Cristiano Ronaldo MUST be axed by Man Utd to 'make big bold ... (The Irish Sun)

ERIK TEN HAG has been urged by Jamie Carragher to AXE Cristiano Ronaldo straight away as he stated the striker was "not a good signing".That is despit.

"United need to buy a striker, but who do you buy? "What do you do? "But Ronaldo has never played in a team this bad, he’s played in some of the best teams and has the attitude of wanting to be the main man, trying to get the goals, driving people on, and when you’re in a great team, that’s something I’m seeing as a positive.

Jamie Carragher Urges Erik Ten Hag To Sell Cristiano Ronaldo (SPORTbible)

Jamie Carragher has urged Erik ten Hag to make a similar move to one Pep Guardiola took in his first summer at Manchester City, and sell Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking exclusively to SPORTbible, Carragher said, "I thought it was a joke. "When you’re not playing for a great team it can be seen as a negative and I think it has been this season. That’s not right for Man United." "I’m convinced that Ten Hag has got to do it with Ronaldo, whether he’s allowed to or not. "He’s always played for great teams and his attitude of trying to be the main man, driving the team on, getting the goals, when you’re in a great team that is seen as a positive. Earlier in the season some were claiming that Ronaldo was the 'problem' with the team, especially when he went on a poor run without goals in the middle of the season, and he was dropped when Ralf Rangnick first came into the team.

Manchester United transfer news: Cristiano Ronaldo should be sold ... (Metro)

Erik ten Hag should lay down a marker at Manchester United by getting rid of Cristiano Ronaldo as soon as he starts the job because it will send a message.

If you buy a really good one then he has to play, and Ronaldo has to go on the bench,’ said Carragher. Do you buy one who’s going to play, or one who’s going to sit on the bench? But Carragher believes Ronaldo is a poor fit for the way that Ten Hag wants to play and that he will only become a bigger problem if the Dutchman allows him to stay beyond the summer.

Jamie Carragher is doubling down on his claims that Erik ten Hag needs to make a big Manchester United statement by offloading Cristiano Ronaldo.

And that should still be the case even if they do land a new striker this summer. But I’m not saying that to be disrespectful to him – he’s amazing! I’ve said this consistently throughout this season: that was not a good signing. “I’m convinced that Ten Hag has got to do it with Ronaldo, whether he’s allowed to or not. I’m seen as a guy who’s criticising Ronaldo. However, despite his success, Ronaldo has continued to divide opinion.

But the rest of the Avalanche need to look in the mirror and realize that the face staring back is probably really good with the puck. Keep in mind, St. Louis was on the power play at the time and down by a goal. In a separate L.A. Times story, Woike and Broderick Turner review the qualifications for Stotts, Ham and Atkinson and examine the arguments for and against hiring each of them. Scheduling an in-person interview with Atkinson is complicated because Golden State is in the Western Conference Finals. Stotts, Ham and Atkinson are reportedly the only finalists for the position, but a source told veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein this week that the Lakers may still be considering other candidates. And after a plucky performance by the Blues in the final frame and overtime, St. Louis came away with a 5-4 victory in overtime. Had Colorado scored a short-handed goal to make it 2-0 in favor of the Avalanche, I’m not sure St. Louis recovers. Wow. Game 5 of the second-round matchup between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues was a modern classic. Now that Matt Ryan is in Indianapolis, everyone thinks the Colts are just going to walk all over the AFC South. Our guy Iain MacMillan even thinks Ryan will play so well that he’ll win the MVP. I don’t agree with that, and I don’t agree with the notion that the Colts will have a cake walk to the division title. Course history and past success is a big part of handicapping golf, and if you want to lean into that this week, then you need to take a hard look at Jordan Spieth. The PGA Tour has its final stop in Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge, set to be hosted at Colonial Country Club. Over the past seven years, nobody has performed better at this track than Spieth. Let's start off by looking at where he ranks in the top 10 golfers on the odds list to win this week. The Avalanche quickly retook the lead when MacKinnon completed a hat trick by racing the entire length of the ice for one of the prettiest goals of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. But MacKinnon's heroic moment was undone when the Blues stunned the Colorado crowd with a game-tying goal from Thomas in the final minute of regulation. WynnBET has the Jaguars’ odds to win the AFC South at +600, behind the Titans at +145 and the Colts at -110. We’re in the dog days of the NFL offseason, but there is still so much to look forward to, especially in the futures market, during OTAs and ahead of training camp.

There was no surprise at Cobham when Vale was named Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Season, an award previously won by Conor Gallagher, Billy Gilmour and Tino Livramento. He has starred for the Under-23s side in a difficult season for the youth team, scoring nine goals and assisting five, and earned a handful of senior appearances to go with it. And the German has been true to his word, handing out 131 minutes to the 18-year-old in domestic cup competitions — the most of any academy player. It would be a bit embarrassing now, but I was in love with him as a kid,” Vale told the club’s official website.

Despite CR7 scoring an impressive haul of goals on his return, Gary Neville reckons his presence caused an imbalance in the dressing room.

He does, however, have concerns over his former teammate’s impact in the dressing room. “[He was] being pleaded to stay and lead the attack for the year, but when they signed Ronaldo, Cavani was shot then and finished. It made Maguire a little bit inferior as captain just naturally – nothing from Ronaldo’s doing this.
