Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest LIVE FA Youth Cup final ... (Manchester Evening News)

Man United's U18s take on Forest in the FA Youth Cup final tonight and we'll bring you live updates from the match.

The Forest fans have been in fantastic voice so far and now the home crowd are starting to respond with pockets of noise around Old Trafford. It certainly doesn’t feel like a typical youth match. Mainoo has already danced past a few Forest players to have the first attempt on goal. United might have some fine attacking talents but Gore has just caught the eye with his impressive defensive work. Bennett hit the target but the ‘keeper was really flimsy and should have kept that out. Forest have responded very well to conceding the first goal. Forest have kept Garnacho and McNeill quite quiet and that has allowed Mather to thrive when he’s got the ball. Forest look a real threat when they get going and it would be a real surprise if there weren’t more goals in this. It’s difficult not to feel for Vitek. A few of his teammates were geeing him up and the only good thing is half-time is imminent. It is bound to be quite overwhelming for a lot of the players playing in front of a crowd this size but it’s what they’ve got into the game for. He is going to need a time-out to overcome it. A big goal in a big game. Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison featured in that side, but the club's latest youngsters, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Dan Gore and Charlie McNeill, are now looking to extend United's rich history in the prestigious competition after a memorable campaign led by manager Travis Binnion.

Report: FA Youth Cup final - Man Utd v Forest (Manchester United)

Manchester United Under-18s have been crowned FA Youth Cup winners after a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

United were soon back creating chances at the other end, with McNeill drawing a good save, Garnacho watching a shot blocked after Mainoo was tackled just before pulling the trigger. With regular taker McNeill recently taken off for Joe Hugill, it was Garnacho who stepped up to take the ensuing spot-kick, dispatching it calmly past Bott. Captain Rhys Bennett’s powerful 13th-minute header from a clipped Sam Murray free-kick cross put United in front. The Argentinian winger sealed the victory with his second, finishing past Bott with the help of a deflection in added time after a storming run down the left flank. See how the skipper Rhys Bennett opened the scoring in the FA Youth Cup final... Travis Binnion’s young Reds rose to the occasion in front of a remarkable record-breaking 67,492 crowd at the Theatre of Dreams.

Manchester United won the FA Youth Cup for an 11th time, as they beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Old Trafford in front of 67000 fans.

With just 15 minutes left in a pulsating second half with few clear-cut chances, United got their break in controversial fashion. United continued to press for a second goal early the first half, with Garnacho -- who was presented with the club's U18 player of the year award before the match -- firing wide on a couple of occasions, but Forest closed the opening period with intent. They deserved an equalizer for their attacking play, and got one on the cusp of half-time.

Ten minutes later, it was a United set-piece that would break the deadlock. Seventeen-year-old Garnacho – announced as United's Under-18 Player of the Year before the match – continued to cause problems and sealed the result in stoppage-time, driving down the left flank and twisting and turning inside the area before shifting the ball onto his left foot and unleashing a deflected shot that gave Bott no chance. With contact adjudged to have been made inside the box by the referee, Garnacho picked himself up off the turf to take the resultant penalty kick, coolly sending the keeper the wrong way to put the Red Devils in the ascendancy with a quarter of an hour remaining.
