He is getting positions and pressing really strongly from the front. The system used by Ireland in the last two games certainly seems to suit Troy Parrott, linking up with his fellow striker both in possession and when pressing the opposition. Parrott started three of the four games in this window, producing a goal and an assist in the victory over Scotland at the weekend.

The 20-year-old spent the last campaign out on loan at MK Dons to find some much-needed game time, and it’s a move that has more than paid off, with the forward coming on leaps and bounds in the lower leagues.

Instead, it appears that the youngster will be given the chance to build on his game time for the Republic of Ireland with one goal and one assist coming from three starts in the UEFA Nations League. The report says that both Parrott and Spurs head coach Antonio Conte agree that he should spend another year away from Spurs before trying to earn a spot in the senior squad in 2023. Parrott enjoyed the most productive campaign of his career in 2021-22, contributing a total of nine goals and six assists as MK Dons challenged for promotion to the Championship.

The Championship clubs interested may have to be a little patient, however, as it is thought that the Irish striker may join Spurs’ pre-season tour to Korea before a destination is chosen – with the Premier League outfit looking for somewhere that will allow him to continue to develop via lots of minutes as a number nine. As for the striker himself, it is understood that he is determined to prove himself at the north London club but is aware of the benefit of another season out on loan and wants to leave in another temporary move this summer in order to aid his development.
