Stockport: Girl in tears after Tui holiday ruined by 32-hour delays (Metro)

An eight-year-old girl was left in tears after her family's £8000 dream holiday turned into a 32-hour delay nightmare.

‘We are working hard to address our resource challenges and have hired 2,800 new colleagues since the start of the year. A spokesperson for Swissport, a ground handling company, apologised for the Tynan’s experience and said it was ‘looking into the specific circumstances to understand what went wrong’. ‘We’d like to apologise again for the inconvenience caused and we thank customers for their understanding.’ As the plane sat on the runway, a pilot announced the Tui flight was waiting for bags to be loaded due to a shortage in baggage handling staff. Kate eventually received an email to say the flight had been cancelled and rescheduled for the following afternoon. Kate Tynan boarded the flight on time with her husband and two children but they then sat on the runway for almost four hours without moving.

TUI cancels heartbroken mum's holiday - after family spent TWO ... (Accrington Observer)

A family have spoken out about how their whole holiday was cancelled - after spending two days in Manchester Airport.

They have said they will give us a full refund and some compensation but it's not good enough because we’ve lost our holiday and two whole days at the airport. The family made the decision to go home where they claim to have received a text at 8pm on Monday night informing them that the whole holiday had been cancelled. "We went on Sunday to Manchester Airport where the queues through security were really bad, but we got through and still had time to spare. They trapped us inside these barriers where there was nowhere to sit or go to the toilet. We waited outside Manchester Airport for a coach for over an hour and nothing came." Karen Bhalla, 32, arrived at Manchester Airport with her husband, son, mum and mother-in-law on May 29 in the hopes of flying to Antalya, Turkey, for a week in the sun.

"When they told us it was cancelled I was so upset I wanted to cry, if they had told us the night before we would have still been angry but at least we would have been able to get straight on the computer and start looking for an alternative. "By the time they had told us and we had turned back to the skylink to go, the queue had completely disappeared, I think everyone had gone home because there were only three flights leaving." "We were checking our emails and phones and the flight constantly, and it kept saying it was still scheduled, they were sending us emails saying 'get ready for your holiday'. "We had been watching the news and it was saying they were cancelling six flights a day but that if yours was cancelled you would be told the night before. But the mum-of-three said she was left furious and like she "wanted to cry" when a TUI rep told her the holiday was cancelled as she waited in line to check-in. Sarah told The Mirror : "We had actually got to the airport and had just joined the queue when a woman with a clipboard came over and asked us where we were going.

Family spent two days in airport over delays before being removed ... (Metro)

Daniel Riley, 43, wife Diane, 41, and daughter Eva, 11, had booked to fly to Crete on Sunday morning from Manchester Airport. Due to a number of cancellations ...

They were all told the flight had to be moved to a smaller plane requiring a number of customers to be removed from the flight. Tui said they have to claim a reimbursement from their booking agent On The Beach, but Mr Riley said it’s proving impossible to get ahold of the company. Instead of the airline putting up the delayed passengers overnight, they were left to arrange and pay for their own accommodation, and return the next afternoon. ‘We’d waited on the runway for hours, due to the backlog of cases and lack of staff they couldn’t get the luggage onto the plane. The next morning they were able to pass security and board the airplane with ease, but were left grounded on the runway for three hours before all the passengers were escorted back into the airport. Due to a number of cancellations and delays, Tui advised them to drop off their luggage the night before to avoid getting stuck in queues on the morning of their flight.
