Offaly see off Laois to end long wait for minor success (RTE.ie)

Tenacious defending, ravenous foraging in the middle third, clever use of the ball and a spread of nine different scorers all across the field were the key ...

The Durrow player struck 0-03, albeit adding four wides, but Offaly also succeeded in mixing in some excellent short range passing, to create good chances close to goal. The win means the Faithful get the chance to recharge in advance of the All-Ireland semi-finals, while Laois will join Clare and Galway in the round robin series, hoping to get back alongside their two neighbours, Offaly and Tipperary, in the last four of the championship. The majority of scores in the opening half came from frees from Adam Screeney and Ben Deegan, but there was still an incredibly high level of quality to the play as superb scores from play from Guinan, Screeney and Cillian Martin helped Offaly move into an early lead.

Offaly ended a 22 year wait to win the Leinster Minor Hurling title with a 0-21 to 0-13 win over Laois in O'Moore Park on Monday night. As the celebration.

Young offaly supporters on the side line buzzing, mad to get onto the field to see their hero's, who are only 17 years old themselves. Dan Ravenhill played superbly and I have already lined him up for an after-dinner speaking gig at our local convent pic.twitter.com/VMx6t5Dcx7 May 16, 2022 And the faithful are many. The Offaly lads love a good mullet. Great for the county. Unreal performance for— Gerard O'Hanlon (@Gerard0Hanlon) @Offaly_GAAminor. Leinster champions ⚪️. The future of the senior team is bright.

SAVOURING the sweet smell of success after watching Offaly strangle the life out of Laois in the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship final, manager Leo ...

“It was a great occasion and fair play to the GAA and our sponsors for sponsoring buses to get the school kids over here tonight. These things happen in games and you have to read the game as it goes along the whole time.” We just move on and we go for an All-Ireland semi-final now.” It is extraordinary for that level to get the work out of them lads. “That is the level you have to go to. I played in an All-Ireland senior hurling final in 1994 against Offaly and I know what it is like on the losing end. “That was a tribute to our work rate. It is absolutely brilliant for the county. We are going for an All-Ireland semi final now and that is the most important thing. It is just unbelievable. Two points ahead at half time, 0-9 to 0-7, Offaly took a vice like grip on the game in the second half. Displaying an energy sapping work rate all over the field and winning most of the individual battles, they pulled away for a very convincing win.
