Joan Brady, who passed away in March, had taken part in the annual event every year since it began in 1983.

“During Covid it was a lifeline for her, she would organise walks with a couple of ladies she got close to with social distance (walking) outdoors,” Helen added. It quickly became established and every year, women would join her ‘Dundalk Joggers and Walkers’ group to prepare for the big day in Dublin. Some women would join the walking group for a few years and then fall away, only to return, often with their daughters by their side.

You can leave your belongings at the bag drop at Merrion Square South before the race starts. You are asked to bring a clear reusable bag for your things, and the staff warn that belongings will be left at your own risk. If you chose to collect it, you should have already picked it up from Merrion Square.
