. They fought through an ugly but riveting series against the Miami Heat and took their Eastern Conference championship in Game 7 on Sunday. Add in their travel to Golden State, and you may have a tired team come Thursday. And while they’ve had a couple of lackluster seasons, the Splash Brothers are making waves again this year. First, who is the favorite to win the series? Will the Celtics add yet another trophy to their massive franchise trophy case? Can Steph Curry start a 3-pointer streak and help the Warriors win the championship?
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr delivered a bold message to his team Monday night as they prepare for a potential title-clinching Game 6 against the Celtics ...
You feel that energy immediately stepping in, so I think it's important we bring our hard hats to the plane ready to go." Kerr and the Warriors have every right to adopt this mindset. They face a tall task in Thursday's Game 6, as the Celtics will have home court at TD Garden and are 3-0 in elimination games this postseason.

However, in three losses, Brown has been held to 18.6 points (34.8 percent from the field), seven rebounds, and three assists per game. The 25-year-old has played extremely well in the Celtics’ two wins in this series, averaging 25.5 points (49.9 percent from the field), eight rebounds, and five assists per game. Meanwhile, the Warriors are producing 16.3 points per game off of turnovers in the playoffs and 16.1 ppg on the road. It would take an offensive outburst that we saw in Game 1 or Game 3 to surpass the 210.5 total, and it’s hard to see that with two of the best defensive teams in the playoffs. It’s unlikely that he’ll go 0-for again considering that prior to Monday night, he hadn’t had a game without at least one made three-pointer since Nov. 8, 2018, and the last time he had consecutive games without a made three-pointer was in November of 2012. With the way he's boxing out and competing inside the paint, you should hammer the OVER. Wiggins has been the Warriors’ second-best player in this series, and that should continue on the road in Boston. The Warriors showcased their championship DNA in the past two games, which has them on the brink of winning their fourth title in as many years. Thompson produced another efficient outing in Game 5, posting 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 5-of-11 from three-point range. White and Williams were outscored and outplayed by Jordan Poole and Gary Payton II (20 points, 10-of-16 FG, 4-of-9 from three). This cannot happen again in Game 6, or the Celtics’ will be in trouble. In Game 5, Derrick White and Grant Williams were non-existent, scoring a combined four points (1-of-6 FG, 0-of-4 from three) in 37 minutes. Heading into Game 6, the Warriors are 5-1 with a 3-2 series lead under head coach Steve Kerr. However, Golden State has not fared well on the road in the postseason, going 4-5. Golden State is one win away from hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy after defeating Boston 104-94 in Game 5 on Monday night.
Warriors vs Celtics Live: Golden State Warriors are one win away from the cusp of another NBA championship as they prepare for Game 6 of the NBA Finals ...
Golden State Warriors are just a win away from their fourth championship in eight seasons and seventh championship overall. The Warriors played an aggressive game and had a blistering start. They, however, managed to put brakes on the Warriors’ third-quarter dominance by scoring 35 against the Warriors’ 24. We were struggling to finish in the paint. While Stephen Curry had carried the team to this point, the Warriors provided him with plenty of support in Game 5 led by Andrew Wiggins with 26 points. The Golden State Warriors sent a message with their Game 5 victory over the Boston Celtics and are now just one win away from winning the 2022 NBA Tit...
Betting on Boston to win after at the end of the fourth makes more sense than wagering on the moneyline. We’re banking on the Celtics to win this game with their defence. Result at end of Quarter 4 - Boston Celtics win (-143): Only one game in the 2022 NBA playoffs has gone to overtime. They stormed back from being down 2-3 to win the series and that was arguably a tougher task as Game 6 was on the road. The under on this total has hit in two consecutive games after the over came through in two of the first three contests. The Warriors own a nearly-immaculate 11-1 record at home in the postseason.
With a roaring crowd behind him, Wiggins zoomed past Derrick White through an empty lane into an unguarded basket for the capper to his career night. Wait a ...
Watch as a defender that otherwise might have shifted over to contest Wiggins refuses to take his eyes off of Curry because the thought of doing so for even a moment was more threatening to him than a wide-open dunk. Just take in the moment that repeats itself dozens of times throughout every single Warriors game, the one where the opposing defense is so petrified by the idea of Curry taking even a contested shot that they're willing to sacrifice an open one. When a team decides to acquire a player, especially one as expensive as Wiggins, they're doing so with the belief that the player in question is suited to playing off of their star or stars. But in this scenario, Curry is still the star that Wiggins is orbiting. There isn't a Warrior that can do for him what he does for them, so he's been forced to create the bulk of his own shots through pick-and-roll. Some version of this dilemma plays out on almost every Golden State basket that isn't scored by Curry. If you want to understand where the overwhelming majority of Warriors points come from, you only need to watch a possession and ask yourself "where is Steph?" That will typically take you in the right direction. Of course, Looney is so big that he can initially angle the screen directly behind Smart, but at the last second slide up a step to throw off White, who he knows will be meeting Wiggins after the inevitable switch. Jayson Tatum should have been the low-man here, sliding into the lane and off of Gary Payton II in order to contest Wiggins at the basket, but he's a wing used to playing in gigantic lineups. He's so stuck on Curry that by the time he evens looks back toward the basket, Wiggins is already in the air. White starts the possession on Stephen Curry, but when Curry scampers down to the corner, the Celtics don't even wait for a Kevon Looney screen to preemptively switch. With a roaring crowd behind him, Wiggins zoomed past Derrick White through an empty lane into an unguarded basket for the capper to his career night. White, 6-4 and skinny, was at the other end of that preemptive Boston switch, and he follows Looney back up the floor.

Tatum has turned the ball over at least four times in nine of his last 14 contests, averaging 4.4 turnovers per game over that span. Curry went a woeful 0-9 from beyond the arc in that game, which snapped a streak of 38 straight playoff games with multiple 3-pointers made (not to mention 238 consecutive contests with at least one three).
