Scottie Scheffler showed a moment of frustration on the final hole of his first round of the PGA (but still made an amazing par save).

โ€œBogeying the last three is definitely not very fun, so it was good to make that par at the end. โ€œDefinitely going to make my dinner taste a little better,โ€ Scheffler said of the par save on 18. Scheffler, the 25-year-old World No. 1, was one under on the front nine of Southern Hills on Thursday, but his back nine was much more eventful.

Scottie Scheffler took out his frustration on his driver during the opening round of the PGA Championship.

"I'm definitely a lot further back than I had hoped to be, but at the end of the day I'll probably be in 40th place. Scheffler was playing his final hole of the day and sent his drive into the water and had to take a penalty drop. He told the media: "Yeah, I mean, it's early in the week; still a lot of golf left to play. After three straight pars, Scheffler would pick up three bogeys on holes No. 9-13, as he slipped down the leaderboard, sitting at even after 13 holes. What was setting up to be a solid finish all fell apart in the final four holes though, as Spieth would pick up three bogeys to bring his score to +2 over par, which sees him at T56 after Thursday. Spieth hit the course first and appeared to be getting off to a solid start, hitting par on the first five holes of the course. Scheffler had a slightly better opening round than Spieth, but not by much. He too would pick up a par on the first four holes before an impressive eagle putt on the Par five hole No. 5, putting him at -2 under par on the day. After four straight pars on holes No. 8-11, Spieth would pick up a birdie on the Par four hole No. 12 to give him a -1 under par for the day.
