Peter Hickman beat Dean Harrison in the delayed Senior TT finale to end the 2022 Isle of Man TT with four victories in a week and his ninth in total.

Harrison found two more tenths into the Ramsey sector split, but Hickman kept his pace controlled over the remainder of the lap to become just the third rider in TT history to win four races in a week by 16.9s.. At Glen Helen on lap six, Hickman was 13.9s clear of Harrison, and 12.3s ahead of Ballaugh as the DAO Racing rider tried everything to mount a challenge for victory. Harrison found a further second on the run to Ballaugh, but again Hickman rallied on his BMW to lead by 16.5s as he began the last lap of TT 2022. Come the second round of stops at the end of lap four, Hickman was 19.3s clear – but was 13.9s ahead come Glen Helen on the next tour. Harrison – who struck a bird on the first tour and damaged his front fairing - wouldn’t get any closer to Hickman over the second lap, his disadvantage growing to 14.6s as the first round of pitstops took place at the end lap two. The gap came down again to 9.8s at Ballaugh, but Hickman opened that up again across the rest of the lap to start the fourth tour 18.6s clear.

Dunlop is over second seconds adrift of the leader. He is now 11.3 seconds ahead of Harrison at Ramsey hairpin. Hickman is 18.6 seconds ahead of Harrison who is 21.3 seconds in front of Cummins. Cummins now third, just 0.4 seconds ahead of Todd. Cummins is third, now 1.1 seconds ahead of Todd. His lead now stands at over 14 seconds with a third of the race completed. Cummins now over 2 seconds ahead of Todd for third. At Ballaugh Hickman is 12.9 seconds ahead of Harrison with Cummins still third.

Peter Hickman secured his fourth win of the 2022 Isle of Man TT by lifting the blue riband Senior TT trophy in the final outing of the week. Dunlop crept closer to the all-time winners’ record but tragically the 2022 TT featured five deaths, the most in a single running of the event since 1989. The race, delayed from Friday by adverse weather but reinstated to its original six-lap length as a result, brings the 2022 Isle of Man TT to a conclusion after a week of extreme highs and lows.

Coming into the pits for the second stop at the end of lap four and Hickman was controlling his advantage over Harrison, the margin 19.3s with two laps remaining. Harrison was suffering with a holed windscreen, the legacy of having hit a bird, whilst Todd had moved ahead of Cummins albeit by just 0.3s. Dunlop was holding onto fifth with Hillier back up to sixth after regaining the time he’d lost at the pits. Another good run over the Mountain, and a second lap of 132.627mph, the fastest of the race, saw Hickman’s lead sit at 14.6s as he made his first pit stop. With conditions similar to the Supersport race the day before, the strong winds over the Mountain continuing, Harrison led at the first timing point at Glen Helen, his lead over Hickman just half a second. The running order behind was now Herbertson, Hutchinson, Coward and John McGuinness MBE, the latter just ahead of the impressive Mike Browne. Todd was eight tenths of a second further back with teammate Cummins just half a second in arrears. Once again, Hickman’s lead was cut after the pit stop but the 35-year old had everything under control and with no issues over the final two laps, he duly took the chequered flag by 16.918s. In the fight for third, Todd had brought the gap to Cummins down to half a second at Ramsey last time around but it was Cummins who had the better run over the Mountain to take the final podium position by 2.8s. At the end of lap three, half race distance, Hickman had extended his lead considerably to 18.6s and although Harrison was comfortably in second, the battle for third was continuing to rage with Cummins 0.8s ahead of Todd. Dunlop, Hillier, Hutchinson, Herbertson, Coward and Neve were running fifth to tenth but both Gary Johnson and Michael Rutter were forced to retire at the pits. Although the lead was reduced at Ballaugh, Hickman responded on the run to Ramsey and was 11.3s ahead of Harrison with Cummins having nosed back ahead of Todd, the gap still less than half a second. Through Glen Helen on lap two and Hickman added another half second to his lead and after overhauling Todd on the road along the Cronk y Voddy straight, his advantage was up to 10.1s as he leapt Ballaugh Bridge. Cummins, Todd and Dunlop remained in third to fifth and Hillier was now up to sixth. Hickman built on his lead up and down the Mountain and with an opening lap of 132.381mph he now led Harrison by an ominous looking 8.3s. Cummins was exactly five seconds adrift in third and was now almost three seconds ahead of Todd. Dunlop was still in fifth but it was now Dominic Herbertson (Gilbert Brown & Son) in sixth ahead of James Hillier (RICH Energy OMG Racing), Hutchinson, Jamie Coward (KTS Racing powered by Steadplan) and Craig Neve (Callmac Scaffolding).
