Getafe vs Barcelona, La Liga: Final Score 0-0, Barça clinch second ... (Barca Blaugranes)

Barcelona have officially clinched second place in the 2021-22 La Liga season thanks to a very boring 0-0 draw away to Getafe in Madrid on Sunday.

The most boring 90 minutes of this La Liga season are over, and Barça will play Villarreal at home in the season finale looking to finish things off in much more exciting fashion than this one. The final whistle mercifully came after a truly terrible second half, and both teams have achieved their goal coming into this match as Barça finish second and Getafe have avoided relegation. The first 45 minutes were an absolute snoozefest.

Getafe 0-0 Barcelona: Player Ratings (Barca Universal)

Heading into the game vs Getafe tonight, Xavi was forced into several changes in the starting lineup. With Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo, and Sergino Dest ...

His anchor play was less than adequate, and clearly needs to improve in that aspect if he wants to continue as the first-choice striker. With pace that frightening, Balde could turn out to be a very useful player should the manager trust him. Covered for both Alves and Lenglet on a few occasions, and coupled that with near-flawless passing. Nemanja Maksimovic and Mathias Olivera did not give Dani Alves trouble on the wing, fortunately. The players looked slower, the passing barely sharp enough, and little to no intent in the attack. With Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo, and Sergino Dest unfit, and Jordi Alba suspended, the entire first-choice back-four was out for the clash.

Clement Lenglet (CB) - 5/10 - Booked in the first half for clipping Borja Mayoral late. Indicated for a sub in the second half after a knock to his knee. Could do with being a little braver in the final third. Booked for a clumsy foul. The relegation-threatened Azulones caused the Barça defence particular issues from set pieces, while Enes Unal forced a rare save out of Marc-Andre ter Stegen just before the interval. In truth, neither side ever looked like breaking the deadlock and it was a mercy when referee Jesus Gil brought proceedings to an end at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
