"You've just got to embrace these moments, especially to be one of the last two teams playing and I know we're all gonna bring it Monday. We're so excited. "You have a group of guys who are going to be in the Hall of Fame someday: Steph, Klay, Draymond," Kerr said. "I can't wait to see our fans, I know they're excited. "Whether that's their crowd, their team, our team, whoever wants to see that energy and that fire – we feed off of that. "I mean, this was nearly a must-win game and to go out there and shoot as efficiently as he did, and oh, grab 10 rebounds when they're attacking him on defense – I mean, his conditioning is second to none in this league. "I've always said, he's one of the most resilient, toughest guys that I've ever played with," said Green. "The way defenses guard him, who are constantly grabbing, and he just continues to play. "These guys are the constant. "I felt like I just had to let everybody know that we were here tonight," Curry said. "The things he does, we kind of take for granted from time to time. Even though we were down, it was night and day difference between Game 3 and Game 4 how we came out defensively. I could tell [by] his demeanour last couple of days, even after Game 3, that he was going to come out with that type of fire. He went 7-of-14 from three-point range on Friday night, making him the first player to score five-or-more threes in four consecutive NBA Finals games.

Stephen Curry 'wills' Golden State Warriors to victory with 43 points ... (ESPN)

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had what teammate Klay Thompson called his best Finals performance to date, scoring 43 points to lead the Warriors ...

"He was going to come out with that type of fire," Green said. Green added: "You just try to do what you can to help free him up to get him to his spots or open up some space for him to create and get to his spots. "The things he does we kind of take for granted from time to time," Thompson said. ... I think if everybody is forceful on the offensive end, and that means with cuts, that means crisp with your passes, then you allow him to be in the position to do what he does." But Curry outscored the rest of the Warriors' starters 43-39. He became just the fifth guard in NBA history to have at least 40 points and 10 rebounds in a Finals game. Kevon Looney, who came off of the bench for the first time this series, had 11 rebounds and finished with a plus-21 net rating. But it was Curry who carried them to the point when that shot could become the dagger. With just over a minute left in the game and the Warriors up three, Green grabbed the offensive rebound off a missed Thompson 3-pointer. "Felt like we just had to let everybody know that we were here tonight," Curry said. On Friday, he scored 10 in the final frame. BOSTON -- Stephen Curry isn't one to show tons of emotion throughout the course of a game.

Curry's 43 points helps Warriors edge Celtics to level NBA finals (Irish Examiner)

Stephen Curry scored 43 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 107-97 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA finals.

Boston’s got the best defense in the league — huge and powerful at every position, and for Steph to take that kind of pressure all game long and still be able to defend ... I think this is the strongest physically he’s ever been in his career.” Williams was listed as questionable coming into the game with the knee injury that kept him out at the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. But didn’t seem to bother him on Friday night: He played 41 minutes – only Wiggins spent more time on the court for the Warriors – and made 14 of 26 shots, including 7 of 14 from three-point range. The amped-up crowd spent much of the game booing Green, chanting an obscenity at him that is usually reserved for Bucky Dent, and jeering his many misses. “The things he does, we kind of take for granted at times, to go out there and put us on his back. Marcus Smart, who scored 18 points, hit a three-pointer to give the Celtics a 94-90 lead with just over five minutes remaining. Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and 16 boards for the Warriors, who have won at least one road game for 27 consecutive playoff series.

The Celtics looked more composed speed and pace wise, particularly in the first half, but were prone to turnovers. But as a three-time NBA champion coach, Kerr has been in difficult situations before and he backed his judgement by making big calls at the right times. It worked as the Warriors fought from behind to take the lead and never relinquished it. The Warriors had various aspects they were looking to improve on coming in and they ticked every box. But Boston, despite some big plays from that pair and from Robert Williams III on the defensive end, did not have enough. Andrew Wiggins pulled down the most boards of his career, 16 of them, to go with 17 points.

In the 2007 NBA draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected versatile big man Thaddeus Young with the 12th overall pick.

In seven seasons, Young averaged 13.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals as he was a guy the Sixers could count on a nightly basis. He was also a starter on the 2009 playoff team and he made a game-winner over Dwight Howard to give Philadelphia a 2-1 lead in that series before the Orlando Magic won three straight. He helped the Sixers make a surprising run to the NBA Playoffs and he started in all six games as Philadelphia was eliminated by the Detroit Pistons in Round 1.

When a coach takes a gamble in NBA Finals, it's often a matter of trust (The Athletic)

Draymond Green was removed from the game for Kevon Looney, who was playing great. Green was struggling again, just as he had in Game 3.

So if he has to ride a hot hand — and Looney was terrific in the second half — he can make major withdrawals from that bank of institutional memory. The Warriors rallied in a must-win because Curry was otherworldly, with 43 points and 10 boards, and because he had lots of help — from Andrew Wiggins (17 points, 16 rebounds), Klay Thompson (18 points) and Looney, who had 11 rebounds in 28 minutes. Kerr would have gotten withering criticism as well for taking Green out, as poorly as he played, had Golden State not won and tied the series at 2-2. Loon went in there, dominated the paint, got us some big rebounds, created a presence. “It’s not just your physical abilities; it’s the high-IQ teams that are able to make adjustments.” It worked and Milwaukee pulled out a series-tying win, the catalyst for the Bucks’ ultimate six-game victory. Down the stretch, Green made a couple of monster plays — a short-roll bounce pass to Looney for a layup and a pristine dime to Curry for a dagger 3-pointer with 1:42 remaining. Boston was closing in on a 3-1 lead, which would put them a game from their franchise’s 18th title, and the Warriors were in deep trouble. He came back in and made huge plays down the stretch, finishes the game with four steals, eight assists, nine boards. But it’s still a huge roll of the dice. A hundred games, eight months together, and often, a coach has to make a big decision, in real time, that can galvanize a team toward a huge win, or splinter it into a dozen pieces. BOSTON — Game 4 of an NBA Finals is, often, the championship series’ fulcrum.

Game 5 Preview: Warriors vs. Celtics - 6/13/22 (Warriors.com)

The NBA Finals return to Chase Center for a pivotal Game 5 matchup between the Warriors and Celtics.

Marcus Smart, Derrick White and Al Horford also have had their moments offensively for the Celtics in the Finals, who as a team are shooting 49 percent in their wins and 39 percent in their losses. He’s averaging 34.3 points while shooting over 49 percent (both overall and on 3-pointers), and he’s made no fewer than five threes in any game in these Finals. Should he keep up at this pace, this will be Curry’s highest scoring performance in his NBA Finals career, and the third highest scoring postseason series overall. He’s averaging 3.0 blocks per game and has the second best average plus-minus rating (+5.0) among players who play at least 15 minutes a game in this series, trailing only Looney. The Celtics have been the best road team during this postseason, and they’ll need that to ring true at least one more time to keep their Championship hopes alive. AST: Tatum (6.2) Wiggins has been dealt the tough task of defending Boston’s All-NBA star Jayson Tatum. And just as he did against Luka Doncic in the Western Conference Finals, Wiggins is making Tatum work for everything he gets in The Finals. Tatum is averaging 22.3 points while shooting 34.1 percent from the field, down from the 27.0 points on 44.6 percent shooting he had through the first three rounds of the postseason. In fact, the Warriors have outscored the Celtics by a single point (422-421) through the first four games. Curry made seven threes in the game and Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the win, which tied the series up at 2-2. AST: Green (6.2) Stephen Curry had 43 points and the Warriors ended a tightly contested game with a 17-3 run to win Game 4, 107-97, in Boston on Friday night. The Warriors have won the third quarter in each of the first four games of the series and are a cumulative plus-49 in that period for the series, but Boston rode dominant fourth quarters to each of their wins in Games 1 and 3. AST: 27.2 (1st) The Dubs have gone 10-1 at home this postseason, and with three games at most left in the series, the Warriors can and will use any edge they can with each team two wins away from an NBA Championship. If Monday’s Game 5 plays out anything like the first four games, it will be decided in the second half, as the team who has won the second half has won each of the first four games in the series.

Neither team has won consecutive games in this series, and for the Warriors to win the title, they need to do that. Boston’s philosophy is to make the game difficult for Curry on both ends. "Those are the times where you can be a little bit more aggressive, try to, let's say, force the issue a little bit," Curry said. He made 14-of-26 shots, 7-of-14 on 3s, 8-of-9 from the free throw line, and for the series, he is averaging 34.3 points and shooting 50% from the field and 49% on 3s. His consecutive baskets, including a 3 with 1:42 left in the game, gave the Warriors a 100-94 lead. "If they get the win, they take control of series."

"But it's the Finals. The art of competition, they came here feeling like they had to win," he said. "We obviously felt like we put ourselves in the position to win the game," Tatum said. I think that's kind of the beauty of it, that it's not going to be easy. "I know I'm impacting the game in other ways, but I got to be more efficient, shoot the ball better, finish at the rim better. I think we just got way too stagnant late in the fourth from everybody." I got to be better," the three-time All-Star told reporters.

Instead of pushing Warriors to brink in NBA Finals, Celtics' kryptonite ... (CBSSports.com)

Boston calls out its "stagnant" late-game offense, which, once again, is its undoing.

When the chips are down, the Celtics get stagnant, and when the Celtics get stagnant, just as they did against the Bulls in November, they lose. The pass is telegraphed enough for Green to scamper back out and contest. Tatum greases the wheels with a little shove off of the pass to give Horford the time he needs to fire off a 3-pointer. He's out on the perimeter guarding Smart. Tatum knows this, so when he kicks it to Horford in the corner, he knows that Looney won't be able to cover the same ground Green had earlier quite so quickly. Tatum starts in the corner before using White's screen to flash toward the nail. We get more of that when Brown switch hunts Thompson, gets stonewalled by Green and kicks it out to Smart in the corner. By the time Boston gets into any action, the shot clock is down to 14. Tatum doesn't get any, so he passes it back out to Brown. Wiggins is still inside of the arc from Tatum's drive, and he doesn't jump back out to guard Tatum on the perimeter. Almost every game the Celtics played to that point in the season was relatively close. Derrick White hands it off to Tatum and tries to screen him into a bit of runway. All of that early-season problem solving, all of those repetitions that forged their defense into the NBA's best? "Every team knows we're going to Jayson [Tatum] and Jaylen [Brown], and every team is programmed and studies to stop Jayson and Jaylen," Smart said.

Instead of saying someone played poorly, why is someone having such a hard time, what is the defense doing, things of that nature I think is what I can speak to, the experience of preparing for games, execution during the games, adjustments teams may be making throughout a game.” “Going to a new team I had to let people know how I was as a person, allow them to challenge me,” McCollum said. I think the biggest thing is building trust, and then you’re able to have a higher sense of accountability. “I don’t know what the soul of the Utah Jazz is,” Ainge said. “I had a special relationship with Doc Rivers as a former opponent of his in very heated competition,” Ainge said. “My NBA experience tells me most of the great teams and most of the great players I’ve been around are mostly chaos. “All of those guys would have been able to play in the league now because the physicality isn’t there,” he said. “The longer I coached, the more I simplified. “You on the shoulders of all these brothers like me and all the other brothers who were before me. “There were a few guys back then that would lay you out, that would knock you out, that would foul you and get thrown out the game. “I’m not in the middle of this series.

2022 NBA Finals: Stephen Curry, Warriors played the hits in Game 4 ... (CBSSports.com)

Nothing is easy against the Celtics, but a legendary Curry Flurry kept Golden State alive.

Curry said that, even though Golden State had a poor start offensively, the tone of the game was completely different from the previous one: "It wasn't a perfect first quarter, but we gave ourselves enough life." There were also Games 2 and 5 of the Finals, both in Toronto, both narrow, gutsy victories against an opponent that was ahead in the series and pulling out every defensive trick in the book. The Celtics' defense blends the best attributes of those Rockets (switchability) and those Raptors (intelligence). It has pushed Kerr to an uncomfortable place, where every lineup decision is a bet on Golden State either circumventing a spacing issue or scrounging up just enough stops to survive. That was its first experience on this stage, and it was down 2-1 against the Cleveland Cavaliers before it won three straight. Looney's layup turned a one-possession game into a two-possession game, and it deflated a crowd that was ready to explode. "The heart on that man is incredible," Thompson said.

Inside The Box Score: 2022 NBA Finals, Game 4 (NBA.com)

Take a closer look at Golden State's 107-97 win over Boston in Game 4 to tie the Finals at 2-2 with a deep dive into all aspects of the box score.

• In each of the first three games of the Finals, Marcus Smart was matched up with Stephen Curry for the most minutes of any Celtic, followed by Derrick White each time. • Stephen Curry shot the ball better when he was contested (9-for-14, 64.3%) than when he was left uncontested (5-for-12, 41.7%) in Game 4. • Boston doubled up the Warriors on box outs in Game 4, 12-6. • The teams tied in loose balls recovered as every 50-50 ball is critical in the Finals. No play may have demonstrated that more than Jayson Tatum’s dive and slide across the sidelines to try to save a ball from going out of bounds. • No player was on the move more than Klay Thompson in Game 4 as he traveled just under three miles on the court with a game-high 2.97 miles. In Game 4, the Warriors had 14 screen assists for 38 points – the top two marks of the series. • The Warriors assisted on only half of their made field goals in Game 4, which is not only their lowest assist percentage of the Finals, but is also their lowest mark of the entire postseason. • Boston has finished with a higher free throw rate in three of the four games in this series. He not only made the same number of 2s and 3s, he was also assisted at the same rate on both shot types (42.9%). • The first three games of the series featured only 11 total seconds of clutch time – score within five points in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime – and that came in Game 1, when Al Horford made a 3-pointer with 4:49 to play in the game to put Boston up by six. Boston’s Jaylen Brown led all players with 12 points in the paint, while Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 10, followed by Andrew Wiggins at eight. • In Boston’s two wins in this series, it has shot 50.6% (Game 1) and 48.3% (Game 3) as a team, respectively.

It wasn’t until a year ago that the idea of getting back in contact was first sparked by Ken finding his ticket stub while he was in the process of moving. “The game changed for us right there and it became all about Chase’s experience that night,” Ken said. “I just thought there’s so many times that you help a customer because it’s the right thing to do, and I kind of felt like that at the time,” Mary said. “I remember handing them up to him, and then thinking, ‘What did I just do?'” Mary said with a laugh. The reason she didn’t go to the game herself, but rather insisted that the ticket go to her son. But for a Finals Jazz game against Michael Jordan and the Bulls, it was like, ‘Yeah, I’m out of here guys.'” She has tickets to the Jazz game,” said Chase, who is now 38 and still lives in the Salt Lake City metro area.

Michael Jordan's 'Flu Game,' 25 years later: Three things you didn't ... (Sporting News)

On June 11, 1997, Jordan added an unforgettable chapter to his legacy with one of the most iconic performances in NBA Finals history.

"Is it easier to play with a herniated disc or to play with the flu?" But on that court, Scottie did a lot more than both of them, but Scottie felt like he was left out of there. Pippen was undoubtedly Jordan's best teammate throughout the Bulls' multiple three-peats, and he quite literally carried Jordan to the finish line in Game 5. "And Scottie set him up by drawing the double-team and getting the ball back to Michael [on offense]." I take the pizza, and I tell them, I said, 'I got a bad feeling about this.' I said, 'I just got a bad feeling about this.' Out of everybody in the room, he was the only one that ate. While appearing on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" earlier this year, Charles Oakley, who played for Chicago from 1985-88 and is one of Jordan's close friends, expressed his doubts. Jordan had enough in the tank to give the Bulls 38 points (13-of-27 shooting), seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block in 44 minutes. There was no doubt that Jordan was struggling heading into Game 5, so the Bulls tried to limit his workload on and off the floor. He checked on Jordan before tipoff, saying that he was going to play despite feeling "like crap." "I come to the room, he's curled up, he's curled up in the fetal position. "Scottie was all about, 'We'll take care of the defense. In 2013, Tim Grover, Jordan's former personal trainer, said on TrueHoop TV that Jordan was actually dealing with food poisoning, not the flu.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 1107-97 in Game 4 of the 2022 NBA Finals on Wednesday to even this series up at 2-2 heading back to ...

Perhaps no player had a greater impact on this game for Golden State than Andrew Wiggins, who finished with 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Having the ball late in the shot-clock and being assertive is what will win Boston this series. Stephen Curry put on an absolute show in this game and no matter if he was wide-open, heavily contested or being fouled, everything Curry seemed to put up went in, especially in the second-half. Through four games in the 2022 NBA Finals now, Curry is averaging 34.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and is shooting 49.8% from the floor, 49.1% from three-point range. Andrew Wiggins is a perfect example of this. - Draymond Green's Amazing Quote About Steph Curry After Game 4: On Friday, Draymond Green met with the media after the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics by a score of 107-97 to take Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The series is now tied up at 2-2.CLICK HERE. - Steph Curry's Viral Quote After Brilliant Game 4: Steph Curry met with the media after he had 43 points in the Golden State Warriors win over the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.CLICK HERE. The Celtics’ inconsistency on the offensive-end of the floor has hurt them at times in this series and it especially hurt them in Game 4, a game in which Boston could have taken. The third quarter of Game 4 was much like the third quarters of the previous three games in this series and the Warriors outscored the Celtics 30-24 with Curry scoring 14 points in the quarter and helping Golden State take a one-point lead into the fourth. Golden State ended up outrebounding Boston 55-42 in Game 4, helping them hold on and even up this series at 2-2 after a 107-97 victory on the road. Over the final twelve minutes of Game 4 on Friday night, Curry continued to give the Celtics’ defense fits and the Warriors as a whole were putting in work on the offensive and defensive glass. With their backs up against the wall and facing a scenario where they could have gone down 3-1 in the NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors responded in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics on Friday night.

Klay Thompson: Stephen Curry had his best NBA Finals game ... (Sky Sports)

Every game of the NBA Finals is live on Sky Sports: Watch Warriors @ Celtics – Game 4, live on Sky Sports Arena & Main Event, on Friday night from 1.45am ...

Finals Film Study: Boston's clutch time offense remains its Achilles ... (NBA.com)

In Game 4, the Warriors went on a late 10-0 run (between 5:18 and 1:32 remaining in the game) while the Celtics missed all 6 of their shots.

And after a Looney layup (when the Celtics got the ball out of Curry’s hands), the Celtics had their sixth and final clutch possession of Game 4. The Celtics also had multiple possessions earlier in Game 4 where they just weren’t very purposeful and settled for bad shots. Turnovers and rebounds have been a part of that, but shooting is the most important aspect of this game. The following possession (clutch possession No. 4), it was Green doing the same thing. Brown kicked out to Smart and Green made a huge effort to contest the shot as best he could: But Thompson saw what was happening, switched off of Brown in the corner, and contested Tatum at the rim without fouling: Flare screens (for multiple players) have become a big part of the Celtics’ offense in this series. The Celtics (plus-7.4) were 1.9 points per 100 possessions better than the Golden State Warriors (plus-5.5) in the regular season, but the Western Conference champs have home-court advantage in this series because they won two more games. Brooklyn, of course, had one of the worst defenses in the playoffs. But by beating their opponents so decisively (20 of the 28 wins were by double-digits, 15 were by 20 points or more), the Celtics didn’t really resolve their clutch issues. And over those four games, Boston scored 25 points on 21 clutch possessions ( 119 per 100), with Jayson Tatum’s Game 1 buzzer-beater being the highlight. That was the third-biggest differential in that regard in the 26 years for which we have clutch data.
