Bundesliga Team of the Season: OptaFranz's XI | The Analyst (The Analyst)

Bayern Munich sealed their 10th successive Bundesliga title, while Borussia Dortmund, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and RB Leipzig completed the rest of the top four.

He’s now scored 312 goals in the competition, with 238 of those coming in a Bayern Munich shirt – only Gerd Müller (365) has more both overall and for a single club in the competition. Averaging a league-best 109 touches per 90 minutes, Kimmich is at the heart of Bayern’s midfield and no other player has been involved in as many open play sequences per 90 minutes as the German international (67). Yet he does not just sit deep, feeding short passes to his team-mates. In what could reportedly be his final Bundesliga campaign, Lewandowski solidified his legendary status in the competition with his 2021-22 performances. The Frenchman was at his most dangerous when running with the ball, leading the league with nine goals scored from carries. The Bavarian has created 82 chances from open play, bettering the tally of the next-best player (Nkunku) by 26. One of the players the Saxons brought in to replace the two Frenchmen was Josko Gvardiol. Despite only being 19 years old at the time of his arrival, Gvardiol slotted immediately into the defence, which ended up conceding the joint-fewest goals in the league alongside Bayern (37). Bayer 04 Leverkusen sealed a top-four finish in the Bundesliga for the first time since 2018-19, thanks to new coach Gerardo Seoane turning them into one of the best counter-attacking outfits in the competition. For such a playing style it is fundamental to have quick players available, such as right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who posted a top speed of 36.1 km/h, ranking him seventh in the league. Gvardiol has attempted 51 take-ons in the Bundesliga – 12 more than any other central defender. At BVB, Schlotterbeck will be joined by Niklas Süle, whom he will be also competing against for a spot in the German side, after winning his first two caps this March. Despite never playing in the top-flight before August 2021, Raum didn’t take long to push any doubts about his credibility as a top-flight player aside. Our German data experts at OptaFranz have compiled their Bundesliga team of the season based on the data, with the squad containing some familiar names, but also some surprises and rising stars.

Bundesliga trading card, NFT deals to generate $179 million yearly ... (Ledger Insights)

Next season German football league Bundesliga will earn $179 million form physical collectibles and non-fungible tokens (NFTs)

The €170 million coming in from collectibles rights for Bundesliga will be split among the three platforms, while it appears that possibly two providers will be awarded Premier League’s rights. Bundesliga is the fourth most popular league in the world, topped by Italy’s Serie A, Spain’s La Liga, and England’s Premier League. The Premier League’s NFT rights were reportedly worth up to $590 million over four years, and four NFT platforms, including Sorare were in the race for it. German football league Bundesliga’s non-fungible token (NFT) deals combined with sticker and trading card licensing will generate income of €170 million ($179m) in the 2023-2024 season.

Bayern Munich stars dominate our 2021-22 Bundesliga best XI (Ghanasoccernet.com)

While the Bayern ace only enhanced his on-field reputation and underscored his importance to the Rekordmeister this past season, a debate is raging here in Germany as to whether Kimmich is a true No. 6 by nature. Part of me wanted to give this position to someone else, such as Patrik Schick or the incredible Anthony Modeste, but Lewandowski remains the gold standard even though the body language away from the game might reveal a slightly unhappy camper. You also sense the joy he derives from playing, which is not always a given with everyone. Müller remains the true assists king of German football and was formally crowned as such for the fourth time in five seasons. He has also become a leader within the team, carrying others on his young, broad shoulders. Is there a more entertaining right-back in the Bundesliga? That the diminutive Frimpong might be even more at home higher up the pitch gives you a clue as to why he's so eye-catching. Bayern reportedly made a late push to hijack the deal, but the youngster had already reached his decision. In his first season, he was allowed to feel his way somewhat, not always a regular, but with abundant promise. He's a true Malocher (someone addicted to hard work) and provides a big part of the platform for the creative Vincenzo Grifo on the left, the team's Zuckerseite (their productive flank.) Günter really cares. Süle ultimately didn't feel appreciated enough at Bayern and their loss is BVB's gain for the next four years. There will be omissions that some regard as egregious and unfair, but this is not meant to be a scientific study analysing every challenge, pass and speed clocked. That might be the reaction of someone who watches the Bundesliga only peripherally.

Sure, his time at Arsenal petered out afterwards. His total of 22 goals and 14 assists in 90 appearances for the Blues isn’t mind-blowing but there’s still plenty of time for Havertz to boost his numbers over the forthcoming years. Seventy-two goals in 189 appearances isn’t a record to be sniffed at and the signing from Wolfsburg proves that there’s value to be had from the Bundesliga. “The world is going mad,” Phil Thompson said. After moving to the Emirates for £56million at the start of 2018, the Gabon international won the Premier League Golden Boot and scored twice in Arsenal’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea in 2020. The 29-year-old is the leading Asian goalscorer in both Premier League and Champions League history and his partnership with Harry Kane is one of the best things about modern football.

Bayern Munich dominated another Bundesliga season, but did they ... (ESPN)

Bayern Munich won their 10th straight Bundesliga crown last month, so how many of their stars would make up Derek Rae's 2021-22 team of the season?

The point is that Bellingham plays with a remarkable maturity and his development in Dortmund is clear. While the Bayern ace only enhanced his on-field reputation and underscored his importance to the Rekordmeister this past season, a debate is raging here in Germany as to whether Kimmich is a true No. 6 by nature. You also sense the joy he derives from playing, which is not always a given with everyone. He's a true Malocher (someone addicted to hard work) and provides a big part of the platform for the creative Vincenzo Grifo on the left, the team's Zuckerseite (their productive flank). Günter really cares. But for a late-season dip in form, Schlotterbeck would have had the perfect campaign. There will be omissions that some regard as egregious and unfair, but this is not meant to be a scientific study analysing every challenge, pass and speed clocked. Ortega, who will leave Bielefeld for an as-yet-unknown destination, began the season as he meant to continue, with a masterful swatting away of SC Freiburg in the opener. That might be the reaction of someone who watches the Bundesliga only peripherally.
