Reports: Tottenham to back Conte with six new summer signings (Cartilage Free Captain)

If the stories and reports coming out in the English football media one day after the end of the Premier League season are any indication, Tottenham Hotspur ...

The next step is to show intent by making a few signings early in the window — the new Premier League season begins on Sat. August 6 due to the winter World Cup in Qatar, while the transfer window doesn’t close until Monday, September 1. Multiple media outlets, including the Telegraph, Football.London, and The Athletic (£) are reporting today that, having secured a spot in next year’s Champions League competition, Tottenham Hotspur are planning to back manager Antonio Conte with six new signings in order to convince him to stay at Spurs for an additional season. This includes, according to both sources, six new players that are a mix of young, up-and-coming talents with resale value (Spurs’ bread and butter) along with older, veteran, peak-level players in order to push to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Report reveals what Levy promised Conte following Tottenham's ... (The Spurs Web)

The Athletic have revealed that Daniel Levy promised to back Antonio Conte in the summer following the Italian's outburst back in February after Spurs fell ...

In fact, that very moment was arguably the biggest turning point in our season and we might have not got top four without Conte’s ‘shock therapy’. I was extremely disappointed with Conte’s outburst in February and felt at the time that the Italian should walk away from the club if he did not want the job as I was tired of him constantly complaining to the press and acting as if this job was beneath him. Levy and Paratici were said to have met with Conte in the aftermath of his outburst and allegedly agreed with the 52-year-old that his ‘shock therapy’ was the only way forward.

NBA Rumors: Execs monitoring Spurs as trade partner (Air Alamo)

The San Antonio Spurs have plenty of assets to use in the coming months to make moves ...

The Spurs could also use one of those picks to punt for a 2023 pick, which is a class predicted to be loaded with talent. In addition to their 9th pick, San Antonio has the 20th, 25th, and 38th picks in June's draft to work with, so any combination of those can be used to tempt a team that's looking for quantity over quality. Since it's the Spurs, we're not going to hear any leaks of intents on draft night, so the most we can do is make an educated guess on what makes the most sense for them.

Johnny Davis Says Being Drafted By Spurs Something He 'Really ... (Sports Illustrated)

The Spurs may not have been satisfied with the ninth pick, but Davis sees a potential fit for his NBA future.

While his strength is centered around attacking the lane, these openings won't be easily available at the NBA level. He failed to reach double-digits in only one game, scoring four points in a 51-49 Wisconsin win in early February. Despite leading Wisconsin in the scoring column with 17 points, Davis struggled in the loss, shooting 4-16 from the field, 0-7 from deep, and committing four turnovers. Davis was simply one of the best players in college basketball this past season. One pre-lottery mock draft from NBC Sports actually had Davis heading to San Antonio at 10th overall. Johnny Davis

Latest Consensus Projection For Spurs With No. 9 Overall Pick: NBA ... (Sports Illustrated)

On the day of the 2022 NBA Draft, Duren is going to be one of the youngest prospects in his class. Other common projections for the Spurs include Johnny Davis ...

At 6-6, 175, Ellis' lengthy frame and size could give the Spurs another intriguing prospect with high 3-and-D potential. The Raleigh, FL. native averaged 13.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game last season while leading the Tigers with 69 makes from 3-point range. The only downside to Ellis is his low assist numbers. Aside from red-shirting in the 2017-2018 season at Tulsa, Horne has played in 29 or more games in each collegiate season he's played in. But with respectable NBA size at 6-7, 205 and a pro-level face-up scoring ability, Horne has received understandable interest from the Spurs. Days, who started all 33 games he played in for the Tigers last season, provides ideal stretch-big ability that San Antonio desperately needs. Factor in his shot-blocking ability and he has some solid two-way upside to anchor a unit that features Dejounte Murray at the point of attack. He specializes in doing the dirty work on both ends of the floor and showcased this with averages of 12.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 25.3 minutes per game at Memphis. Other common projections for the Spurs include Johnny Davis and Jeremy Sochan. He had seven double-doubles this season and scored a season-high 23 points on 10-13 shooting in Kansas' 85-59 win over West Virginia on Jan. 15. He appeared in all 63 possible games with Tulsa, starting in 23 of them. He also added six rebounds and three assists.

Paddy Power's dodgy lasagne stunt only spurs on Tottenham (The Drum)

Unappetizing reviews of the lasagne include a vivid report from a Mr W.Enger, who estimates the putrid dish goes from plate to bowl in 90 minutes. And, with a trip to rock-bottom Norwich being the smallest final-day hurdle known to man, their qualification looks nailed on. Poorly camouflaged in pristine chef whites, the suspicious characters were seen scurrying into a service entrance in a none-too-subtle nod to the 2005/6 ‘lasagne-gate’ scandal, which saw the dodgy Italian meal scupper the team’s Champions League hopes after many players went down with food poisoning.

Take a step back and there is a sense of a club on the rise. This is a young squad and there have been clear signs of progress. And that perhaps has been the most encouraging aspect of the run-in, that Spurs have begun to look like a Conte side, overwhelming opponents. Conte, though, could be at Paris Saint-Germain by the start of next season, with the blood-letting in Paris likely to begin this week after it was confirmed that Kylian Mbappé will stay at the club. For Arsenal, meanwhile, there is the sense of a great opportunity wasted. Tottenham and Arsenal both finished the season with a flourish, scoring five goals apiece in wins over Norwich City and Everton, but what really mattered were the two games before that.

Tottenham: Antonio Conte returning Spurs to the Champions ... (CBSSports.com)

When Nuno Espirito Santo was fired in November, months after he was hired to lead Spurs, this team could've gone plenty of different ways. But, perhaps, only ...

Entering a critical summer, everything possible must be done to ensure that Spurs' golden manager stays in charge as he has already shown a taste of what he can do without the team even having a preseason under him. Decisions need to be made on the outside back positions and Ben Davies can't be expected to perform at this level as in the left center-back position for an entire season next year but selling Champions League soccer is always easier than selling the hope of it. Fabio Paratici is very aware of Conte's ways and can help ensure that if a target can't be afforded on Spurs' budget that someone comparable can be added. Conte's machine became a team that could beat you in many different ways and their return to Champions League is a signal that better days are on the horizon. There was doubt that this would be a relationship that worked as Levy prefers shopping in the bargain bin while Conte wants top shelf additions -- and some of those questions are still there entering the summer window -- but with that Champions League platform now there (and the extra money that goes along with it), the hope is that Spurs now can offer what Conte's transfer targets are looking for. After a summer window that saw them flit from name to name in their search to replace Jose Mourinho, almost appointing Gennaro Gattuso as manager before finally settling on Nuno, had Spurs got it wrong yet again when Nuno was fired it would have been disastrous.

In comments made after Sunday’s win, Conte said: “I am a person who has ambition and I like to fight for something important, to lift a trophy. As such, Gold’s claim that the 60-year-old chairman looks as if he will back his coach this summer is undoubtedly fantastic news for everyone involved with the Tottenham, as Conte has proven this season that he is capable of taking Spurs to the next level in the upcoming campaign. For me, [qualifying for the Champions League] is a trophy & I’m very happy.

Despite the Catalan giant’s financial issues, they will likely be able to afford the 33-year-old, given that he has only 12 months left to run on his contract at the Allianz Stadium. Lewandowski has just 12 months left on his contract with Bayern, with 90 min reporting last week that the striker has indicated to the Bundesliga giants he will not be signing a new contract and wants to leave this summer. Foot Mercato have now also backed up the claim regarding Lewandowski’s wish to move to Barca, stating that the striker is attracted to the idea of playing in the Camp Nou and living in the Catalonian capital.

Spurs player review: Devin Vassell showed he has a high floor and ... (Pounding The Rock)

Vassell did a good job as a role player for the 2021/22 Spurs, but can he be more than that? His third year should offer some answers.

Even if he doesn’t become a go-to scorer any time soon, bringing more consistent three-point shooting from all over the floor — he shot much better from the right side last year — and continuing to develop on the defensive end would be enough to keep the fanbase excited in his third year. Vassell has already shown that he can be a solid role player, but can he be elite on either end, or at least very good on both? If the Spurs go with a more traditional power forward next to two wings, Vassell will likely stay at shooting guard for the foreseeable future, as long as he starts, and would only be asked to occasionally move up a spot to small forward. It’s a big season for Vassell, as he will be eligible for an extension in the summer of 2023. There were not many flashes of potential greatness in his sophomore campaign, but considering he’s still just 21-years-old and has already shown the ability to be a two-way force even as a starter, it was a successful year for him. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury sidelined him for five games in late November, and he struggled upon his return, as his outside shot — his biggest tool to help on offense — abandoned him for a while.

Here is your Spurs digest on Tuesday, May 23. Spurs eye Palhinha. Tottenham are reportedly considering a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Certainly helped by the January additions of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski as the pair helped take the team to the next level, it is imperative that the head coach is backed this summer if Tottenham are to keep on progressing. Hugo Lloris believes Antonio Conte already knows exactly what he wants and needs at Tottenham next season and there is "huge confidence" in the camp. While he has a release clause in his contract set at €60million (£50.9million), Sporting are said to be ready to accept a bid around the €25million (£21.2million) mark.

Tottenham transfer window: Why Spurs face most crucial summer ... (iNews)

Qualifying for the Champions League was crucial to Spurs' aims but further improvements are required if the club is to end its long wait for silverware in ...

Conte, Kane and Son are all world-class and the pillars of Spurs’ project. It is also of paramount importance that new signings this summer adapt as quickly as Romero, Bentancur and Kulusevski have to ensure that Spurs are in a position to compete for honours right away. Nobody is quite sure what lies in store for Chelsea, but a takeover could galvanise the club after a slump in 2022. Fast forward to 22 May, 2022 when a beaming Son was being hoisted onto the shoulders of his team-mates after drawing level for goals with Mo Salah, Kane was fist-pumping the Spurs support and Antonio Conte was serenaded by fans drunk on jubilation. Closing the gap on both will be immensely difficult, particularly as Arsenal, Manchester United and maybe even Newcastle, will invest heavily in their squads. Not for the first time, Spurs are approaching a pivotal transfer window.

New transfer window starts with finishing the old one for Tottenham (HotspurHQ)

Tottenham Hotspur needs to complete a lot of transfer business this summer to appease Antonio Conte, that business starts with finishing the prior market.

Deki was nothing short of a godsend for Spurs in the second half of the season. Although he has an entire season left on his contract, Tottenham Hotspur has reached the point where things could go sideways with Conte. If Spurs’ hierarchy fails to back Conte in the transfer market, there is always the potential that the Italian could walk. Last summer, as cash was tight coming off a season without fans, Tottenham used the loan market to get an infusion of new talent into the club.
