Amanda Holden's outfit was the one that stole the night, however, as she adorned herself in the Union Jack as tribute to the Platinum Jubilee. The 43-year-old judge looked incredible in her sequinned and netted dress as she made her way to the panel alongside co-stars Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Amanda Holden.

'Our final thoughts!' Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon gear up for ... (What's On TV)

Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden look ahead to the Britain's Got Talent grand final and reflect on their favourite moments of the series…

"You can’t always put your finger on it but there will be something about someone, their journey and their story that touches people’s hearts and makes the public want to root for them. It's more about celebrating entertainment, and the best of the best." With over 20 years’ experience writing about TV and film, Vicky currently writes features for What’s on TV, TV Times, TV & Satellite Week magazines plus news and watching guides for WhatToWatch.com, a job which involves chatting to a whole host of famous faces. One minute I was on stage and then the next minute I was asleep, and Alesha was like: “Well, you just did this.” And I was like: “No, I didn’t.” I was tasked with guessing what the other judges had picked from a box. "We had loads of choirs, which is something we've never had lots of before," says Amanda. "What was really special this year is that many of them had just come together that day, because they'd only ever met on Zoom before! There were a lot of acts this year where I think each one of us would've said: 'I would've pressed it for that.' I think all of us had strong Golden Buzzer acts this year." "It’s always a challenge for everyone involved in making this show to maintain a high standard and make sure every episode is as entertaining as the one before it and, this year, I think every show has been a winner," says Alesha. "I sit at home with my family and I watch BGT as if I wasn't ever there! His whole act from start to finish was just the gift that kept on giving, so I was really looking forward to seeing him again in the live shows. "I have to say, I was relieved we had our audience back at the auditions as it wasn’t the same without them," says Amanda. "It made us realise just how important that live audience is. "I loved Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act, Keiichi Iwasaki, the magician from Japan," says Alesha. "His magic was genius and really fresh. "This series was myself, Simon, David and Amanda’s 10th year together as a panel," says Alesha. "I’ve always found it fascinating because the four of us are VERY different personality-wise, yet, when we come together, we’ve got this love for entertainment, this show, our kids and our dogs and all those things unite us. You can see the chemistry we have on screen.

Ant and Dec offer their support after a Britain's Got Talent final act ... (Mirror.co.uk)

Britain's Got Talent acts Flintz & Taylor, who were awarded the golden buzzer during their audition, made a mistake at the start of their performance.

And I'm telling you now boys, this is just the beginning." For the finale, they performed an original song inspired by their journey on the show. Ant told the musician: "It doesn't get better than working with your best friend, trust me. But, let me tell you something right now; what you've done, what you guys have achieved together on this show far outweighs any teeny tiny mistake up there." They first met in person at their audition earlier this year. Quacey asked Taylor to put a melody behind his rap but they met in real life only on the day of the audition as Quacey lives in Croydon, South London, and Taylor lives in Great Barr, Birmingham.

Britain's Got Talent Final, review: For a variety contest, there was a ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

Comedian Axel Blake triumphed on an overlong final full of emotion, upsets and far too many commercial breaks.

The judges dispensed platitudes about how every act was a potential winner. The Queen was reverentially mentioned throughout. Let’s hope Axel Blake performs in front of the Queen herself this autumn. The bloated 150-minute runtime was padded out with recap VTs, plugs for QR codes and incessant commercial breaks. Not only has she performed on the soundtrack of blockbuster film The Greatest Showman but she’s competed on the US version of The Voice and duetted with Andrea Bocelli. The judges bent over backwards to justify her presence in this final. The final was dominated by music and comedy, with no room for acrobats, magicians or novelty acts. For a variety contest, there was a distinct lack of, well, variety. Following four TV days of pomp and pageantry, it was a relief to slump in front of something so reassuringly formulaic. The eyebrow-raising upset was bookies’ favourite Maxwell Thorpe not even finishing in the top three. The 33-year-old property maintenance manager from West London was endearingly lost for words when he bagged the £250,000 cash prize and a coveted spot at this year’s Royal Variety Performance. His stage presence was arguably superior to his material but Blake possessed timing, style and undoubted star quality. Had the match gone to extra time and penalties, they’d have been faced with an awkward clash. However, the diminutive eco-warrior earned brownie points by telling off Cowell for having chewing gum under his desk and flattering extra lights on his face.
